New info, passing it on from www.megaman.co.uk.

First of all, judging from new info, you may eventually be able to unlock two special features in the game which were previously unheard of:

Spoiler (click to toggle)
First off, you may now be able to unlock Roll with a broom as a new playable character, as seen in these screens:
Screen 1
Screen 2

Another speculated unlockable ability is the ability to charge your buster and slide. Neither of the two skills were available in the original MM1, so that would be interesting. Check the official site to see some of the stuff for yourself.

On another note, you will apparently be able to download a few packs of extra stage-building material, such as NES versions of stages, on the official site. So far, the only one available is an \"Old Gutsman\" pack.

On yet another note, the first review to come out for the Japanese version of Rockman Rockman was actually nothing all to impressive. The scores added up to a 29/40 for the reviewer, which is really only just a decent score.

Well, I have a friend who owns and has been playing the game. Here are some things he\'s told me are in the game, FOR SURE.

Spoiler (click to toggle)
As well as Roll and the Robot Masters, you can unlock ProtoMan as a playable character, and MegaMan\'s lab-assistant alter-ego, Rock, who uses some kind of melee attack, I forget.

The Charge Shot and Slide are definitely in the game. And from what I heard, to unlock certain Robot Masters, you must defeat them WITH ONLY YOUR BUSTER.

And, just something I was saying to a friend in a chat window...

Quote:

Jason_Hawking: I have to wonder if they added Oil \'n TimeMan just to fill the new 8 master quota...

Jason_Hawking: Or if Inafune had planned for them to be there in the first place, but capcom decided just six for now...

Jason_Hawking: Which seems to make sense, considering MM1 didn\'t have saving to keep track of your game progress...

Jason_Hawking: When MM2 came out with it\'s password feature, they probably felt more confident in adding the two extra bosses...

Personally? I don\'t really the like the whole idea of two new robot masters. Something about the memory being screwed with. It might be a change for the better, but I still don\'t think it\'s a needed change.

Besides, there are already 8 Robot Masters.

Roll and Megaman--not quite Masters, but they\'re from the same generation of robots--are the other two.

While I understand those who\'d rather stay with the original 6, I don\'t mind the idea of having 2 more bosses to complete the set. It helps to put the game on the same level as all it\'s sequels. I just hope that Capcom took some extra care to add some of the other missing elements, like a Skull Castle map.

I can\'t help but wonder what these two new robot masters will do to the numering scheme of the original series: it would be pretty stupid if they changed ALL of the numbers around.

That\'s what I\'M wondering. Maybe they\'ll be counted as miscellaneous robots. Not exactly built by Wily or Light, they just happened to agree with what Wily was thinking and tagged along for the ride.

... at least that\'s what I\'m hoping...

Has anyone played the challenges yet? They are hard! There\'s 10 for every character, then 10 more involving boss fights only. I only need to complete 6 more: 5 of Timeman\'s last and the one where you have to beat all 12 bosses on hard. (Wily\'s so cheap in this game when you\'re Mega Man, you have a 50:50 chance of actually dodging his machine impact attack, which he uses all too often in Hard Mode.)

All I know is....after that...

Spoiler (click to toggle)
You get to play as Proto Man. This guy jumps like nobody’s business and fires fully-powered super-shots with every shot he fires. This is a surprise, considering he’s supposed to be the same basic specs as Mega Man. Not to mention, why does he lose these upgrades later? At any rate, his shots count as guard-breaks, meaning they can get through Sniper Joe shields and closed Beaks and so forth. But he can only have one shot on the screen at once, so you are somewhat limited in how quickly you can rapid-fire. He does in fact carry a functional shield in this game, although he has a hard time hanging onto it; if the shield blocks a hit for you, Proto Man will drop it, and you have to go back over and touch it to pick it up again. Oddly enough, Proto Man can’t gain Master Weapons (even though we know from other games that he’s supposed to be able to use them) but you don’t really need them, because his Proto Strike hits a weakness to everything.

Ah, man. I've been playing this game for a while now.

A friend of mine says he absolutely hates playing as GutsMan, but I beg to differ.

Though his method of attack is a little unweildly, his ability to create platforms can be way cheap at times.

I developed a method that was able to beat at least 6 of the robot masters with almost no trouble at all on normal mode, and here's how it works!

Spoiler (click to toggle)
It's a simple "Trap and Smash" method that really seems like something GutsMan would actually do!

First you need to plant a block somewhere. Anywhere is fine as long as you're sure the Robot Master in question will end up directly next to it. (Let's say, FireMan.) Stand atop the block over the edge where the boss is coming. As they hit the block, hit the fire button again. If you're standing correctly you should now be planting a block directly on the other side of the robot, trapping them between two blocks with only one character's worth of space between them. For bosses that can jump, immediately back up and plant a block atop the 1-space hole and seal them in. Once trapped, the Robot Master will merely run back and forth and jump around attempting to escape, doing nothing else and remaining in that loop for the rest of the battle. (Unless you stupidly decide to pick up one of the blocks on either side and set them loose...)

From then on, drop down on the side of the pyramid which has the most space between it and the wall. Create a block somewhere away from it, pick it up, stand right next to the closest pyramid block and throw.

As the block you threw breaks up, it's chunks should continue through the blocks and hit the trapped Robot Master inside before disappearing. Repeat this, being careful not to remove ANY of the pyramid blocks and this battle will be so easy, it's far BEYOND cheap...

In comparison, OilMan is REALLY pathetic, as a player character AND an idea.

It's supposed to be freakin' 20XX, who in the world would use Oil as a power source anymore?

... except America. *Rimshot*

But, seriously. As a player character, the guy just sucks. His attack? Fire a drop of oil that hits the ground NOT EVEN a few feet away. The drop itself causes so little damage it's pitiful compared to the Mega Buster's shots. (UNCHARGED.) Hop on this droplet and you can use OilMan's OTHER attack, the Oil Slider.

Now, this one does some nice damage, required that you take some YOURSELF. Yay, ow?

No... don't even get me started how impossible it is to beat FireMan... DON'T EVEN.

Anywho, some info on the Robot Masters, since I've played the game.

CutMan- Can wall-jump. However, unlike X and Zero, the jump made from the wall goes completely in one direction. So you literally have to have two walls to jump between if you want complete vertical climbing.

GutsMan- CAN CREATE BLOCKS. Up to five on one screen at any time. This is useful for creating stairs, or crossing spike pits. And hey, you can pin some bosses down and smash them from outside. *See method in the spoiler above.*

BombMan- You can adjust the angle at which BombMan throws his bombs. Hold down and he'll just plant one right at his feet. Hold forward and he'll throw one really far ahead. Hold up and the bomb he throws will have a high vertical climb before arcing back down.

IceMan- Won't slip on ice. Enemies he freezes will become platform blocks!

FireMan- Most overly modded character in the entire game, just because of his attack, the Fire Storm. You get the rotating fireball shield thingy AND the wide firestorm projectile which can be used repeatedly and have many on the screen at one time. Standing up close to you pretty much spells DOOM for any enemy. When he touches water, the fire on his head goes out, and he can no longer use the projectile, though the rotating fire-orb still appears when he attacks, which is the most useful part anyway. Touch fire to re-ignite the flame. While the flame is on, you can melt snow when you come in contact with it. (Though you can avoid melting it if you move away real quickly.)

ElecMan- Fires the tri-directional Thunder Beam, and can make Electrical blocks move when he strikes them with it.

TimeMan- Fires two clock hands. A minute hand that quickly moves diagonally up, and a slow-moving hour hand that moves diagonally down. Hold down the button to charge up, and release to slow down time temporarily.

OilMan- ... You allready know how lame this guy is. T_T I like his personality, but that's really all there is...

Yes it is. >8D it really pwns Elec and FireMan. XD

BombMan is a bit more difficult to pull it off on, since he jumps around. And if you seal him in, I've noticed that on occasion his bombs may actually break the blocks... You can still try, though. I managed to pull it off ONCE without much problem.

Don't really need to bother with CutMan. He's weak against the Super Arm anyway. Xp

Would he spit fire?! Bah, that's a dumb question. Of COURSE he'd use fire attacks. Well, my version made him more humanoid and gave him a buster from which he shot said fire-the Dragon Blaze, it was called.

The *hint hint* was mostly a fingerpoint at FireMan. Capcom tries to avoid having Robot Masters with essentially the same powers in one game. XP

ANYWHO, If anyone else has the game, feel free to download my stage.

Code: 47258859-003
Stage Name: FlareMan_Stage

Eeeeeeeeeeeeenjoy! All 8 Robot Masters are available play-as characters. Roll is playable, as well as MegaMan-C (MegaMan w/Charge Shot and Slide.)

I warn you. It's a difficult stage.

Then again, I originally created Dragon Man for a proposed MM9, so it was legal then.

If they needed to have two original Robot Masters with totally new powers, they needed to make a FlightMan (airplane-based) and LightMan (with large, blinding headlights).

But then with better names, of course. -_-

JetMan would've made a good "weak against thunder" Robot Master.

... but he's one of my custom J-series Robots, along with FlareMan. So, no. Xp

I like TimeMan. It's OilMan I can't stand. 8/

TimeMan was really awesome. Somehow it's just easy to play as him.

I made some stages too, Flare, and I'd love to try yours... but I figured out I don't have wireless internet, so I don't think that's possible. -_-

I liked all of the personalities they added to the robot masters (except that BombMan's did really seem to dry out sometimes). I eagerly await a Powered Up 2: thinking of what voices and personalities they give to guys like AirMan and CrashMan is fun.

I don't have wireless internet, either. It should work if you have a router, though. You should try to connect anyway. Xp
