Well? Consoles or emulators? (Computer games don\'t count.) If the answer is \"depends on the system,\" assume newest systems while you vote.

(This does not include pricing, availablity, leaglity, portablity with the exception of in-house, the fact that out-of-production games or systems are out-of-production or run-down, the existance of non-existant games made by individual people for emulators, or any other such factor you can think of. It only matters which one you prefer to play. The fact that an emulator may not be exactly the same as the original game is allowed to influence your decision. Thank you, that is all.)

You gotta admit, price really a hard factor to take out of the picture. I mean, that\'s the reason most people don\'t use emulators.

I think I gotta go with consoles, just cause they feel more authentic.

I prefer consoles over emulators. Holding a controller is different than playing with a keyboard...

I\'d prefer emus, even with all the factors taken out.

Chrono Trigger

Pro: Save states make the Vicks, Wedge, Piette thing a breeze.

Con: Many reported problems emulating it. They all can be fixed though, and the only one I\'ve had trouble with is the LRA password

I\'m aware that I might as well be speaking latin for all you understood of that... heh...heh...?

I like using Consoles cause... meh, I just don\'t use emulators anymore. I used to, but then I couldn\'t find the button to launch the bomb in that airplane game, so I couldn\'t defeat the enemies that required it... so it lost some love there.

The original console, of course. The controls are usually superior, and you don\'t have to fiddle around trying to make an emulator work.

\"assume newest systems while you vote\"

Well with the latest consoles then of course the console themselves are the best. Controlers are ergonomically designed while a keyboard is... well... you can\'t hold the damn thing with both hands and press as many buttons

Yes, I said that for actually voting becase I didn\'t want to include options like \"other or \"depends.\" But when you post what you think, that\'s where you can say if there\'s a difference based on which system you\'re using.

New systems: My computer can\'t handle a PS2 emulator..not in a million years.

Older systems: The only pro about emulators for me is that you can netplay with ZSNES. Otherwise..the sound quality isn\'t exact. When I play Chrono Trigger I want EXACT MUSIC SYNTH...so I will gladly NOT play the emulated version or that piece of crap port on the PSX. The keyboard hurts after awhile..

Yeah, but sadly, anything hurts after long enough. I played Street Fighter 3 on the Anniversary Collection on the PS2 for almost 2 hours straight, button-mashing to try and get my special attack to activate (I\'m so lame:lol: ), and when I went to bed, my hands felt too bruised to play Monster Rancher.

You really shouldn\'t button mash when playing a Street Fighter game, let alone Street Fighter III. You\'ll never be able to appreciate how good of a game Street Fighter III is if you do...

Oh your right. I don\'t button mash often. Just when I want a cool finish and I...can\'t....activate....the special attack...:madgo:

Though, seeing as my main character is Hugo, I use very few complicated attacks.:P

However, emulators can\'t give you the same experience that a console can, meaning you could even emulate Nintendo DS, using mouse instead of stylus and split-screen or two monitors instead of two separate screens, but it just wouldn\'t feel the same.

You know how the Atari ended up in a simple stick you can directly hook up on your television, do you? Maybe something similar would happen to the other 80\'s and 90\'s consoles would happen as well. :)

That wouldn\'t work, PUNK, you need controllers.

Err... What kind of \"stick\" did I point out to you instead? ;)

What I\'m saying is, Atari games can function fine with just a stick, but NES and especially SNES or PlayStation games (although the PlayStation can still be played in the PS2) need more buttons in order to be able to work, and even if it was a real controller hooked up to the TV, if it inculded the data for ALL the games it would be way too big to use like that. I had this thing that came with 50 NES games (or actually, imitations of most of them), and it looked like a weird little Game Boy, \"Dr. Boy,\" and it broke three days after I got it, but you coudn\'t fit the SNES game data on there, and especially not all of them, nor could it save. I mean look at how bog that thing is and it only included 10 games! Atari games. Now we all know it could have been smaller, but still...

Since people have managed to put 20 GB of data onto 1 sqare inch, the storage of all games into a controller shouldn\'t be too much of a problem.

Even then it would be a better idea to put all the data and other modules into a black box so there would be only one wire on each controller. The power and TV linkage are better off there too.
