Topic: BreakMan, Protoman, huh?

Well i was reading this site that had a FAQ\'s section, so i looked into it, now it said somthing about protoman and some robot called breakman (and from the sounds of it they were like the same robot but not really?) all i wanna know is who is this \"breakman\" and whats the whole story im missing here?

I think Breakman was the fake Protoman... he has a half-mask that the real Proto doesn\'t. That might have been the one that kidnaps Dr.Light, but I\'m not really sure. It\'s always been kinda fuzzy to me.

The only appearance of \"Breakman\" is in Mega Man 3, where he looks exactly like Protoman besides the fact that he wears a mask below his visor. Is he the same as Protoman or not... no one at Capcom bothered to explain.

Yea, there\'s no explanation on the name \"Breakman.\" I think it was Protoman\'s original english name until Capcom decided for whatever reason to change it. I don\'t think Breakman and Protoman are separate people because you don\'t destroy Breakman in MM3 and if he was a separate character, why haven\'t he showed up in any other games and/or official artwork after that game (as how Tango sometimes show up)?

Then again, I\'m a person who imagines that \"Blues\" is Protoman\'s \"real\" name and \"Rock\" is Megaman\'s \"real\" name in the english version. XP

I think BreakMan was ProtoMan\'s attempt to disguise himself so he could test MegaMan\'s fighting abilities, \'cause he knew the Blue Bomber would hold back if he knew it was his brother he was fighting...

That\'s my theory, anyway.

Can someone please clear up a point for me? When Breakman is defeated by Protoman (in a couple of shots, after Breakman is able to easily defeat Mega :rolleyes: ), he turns in to the thing with treads and the glass dome on its head. Is that thing Darkman?

It seems kinda like the whole Mr.X-Dr.Wily thing to me...

That wasn\'t Breakman in Mega Man 5, it was just a Protoman lookalike. The robot is indeed Dark Man.

If you\'ll remember, Megaman and Roll are referred to as [i]Rock and Roll in the Fourth game. They\'ve never mentioned about ol\' Blues, but I have a feeling that\'s right, too.

Check out MS Paint Masterpieces by Disgruntled Ferret. I think that portrays the most well thought-out fan story as to Blues\' story.

Well, most of the Bob and George site\'s comics are quite good, but DF\'s are of lesser quality. And I haven\'t seen anything about Blues/Proto thingy in those comics, but I\'m quite sure you\'re right about it.

Don\'t get me wrong, I love that comic. But as far as ProtoMan goes, his story is rather boring in that comic.

Dr. Light gets mad when Blues drinks all the booze (Being the curious child he is.) and threatens to kill him, so blues runs off. He gets his sheild when the prototype \"Polka\" (as he is now called) ends up half dead on the roof of some house somewhere. Blues helps repair him (with some awkward parts) and takes the sheild from him sort of as compensation. Not really much of the silent loner type we\'ve known him as in the actual games... but then again Ferret hasn\'t but started in the MM1 timeline, so we may see more of Blues in the future.

Actually, I hadn\'t read any comics other than Dave\'s. That guy\'s comic is great when you also have a brother that reads it, but then he stops or misses one and you get to tell him all the crazy stuff that happens, and then he\'s all like \"Wha...?\", and I\'m like....
Nevermind.

But I did check DF\'s, the first 30 pages were pretty neat anyways. I just don\'t have patience enough to pick up a new webcomic.

I sometimes read the others as well.

Reality sucks: like it, quite some nice jokes and nonsense.

BreakMan and ProtoMan are one in the same, it was just a name change. (Not sure why) DarkMan was a clone of ProtoMan (ProtoMan/BreakMan) it\'s really quite simple.
