Some others I like to remember are \"Haruka\" Which, in general terms, means \"Far off,\" or \"far away\" and \"Hoshizora\" which is a description of a star-filled sky.

Really? Thanks! At first I thought \'kun\' was for boys (Tohru-kun, Netto-kun, Dekao-kun) and \'chan\' for girls (Meiru-chan, Yaito-chan, Kay-chan ;)).
But then I read that Funfic you told me about, \'Zero-chan\', well, he could easily be mistaken for a girl, but...

Okay, favo-japo-wordo?
\'Tsu!\' \'Sh*t!\'
\'Baka!\' \'Idiot!\' (make fun of your teachers in Jap, too! :P)
And lastly, I don\'t know if it\'s Jap, \'Otaku\', I heard it in Solid Snake: The Twin Snakes with that Otacon-guy saying it. It means a person who likes Japanimation very much, like me!

Mine fav japanese words (and phrases) are:

(Italicided text is from my Finnish-Japanese-Finnish book, but still I\'m not very sure about those words, is they correct, because the book said that even thevocabulary is checked, it may still naturally contain mistakes.)

soushitsu = die out; disappear; vanish
kyoujin = lunatic; madman
hokkou / ôrora = Northern lights
konban wa = Good evening!
oyasumi nasai = Good night!
tsuki = Moon
o-genki desu ka = How do you do?
kobito = elf
hyôzan = iceberg
yuugure = dim; dark
tanoshii = funny
moshi moshi (<- usually said at phone) / yô = hi / hello
kanpai = cheers!
tomodachi / nakama = friend
tsukarete iru = tired
kouen = flame
saiu = drizzle; misty rain

I don\'t know, in regards to Zero EXE... I ran across Bakayarou on a very good translation site while looking up something else, and that\'s the only definition given for it. I think, perhaps, neither are truly correct; but it\'s most certainly an insult.

On another note, Aho is basically mentally retarded, and Yume means dream or to dream.

^^ Fun topic. My favorite? Well... Pikurusu, hocchikisu, atatakai, and utsukushii. What do they mean? Pikurusu means pickles. Hocchikisu means stapler. Atatakai means warm. Utsukushii means beautiful. With the exception of utsukushii, those aren\'t my favorite words because of their meaning; they\'re my favorites because of how they sound when said. That, and stories from Japanese class...

One friend is... odd. And she likes to randomly yell out \"Purple! Pickles! Penguins!\" So, she wanted it translated into Japanese. \"Murasaki iro! Pikurusu! Pengin!\" And she happened to like \'pikurusu\' best. A lot of my friends like to yell that word now, so it\'s kinda my fave cause of how it sounds.

Another friend really sucks at Japanese. She constantly says the wrong word. So one time, needing an insult to say to me, she called me a \'hocchikisu\' which is stapler. That started some laughing ^^;

Atatakai is really funny to try saying fast, and we love getting our JPN teacher to say it fast. That, and then trying to say the past tense, negative, and negative past tense is funny. Tongue twister. Atatakai, atataka kunai, atataka katta, atataka kuna katta. ^^;

Utsukushii is just a word I like, since it means beautiful.

And for whoever it was that said otaku means someone really into Japanimation... that\'s not entirely accurate. In Japan, it means someone\'s whose severely obsessed with something, and is looked down upon. In America, it\'s that definition of someone who\'s obsessed with Japanimation, and isn\'t such a bad thing. But you wouldn\'t want to go to Japan and proclaim yourself to be an otaku of anything. ^^;

Probably depends on where you\'re at. Maybe in some areas, but in my area, some people say it and it\'s not a bad thing. I mostly just meant that in Japan its not a good thing. Oh, and just call me Blade ^^;;

I think it is Oniisan, with an O like my present rank. Ojiisan means grandfather, which is also said towards any middle-aged or married men out of politeness. And Oniichan is a younger brother. But I call \'em Baka-chan :P

Just look on this topic for the words. Then you\'ll have to learn how to put them to form sentences.
For instance: \'Boku wa Morffuman desu.\' means \'I am Morphman.\'
(name is Japanised)
That is the formal introduction for boys only. If you introduce yourself unformal you use \'da\' instead of \'desu\' and for girls, you use \'Watishi wa\' instead of \'Boku wa\'.

Dude, really.....

Japanese is a very difficult language to learn. The attitude of \"I don\'t have time\" or \"I don\'t feel like writing stuff down\" won\'t help.

Plus, internet otakus like these are NOT the people to learn japanese from. It\'s best to hear japanese anyway, in order to learn it.. There are probably alot of japanese language tapes and such..check your local library maybe?

Well, although I think HT\'s right about this, I\'m giving you a not-really-good site (part of a site) and you can get some things from there. Plus you can take the words from this topic, too, if you just want to know some words (like I send you in that PM, exe. megaMan___1) but if you want to learn real Jap, I suggest you take classes.

That doesn\'t stop you from going to night classes, or do some remote learning through the mail. There\'s more than the traditional school. :)

Yes, we\'re all too lazy to take those. That\'s why I just come here. I don\'t really want to learn the language, not yet, but more I want to know the words.
(What the heck does suki mean?)

Anyway, I like to call people \'Baka-chan\' sometimes, so much fun! :P

Laziness surely won\'t help you learn a new language. Oh well, maybe in 10 years you\'ll be grown up and hate anime or something and be glad you didn\'t learn japanese. :eek:

Here\'s a simple way to learn how japanese is pronounced. Watch Iron Chef and listen to Chairman Kaga. :lol: I\'m just kidding by the way. I mean, it\'s good to hear the japanese, but do NOT expect the subtitles to be correct.

That\'s very true, Hollow. I can\'t remember how many times I\'ve heard something while watching anime in Japanese, only to read the subtitles and realize that they substituted the word for a different one, or even dumbed it down to a more common American phrase. It can be very annoying sometimes.

Oh, I also like \"Panku\" and \"Ashi\" (Ashi=Evil. Panku=Punk) And taiyou:D
