I\'ve been searching the internet for awhile now, and the only other place that has some sort of folder advice is full of some people who are rather dis-respectful to your common member yet they somehow get away with it.

Anyway, I haven\'t seen anything like this on the first page, and I am just itchin\' to know just what this board is packin\' strength-wise. Which ever game your play, I wanna know what you guys use, and why.

Right now, I\'m experomenting with a folder that isn\'t the main one I\'ve been using. I don\'t have any human competition, but since there\'s a good chance I\'ll find some soon, I want to be in tip top shape. Plus I like making folders.

Battle Network 3:

4 Aura S
4 Snctuary S
4 Plasma3 S
3 Panelgrab *
3 Areagrab *
3 Mole2 *
Fullcust * Preset
Folderbak *
Life Aura D
Drillman V4 D
Drillman V3 D
4 VarSwrd D

Style:None. No element.
NC customizer: BugStopper, HubBact, 2 Custom+1\'s, and 3 Charge+1\'s

This folder I have concentrates around using the Holy Aura, or Sanctuary+Aura to prevent my opponents from harming me with most attacks. Dark Aura was way too much trouble, and LifeAura+Sanctuary Made it so only an attack of 400 strength could pierce it. FYI multi-hitting non-stunning chips were absolutely required at the other place, and I observed that each chip almost never inflicts more than 100 damage at once, let alone 200 or 400.

The 4 Auras and Sanctuary’s are required for this folder. I am very aware that my opponent has a very high chance that they can alter the field under me, or have an attack stronger than 200. Personally, I hope they do. I found out from batteling navi’s that couldn’t crack or alter the field that those chips have a bad habit of cluttering up my folderspace, preventing offensive chips from coming in. Since their strategies will be halted so they can break my Aura, which then I can easily set up a new one next turn. Plasma3 is a non-stunning chip that has quite the efficiant range and is unusually powerful. Use panelgrab and place one in their center colum, and they can’t avoid it. The panelgrabs are used to step forward and use some of my chips, and to halt my opponents from grabbing my rows. The areagrabs are there to counteract theirs. The last thing I want is to grab most of my opponents panels, turn them into holy panels, then have my enemy gain them back over time. The interesting thing about Mole is that when you use it, most aura-breaking chips can’t hit you. The main one I’m thinking of is Nrthwind. The preset fullcust ois obvious. I didn’t stick a fstguage in there because through testing, I found that this is one of those folders where Fstuage doesn’t benefit it. That, and my opponent most likely has it. If they don’t, their loss. Folderbak is also obvious. Life aura is the most powerful defense of the folder. The two drillman chips offer an object-piercing field-manipulating offense. I abuse the B-B-Left-Down-Up combo with the Varsword. I chose to have no element because often times an elemental attack that once posed no threat can often become my opponents main breaker.

Cons are that it is two coded. Though it seems to run just fine, it is a problem. Though I almost always get both a Snctuary and an Aura with the first draw, sometimes I get neither, leaving me wide open. It has a limited offense, too. If my opponent is running a lifeswrd folder, or 4 nrthwinds, kiss this folder goodbye unless I can time my shield right. Also, this folder has NO aura-breaking ability! If it were to face another folder with an aura, it would most likely lose.

So... watcha’ think?

Sounds like a good folder idea, but we do, I\'m afraid, already have a \"Folder Rating and Advice\" topic. Zaleon created it, but I can\'t remember what the exact name was...

Zaleon doesn\'t really come here much anymore, so don\'t expect a reply from him very soon.

That topic is on page 5. I\'m not sure if I should post in it, or to continue with starting up a new.

It seems you\'ve come across a somewhat original folder idea. However, it indeed needs some development.

Obviously, the intended use of this folder is
create a formidable defense via the use of auras + sanctuary, and to periodically regain these chips after using FolderBak. In this way, you are \'always\' protected, as you will almost always have an aura in the custom menu. However, 200 damage can easily be reached with a well constructed folder, thus rendering your entire folder basis utterly vulnerable in many cases.

What initially caught my attention was the incredible lack of offense, as you yourself have already stated. On this front, you only have your Drillmen chips, as well as the VarSwords. These alone won\'t suffice when against a human player, and you\'ll have to wait for FolderBak as a rescue device; You must put more development into the offensive facet of the folder, and make sure they compliment the code.
It\'s pointless to prolong your inevitable defeat if you have nothing but a well constructed defense, and nothing to put yourself into an attacking postion on the enemy. You can (almost) never win because of your lack of offensive chips, but will not run out of auras due to FolderBak.

Thus, you put yourself into a stalemate. You and your oppenent will not win unless your foe runs out of chips, which he won\'t if he possesses FolderBak.

It is these kinds of positions in which this folder places you into, and which you will want to avoid. I can see that you\'ve put effort into construction of this folder; it needs work nonetheless.

In any event, if you wish to have folders rated, my old topic can still be used; it won\'t be considered bumping if you have a reason for posting. Unfortunately, that renders this topic unnecessary.
On another note, contrary to what Metool said, I periodically visit this board still.

EDIT: Fixed miniscule typing error.

Thanks. Though you forgot to mention the Plasma Chips. Those things inflict an unusually large amount of damage for just one chip. It\'s offenses aren\'t THAT bad.

Panelgrab+Plasma3 (gives them nowhere to run) inflicts about 450 damage. Possibly 900, or if luck is at the point of rediculessness, 1800.

Varsword\'s elemental sonic inflicts either 640 or 820 damage. Possibly 980.

Drill man can inflict 390 damage, pierces, and alter\'s their field.

Don\'t forget about the NC setup. They might use HeatSpread+Prism only to see me use the shield when it hits.

In a few moments, I\'m going to post in that topic what I think you\'ll find to be a VERY interesting folder.

Just bump the topic if you have a reason to (ie: not just to do a spam-like post) :)
