I dont quite know how this happend, but me and several of my friends at school had their computers crashed unexpectedly late at night, sometime around 7:00. at first i just thought it was my computer screwing around on me again, but when i rebooted i got the forbbiden blue screen of death.

Somewhere in the scattered white text, it said i was missing one of the main components for windows, the core if im not mistaken. i dont know how this importent peice of data could have been deleted, other then a virus.

the only thing i know for sure is that me and my friends all have dail-up modems, although not the same models or ISP.

does anyone know of any known virus's that goes through dail-up and eats away at the core of windows?

It can't be a large virus, at least not on a 56k modem.

I have dial-up too (though I wish I had something better) but I haven't heard of this virus. And also, I've heard of plenty of viruses that destroy the main programs of Windows, so it could be any one of them.

I've heard of this, but I don't know the cause. Possibly through e-mail? I'm not sure, I've never had a virus before. Well, actually, I had a temporary virus that deleted my whole picture archive, but then it went away. Dude, get DSL. Just do it! No more dial-up!
