A\'right, I hear people asking this WAAAAAY too often, so here it is! Mods, pin it, delete it, whatever. But here it is!
HOW TO POST UP YOUR IMAGES TO DA NET, YO!
Postin\' images is a tad more work than you\'ve been lead to beleive, but it\'s a simple 4-step process that\'s easy enough to learn and memorize, so don\'t be discouraged, d00d.
STEPPA-1. T3h f1l3. (The file!)
First thing is to KNOW WHERE YOUR IMAGE IS. Save it to your desktop or wherever it is you save your pictures to, and REMEMBER THE NAME. OH, and be sure to save it as (.gif) or (.png). (.jpeg)\'s and (.bmp)\'s are just WAAAY too messy.
STEPPA-2. uRpL04rd33ng... d00dZ0r! (Uploading!)
Now that you HAVE an image, upload it! Go here. Save this place in your favorites somewhere \'cause I garuantee you\'ll use it again. Welcome to ImageShack! Look in the little box in the center of that page (It should look like THIS).
There should be a little area to type stuff in, don\'t. Instead, click the button right next to it that says \"Browse\". A new window will pop up with some files from your computer. Hit the \"Go up\" button until you get to your desktop (It\'s the picture of the folder with an arrow going up on it.). Once there, search for your file. (I told you to memorize where you put it. If you didn\'t do that, tough luck.) Once you find it, double click it, or click it once to highlight it and click OK down at the bottom of that window. The window should close, and on the imageshack page, there should now be some text in that little text-area I told you not to type in. (If you did, empty it and do this step all over again, \'cause you screwed it up!)
Now what you need to do is hit the \"Host it\" button near the bottom of that box. Your file will start uploading to ImageShack, free of charge! (Yay!)
STEPPA-3. t3h lynl<z0R!1!lolz! (The link!)
Now that you\'ve uploaded your image, ImageShack should give you a page with many little textboxes. (Don\'t type in these either! There\'s already text in \'em!) These are the url\'s to make links to your images.
IMAGE, FOO...
See that screenshot? That\'s what the page looks like after you upload the image. Scroll down until you find a URL with \"Direct link to image\" beside it. (I have it circled in red, d00d...) Highlight the text in that box and hit CTRL + C. That will copy it. Then paste it to wordpad or something so you won\'t forget. You now have the URL link to your image on the web!
STEPPA-4. t3h P0zt3r4tyng! (The posting!)
Now that you have your image, and uploaded it, and got the link, you\'re all ready to post it up! Depending on what type of forum you post at, you may have to use different types of code, but for now I\'ll only talk about the BBC-codes used on forums like this one. Sometimes, you\'ll want to just paste the image right into your post so people see it the moment they walk in. In that case, you use the \"image\" tags, which would look like so.
<img>url here</img> (Of course, instead of < and >, you\'ll use [ and ].)
However, most of the time images are very large, and posting them would get you in a wee tad bit o\' trouble. So instead of using the image tags, we use the URL tag, so that our image is posted up as a link, which will open up a new window for people to see the image in. THIS would look like so.
<url=insert url here>type whatever you want here</url> (Once again, use [ and ].)
And, there. You\'ve JUST learned how to post up your favorite images on the net for all to see. How you use this power is up to you, but remember that it\'s a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig responsibility! You remember... that quote from the Spider-Man movie, right? Eh? Hmm? Well, I\'ll just let you guess at it. Class dismissed!
