Was he ever offered the job? Chaud might be older, but there isn\'t that much of an age diffrence.

MMBN5 seems to be a step in that dirrection, with Lan being recruited to help Liberate the net.

Perhaps he might become an offical Net Battler? That might be good - but it would definately take away from the average-ness of Lan; and seperate him from his friends.

that is a very good qeustion. for all the times Lan saved the world, you would think they would recruit him as an official, what has chaud done to save the world, except help at the very last minute?

Well, while Lan does often seem to miss out on his hard-earned respect as a 4-time world saver, he is often given the powers of an Official. Although he is not named one directly, he is given access to many Official-Navi-only areas throughout his adventures, as well as many naturally restricted areas in Scilab, NAXA, etc. So even if he\'s not an Official, he still seems to have the authority of one, even if not in intimidation.

Maybe being an official would make him too easy to target? Or maybe he\'d have to look like the orange headed official navis?:conf:

Well I\'d say that him being an Official would make Megaman too recognizeable, thus making it harder for him to do the many thins he ends up having to do to save the world.

I mean, no camera ever saw Megaman save the world, and I don\'t think Megaman ever got to fight on camera in the N1 Grand Prix...

Or did he? I keep forgetting.

well if you remember, every knew megaman saved the world when they cheered him on when he couldnt shift the asteroids course in BN4, so i think hes clearly Offical material by no means.

In MMBN5 - Higsby\'s shop even has a poster of Roll and Megaman.

So Megaman does have some recognisability nowadays. Though not enough to take away from his \"average kid\" style.

That, more than anything, is probably why they don\'t do that. Story-wise, it would take away from Lan\'s Average-ness

Well, Lan only saved the world 5 times. To be an official you need to of saved the world at least 8 times </sarcasm>

i think it is just for story reasons, Lan should be very rich and famous not only for saving the world but being the grandson of the man who created the internet as a network and the son of the man who created navis and PETs themselves.

It does seem odd that anyone could possibly identify him by now, I mean, having saved the world 4 times prior to MMBN5. It\'s very odd that Ribbita had not yet tried to get an interview from him.

Perhaps stranger yet is the point you just mentioned, that Lan has recieved no non-spiritual reward from completing any of his adventures yet. He never gets an enormous cash prize, a statue, a medal, or even a commerative \"You Saved The World\" plaque.:P

Actually, in MMBN5 Lan has a set of trophies on his shelf that are identified as being from \"his netbattles\".

Aren\'t those his trophies from the 3 tournaments from MMBN4 representing the three tournaments? That would qualify as records of achievment, but not really saving the world since the world was not directly in danger from the tournaments.
Except, I guess in some plots his opponents were causing havoc on the Net... Coldman\'s operator even caused winds that could have killed plenty of people around the world if continued. However, even if you stop him, the tournament officials don\'t say, \"Congratulations on winning the tournament and saving us from these crazy people.\"
Conveniently, they do say
Spoiler (click to toggle)
\"Congratulations on winning the tournament, now please save us from this crazy meteor.\"

Lan isn\'t an official becaue:
1.He is way too soft!
2.He is never serious except when it really matters.
3.Have you seen how many times megaman has had his arse saved by protoman and chaud?!
4.Lan never asked to be an official
5.Do you seriously think Lan\'s mom would let him join?
Plus his friends would always be in his buisiness so he would have to get rid of them in order to join.
anymore questions?
