I believe that when a person goes to sleep, a person\'s soul temporarily leaves the body. The soul then can do anything it wants, usually reflecting on the day\'s activities. Most people murdered in cold blood are asleep, so the soul doesn\'t have enough time to get back to the body. The soul then, confused, decides to roam the earth looking for another body to inhabit. Most souls are angry because they never find another body to inhabit. Some are just fine with it though, because it is really cool.

What do you think?

Exactly. Your soul left your body, so pretty much nothing can wake you up. That\'s why you are so sleepy in the morning because your soul is settling in your body.

You may have a point though but what doe the soul do does it do its deepest desires?

It can, and it can\'t. A dream is kind of your video camera through the soul\'s eyes. It can do impossible things because it has left it\'s physical form (you.) It can expierence something like air turbulence, so the soul makes a nightmare because of it\'s bad flying. Thar\'s why you are usually shaking, or something is shaking.

Somehow, I doubt that is the only reason for \"blacking out\". For me, it\'s more of a DEEP meditation.

By that, I mean balancing out yourself and keeping your sanity. Since my mind is less in turmoil, my sanity is in less danger, and the \"black out\" is less needed.

Souls and ghosts are the parts I don\'t understand.

Maybe ghost roam the world becuase they have unfinished business? Nah if that were true, ghosts would be everywhere.
About your theory seems plausible, but a bit doubtful at the same time. If it ere true a soul would eventually find a body to inhabit, but what happens to the soul of the body that was takne by that one soul? Would that one go looking for one too?

I think people believe in souls and ghosts to help them deal with death and the nothingness that comes after. I\'m skeptical about life after death and I just assume that when you die, the only part of you that stays behind in the world is your body which just shrivels up and rots. Of course we all have our opinions and yeah...

Kiryu: Thanks, and I don\'t blame you.
metool: Yeah, it would. It\'s an endless cycle...
Pocket: Indeed.

EDIT:
zero: No, they can\'t. Souls are invisible, so that\'s why you can\'t see it leave your body.

If you ask me, the reason that there are ghosts still wandering the earth is because they don\'t want to leave... Most humans are too fond of the pleasures of living, and are not willing to give it up so easily. So when they die, that willingness to stay keeps them from passing on into the afterlife. This is even more likely to happen when someone is brutally murdered or otherwise dies when they least expect or want it.

As for the whole \"Soul leaving the body when you sleep\" thing... I don\'t know. I think that the soul stays in the body unless the body is in danger of being destroyed. You see, I think that if the body is destroyed before the soul can leave it, (or the soul refuses to leave at the time of destruction) then the soul gets trapped in the physical world, further explaining why ghosts exist. However, if the soul can leave the body before the body is destroyed, then it will safely pass on into the afterlife.

Well, this is an interesting theory. I\'m not sure if I believe it, but it would explain something that happened to me once. Of course, it might all have been a silly dream. I remember waking up and then having a look of horror on my face. What\'s so weird about that? I was looking at myself and my room ddidn\'t have any mirrors. I really hope that was a dream...

 Yikes... Did you wake up AGAIN? Or did the face dissappear after you blinked? or, what?

To tell you the truth, I can\'t remember. This happened (or I dreampt it, whichever it was) back when I was a little kid. What I said in my last post is all I can really remember.

I don\'t believe in life beyond the physical and mental aspects, however, let me say that your (Rockmaniskool) statement is true. I think that the statement is good and the sudden death part is pretty well explained, I wouldn\'t want to leave life.

Now, I want to ask you about an aspect of your theory. If a soul leaves a body at night, what stops another soul from taking residence in the cadaver while the soul is away? Is it the fact that the body realizes the soul doesn\'t fit and forces it out shortly after it arrives or something else? Now if that last statement is true... then that explains deja vu.
