You mean like Kurt Cobain\'s heroes, The Beatles? (Don\'t say I\'m wrong, \'cos I\'m right, Kay?)

I really don\'t think Courtney could\'ve done it. Come on, have you all SEEN that woman? I don\'t think she even knows what she\'s doing or where she\'s at half the time.

I know. I gathered that much just from the lyrics, I didn\'t need a biography. I just listened to the chorus:

He’s the one
He likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he dont know what it means
dont know what it means

Crystal clear, to me.

I know, but not only does it say the meaning of that song, but it clearly states that all of the other songs have meaning.

The Beatles are on the list too I just didn\'t type them because they were a pop band. The influence from the Beatles is very apperant in About A Girl and All Apologies. The \'All in all is all we are\' in All Apologies is (if I recall correctly) from a Beatles song. I listed only the punk bands before because I was tring to get a point across.

Heres a list of things that influenced Nirvana\'s sound the most (no perticular order):
The Beatles
Led Zepplin
Ledbelly (Huddie Ledbetter)
The Vasolines
The Wipers
The Pixies
The Melvins
Iggy and the Stooges
Celtic Frost
rednecks
sound effect tapes
Sex Pistols

still not a complete list but these are some of Kurt\'s and Krist\'s influences. I have no clue about Dave or any of the other drummers the band had. But yeah, that\'s some of them.

Pop? No, the word is \"Skiffle\" or something. It\'s basically a simplifyed version of 50s Rock \'n\' Roll. It\'s easier to play.

I heard their influence in Something in the Way.

The producer said that if he wanted to infulence Kurt\'s music, and Kurt didn\'t agree, he just said \"John Lennon did this in \"whatever song\'\" and he always agreed.

The suicide/murder/conspiricy theory is still here. Despite the fact that he was so out of it with heroin that he would have passed out, making picking up a shotgun impossible, he had two bullet wounds in his head.

So let\'s reconstruct the suicide theory in our minds. He was completely out of it on heroren, but somehow, he stayed concious, even with the amount in him. In fact, he wasn\'t out of it at all. In fact, he was compus-mentus enough to pick up a shotgun, and not only shoot himself, be he reloaded and pulled the triggar again, thus shooting himself twice in the head.

If that sounds like it\'s impossible, that\'s because it is. He was murdered; he didn\'t commit suicide.

I don\'t know who did it. I won\'t go into who I think it was, as that it a big accusation, murder. What I will say, though, is that it certainly wasn\'t Cobain himself.

Now wait a minute, Nirvana, ruining music, WHAT!?!?! Now a you people may not like their music, but isn\'t that a little far. I don\'t remember who said this, but, what the heck. You wanna know who really ruined music? MTV. MTV made uncreative, uninspired, and untalented music popular. Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, Puff Daddy, or whatever his name is this week. They made all this crap popular. As a musician, I am offended by the type of music that is thought of as good today. They can\'t play instruments, hell most of em\' can\'t even really sing. Ashlee Simpson is freakin tone deaf. Don\'t blame Nirvana when there are much bigger sources of HORRIBLE music out there.

Thank you, this has been my monthly rant.

You don\'t consider Nirvana \'pop\', the_dreamer? They\'re one of the \'biggest\' most talked about bands...and you don\'t consider them pop?

Okay, I understand if they had older albums.. Like say, Metallica wasn\'t really pop until Load came out (possibly even before then). But bands that become that POPular have to be pop at some point.

Ahem, I never said anything about Nirvana being Pop or not, I\'m just saying that they are not the source of the problem. Cmon, at least they\'re legitimate musicians. What I\'m talking about it the idiots like Ashlee Simpson. People that don\'t even really try. I\'m not saying that popular music is necessarily bad, I\'m just saying that I\'m tired of people like Ashlee Simpson that get all the credit for the music that they, \"perform,\" while their backup band, the people that actually play the music, get absolutely no credit.

I\'m not here to debate whether or not Nirvana was a good band, or if Kurt killed himself, or if they are pop or not, because honestly, I don\'t care. I\'m just saying that they are not the source of the real problem.

Also, you can just call me Dreamer, I have been here for quite awhile you know.

I have a modifyed version of Cobain\'s \"suicide\".

Kurt Cobain was completely stoned on heroin. In fact, he was unconcious; but somehow, he managed to pick up a shotgun, put the barrels in his mouth, and pull the triggar with his toe. He then picked up the shotgun, reloaded it and repeated, thus shooting himself twice in the head with a shotgun.

Well, if music wasn\'t based on looks nowadays, I guess we wouldn\'t have \"singers\" like Britney Spears and Ashlee Simpson now would we? :P

There\'s still plenty of good music being made, you just have to look harder.

And you can call me Hollow. I call people by their usernames. You have a \"the\" there, so yeah. Be glad I don\'t add the numbers.

And as for Cobain getting shot twice..is that actual -proof- or just some hairbrained website maintainer who thinks he has \"proof\"?

Eh? Explain.

Even if he didn\'t shoot himself twice, he was at least completely out of it on drugs. Don\'t say he wasn\'t as that it how he spent most of his free time (and most of the time he wasn\'t free, for tha matter  ):P

I was talking to the_dreamer. About the \"the\" thing.

And well, depends on what drugs he was taking. He could\'ve thought the gun would shoot flowers and rainbows. ;)

Not true. Grunge is basically heavy emo (very basically) It\'s emotional music addressing the problems of teenagers, but not quiet and winging, but heavy, loud, and often about drugs and sex.:P
