Can somebody make me a Pros and Cons list for both the DS and PSP? I need a FULL one, and I mean FULL. Everything, please! I want to prove to the dumbass kids in my school that DS is better than the PSP, but I need your guys help. If anyone can, well, thank you. Thanks!

The DS isn\'t better than the PSP though, really. From what I remember reading, they\'re both different handhelds made with different ideas. Plus, they\'re both fairly new so the only thing that would matter, the game selection, can\'t decide anything yet.

I can\'t comment on the PSP, since it isn\'t out yet and I won\'t get one anyway. I think it will fall after some months (or a few years), but that\'s just my opinion. ;)

HOWEVER! Being the proud owner of a Nintendo DS since launch day, I can cover some points that I noticed over the last few days.

PROS:

  • The two backlit screens look really nice, and some games use both screens in a decent way. No more tiny map in a corner of the screen.
  • That touch screen rules. Seriously. You can\'t know what it really is until you\'ve played using it a few times.
  • Cartridges for games! A limited capacity yes, but there\'s no loading times at all, and you can drop those things without being afraid to damage them.
  • Compatible with single-player GBA games! It\'s more limited than the GBA, but it\'s nice that the unit can hold TWO games at the same time (one DS, and one GBA)

CONS:
  • The good old D-pad doesn\'t play as well for games like Super Mario 64, where you\'re used to the little joystick of the last few consoles
  • No compatibility with older GameBoy games. I suppose this is before the DS is NOT a GameBoy, but a new system altogether. I would rather expect the successor of the GBA to support the older games. Still, GBA compatibility by itself is really nice.

That\'s about all for now. I\'ll probably have more to say in the following weeks.

ohhh damn dr.cossack got a DS  how lucky T_T

Ohh kay, let\'s do this *stretches* :miam:

Nintendo DS - PROS
- Two Screens (both are Backlit)
- Touch Screen
- Backwards compatible with the GBA, also considered as an expansion slot
- Two Stylus(ses  ) included in pack
- Built-in Microphone (Nintendo currently developing VOIP technology for use like a cell phone)
- Every DS comes with Picto Chat
- Every DS (at the moment) comes with Metroid Prime: First Hunt (demo)
- Wireless Multiplayer (WiFi LAN technology, reaches around 100ft)
- Wireless Global Multiplayer (still to be developed. LAN centers can operate as HUBs that can send signals worldwide)
- Uses Lithium Batteries which allows for up to 10 hours of gameplay on a 4 hour charge
- Games in the form of flash cards (quicker to mass produce, much cheaper to buy, no loading times)
- Price: $149.99 US, Comes with an adapter and a new type of controler/pointer, the \"thumb shoe\"
- Clam shell design protects both screens
- Reassurance that Nintendo has created 5 (successful) portable systems and has much experience in the portable industry, eliminating all other hand helds thus far.

CONS (i don\'t really want to do this . There may be more cons but I\'m sure I\'ll miss a few since I love the DS)
- Almost all games announced so far are based on already existing franchises (SM 64 DS, MP: Hunters, Animal Crossing DS, Advanced Wars DS, Bomberman DS just to name a few)
Note: Originals- Feel the Magic, Another, Meteos(?)
- Unknown success concerning innovation with 2 screens and a touch screen. (?)
- Launch titles are somewhat disappointing to some.
- Dead pixels are appearing on a number of DS\'s, however Nintendo has stated that this may occur with LCD screens. The PSP may also suffer from this.
- Lack of third party games (?) :conf:
- No joy/analog stick (but you have a touch screen :P )
- Some complaints that the X,Y,B,A buttons are just a bit too small

Playstation Portable - PROS
- Large Screen
- Graphics are near the PS2 capabilities
- Can watch movies (up to 4 hours of playback)
- Can listen to music
- Large third party support
- Deemed as \"sexy\" (looks good)
- Uses disc technology - Can hold up to 1.8gb
- Has an Analog stick
- Has USB connectivity
- Flash card/stick port
- Wireless Multiplayer (still hasn\'t been tested yet but it probably works)
- Price: ~200 US (i\'ve lost the damn confirmed price >< but I remember it being near 200)

CONS
- Large Screen is unprotected
- Graphics will drain batteries
- Uses disc technology - Loading times - Battery drainer as the device has to spin the disc - G Protection required
- Some/Most games will require a memory card as the games are on a read-only disc (unconfirmed)
- Games are estimated to play for 4-6 hours
- There was some talk that game developing companies were issued with \"battery emulators\" and were told to keep their games within a certain battery limit. This reduces game quality because it has to be concious of the battery consumption.
- Although the WiFi technology has not been tested as of yet, 4-6 hours of battery life will require each player to be anchored to a power-point, else they need to pause the game and change battery packs.
- Portable music? The PSP isn\'t very pocket-sized..

You asked for it! Don\'t say you didn\'t ask for it!

Edit: well you have to expect edits :P

Rush, the unprotected large screen can be protected, But, seens how its not going to be out anytime soon, that could change, we do\'t know, but if I\'m correct, you can always add plastic over it, or somthing hard and clear.

Yeah, you can protect it with a case and such. I was just comparing it to the DS\'s design thats all ;)
