That show wasn\'t \"gay\". o_o Doogie Howser was a great voice for Spidey. It sucked that the villains died every ep almost, sure..but it was pretty damn good.

Since you put \"VENOM IS PLAYABLE\" in caps though, I guess that means you\'re one of those fans I\'ve been warned about, or should I say aboot.

Anyways the game LOOKS nice, but I of course haven\'t played it so I won\'t base judgement.

I second that! That show was awesome. It\'s so hard to catch it on TV though...

I was thinking of picking up this game whenever I get my first paycheck (and when it is cheap around $20 ^^; ). I don\'t really want to play as Venom. If I wanted to play as bad guys, I would want to play as the basic \"villains\" like the Lizard, Mysterio, or Doc Ock... but I don\'t know how it could play. ^^;

X_x Blazen, how can you hate the graphics? From everything I\'ve seen and read, they look like THE BEST comic book style 3D graphics ever. They\'re like half the game!

Playing as Venom will probably be cool. It was in both Marvel vs. Capcoms anyways. Yeah, I would have prefered other characters though. Like maybe the Shocker. Or who\'s that guy with the dome on his head? Electro? Anyways, he\'s my favorite. I really look forward to renting the game if the movie place from Hades decides to stock it (Movie Gallery of Kingstree).

Well, this looks interesting enough for me to get a try at it.
VENOM PLAYABLE, yeah right... something with venom, eh? Well, if you got the title of \'Most Venonous Gamer\' (meaning you\'re a top game critc) on some board, you wouldn\'t need that. But since I didn\'t get it, I\'ll try the game. (I would\'ve nonetheless, but his way it seems like I actually have a good reason! :P)

Ultimate Spider-Man was an absolute blast to play, however, it was unfortunately abit short I felt. The game features the most stylish method for storytelling I have ever seen in a game based off a comic book. I\'d have preferred if the game was based on the original Spider-Man Universe(mmmm with say a story like the first twelve issues of Marvel Knights Spider-Man - now that would rock) instead of taking place in the Ultimate universe, but oh well. You take what you get, ya?

Playing as Venom was actually fun too, I thought. I enjoyed being Spider-Man more, but it was fun playing as Venom. Oh, if only I could play the story again without having to redo everything..

Overall, I\'ve never had as much fun with a Spider-Man game was I did with Ultimate Spider-Man.

Oh, and the game has absolutely nothing to do with the MTV animated show. It\'s based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, which isn\'t exactly the same thing.

Venom was made playable because he is hands down the most popular villain to ever come out of Spider-Man. While he\'s not actually Spider-Man\'s best enemy, he is the most recognized and most popular. For example, Venom\'s the only Spider-Man villain who was popular enough to have his own comics. From a business perspective, playing as Venom makes alot of sense.

Long time members of this board might be able to guess who I\'d prefer to play as if I was able to play as a villain, but honestly, I don\'t think there\'s a single Spider-Man villain that wouldn\'t be fun to play as if done right. Though some of the villains would be more humourous than anything.

How ignorant. The comparison is absolutely horrible. Terminator was originally a movie, so it\'s natural that the franchise has a more realistic look when branching out into other mediums. Spider-Man was originally a comic and is a comic before it is anything else. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the franchise staying true to it\'s roots when entering other mediums.

People need to stop bitching about the presentation of things. I really can\'t see why people care so much about something so superficial.

Untrue. Venom\'s appearance in the game is actually quite faithful to how Mark Bagley drew him in Ultimate Spider-Man.

I recently picked it up. Just as I had expected, the graphics were amazing. Stupendously close to what is featured in the comic books. And I personally thought that Venom had a great look to him. Venom looks good everywhere.

However, I did find that playing as Venom was awfully lacking. I mean, come on, the only side missions you can take are races, which Venom was never intended to do. The game was also pretty short, and there was an irritating lack of enemy types. Really, I\'d say that what the game lacked was variety (only races and beating up 4 types of guys?) and length (short on boss fights... wait, where\'s Doctor Octopus?).

Is it the Green Goblin, Necro? I remember he used to be your avatar. I still occasionally imagine you as the Green Goblin and HollowTorment as Venom.

I\'ll agree that the game did have a lack of variety. I didn\'t feel it really hurt the game until you finish it however. While you spend alot of time chasing villains across the city, I honestly found doing so very enjoyable.

Though, I have to admit, I wish the game didn\'t take place almost entirely outside. I recall when Activision\'s first Spider-Man game hit the current generation of consoles, many people complained that the indoor levels were poorly done but praised the stages taking place outside. It seems, that with Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man, Activision and Treyarch have ditched the indoor levels(though, maybe the openended nature of the game has something to do with this), which I honestly miss. The outdoor aspects of USM are great, but sneaking around indoors would have been great too if pulled off properly. It\'s disappointing that they opted to leave them out completely instead of improving them. The bank stage in the first PSX Spider-Man is still one of my favorite in any Spider-Man game to this day.

And yes, I\'d love to play as the Green Goblin (don\'t mention that you can in the Spider-Man movie game. I\'m already aware of this). Though, I\'d much rather play as the Classic Green Goblin as opposed to Ultimate. I want my glider.

Ok, Necro when you say Venom was the most well known your right but there was another, I think. Carnage, what happened to good old Carnage. Yes He was in Ultimate Spider-Man, I\'m pretty sure he was atleast, if you count the T.V. show atleast.

If you\'re an idiot I guess you can read this.

For those of you slow enough not to realize it like myself this game is based on the ultimate Spiderman comic book series. All this means is this game has the same characters as before only with modified background and a slightly different story. In this game you are Spiderman as he was in high school being forced by your ideal of justice to defend the city from sinister foes. And how could we do this without our super human abilities which are all accessible in this game. Seriously in this game you can wall crawl, web up opponents, web sling, double jump, and of course you have the spider sense. The game negatively doesn’t give you much moves to do in terms of combat. It only forces you to use the same combos time after time because you can’t unlock combos in fact you can’t really unlock anything. You are given two extra moves to your combo as you progress through this game and you could gain three notches of speed on your web sling that isn’t even noticeable. Now for all you Venom fans guess who you can play with in an appropriate way....that’s right Venom is accessible in this game and he is extremely fun to use. He has an amazing vertical leap instead of Spidey’s web sling, a whip like arm, the ability to throw cars, and the power to absorb people’s energy which is needed to feed the suit because if it’s hunger isn’t quenched you will slowly lose some of your health time after time. Venom is nowhere near as agile as Spiderman where as Spiderman is nowhere near as powerful as Venom so this will force you to change your battle strategy as you play through the game. The game also has free roam which is as normal in super hero games as slow-mo is in 3rd person shooting games. The game really comes through in the boss battles for you have the most enemies ever offered in a Spiderman game to date and each and everyone are fun and exciting to battle. Negatively before most boss fight you’ve got to do a chase..... if you were wondering what is that noise you heard it was me vomiting to the idea. You end up doing the same things over and over. For example rescuing people who the villain hurt to slow you down in your daring chase, but the real tediousness comes from the side missions you get in free roam which are still the same from the game Spiderman 2.

Carnage is actually fairly popular - or at least he used to be. It\'s possible that with the emergence of the movies, that this changed. But I do remember from when I was younger, that most people seemed to have the misinformed idea that Venom and Carnage were Spider-Man\'s best enemies.

I was unaware that there even WAS a so called... \"Ultimate\" Spiderman. And comparison is not ignorant, my friend. I could compare it to more along the lines of \"Captain America and The Avengers\" for Sega Genisis *GREAT Game* Imagine first beholding Iron Man as a comic book character *old style, not this new crap we see so often* and then playing him in that game. It\'s close... 32 bit wise. But then seeing a deformed version of him in these bright, broke-ass colors. Doesn\'t work for some people.

Um, can you read? I never said that your comparison was ignorant. I said it was horrible. There is absolutely no reason why Terminator would look cartoonish; logically, a video game would try to have graphics that had the same feel as it\'s source material. Which then it makes sense why Ultimate Spider-Man looks the way it does. You\'ve done nothing to refute this logic. In fact, your second arguement actually supports what I\'m saying. Although the graphics are sprites, the graphics in Captain America and the Avengers actually recreates a look common to the characters from the comics.

I called you ignorant because you said they should have stayed away from the comic style graphics. Spider-Man is first and foremost a comic.

However, I really don\'t understand why you\'re arguing back. Perhaps you\'re upset that I called you ignorant. I don\'t know. Nowhere in my post did I tell you that you had to like the graphics.

Know what I don\'t like about this game (style-wise)?

Spidey looks like a FRICKIN WOMAN. I know it\'s probably Ultimate\'s style (even though I\'ve never seen him that womanly in Ultimate..) but UGH.

Otherwise, the game looks great, especially with the way the story is told.

ONOS the story is told with COMIC PANELS wtf?!11 they act liek spidey is a comik

Whether or not you actually meant it or not, you did suggest that the game should have strayed away from it\'s comic book style. Which is still an ignorant suggestion. There\'s very little room to argue there.

Which is why you probably brought up that you think he looks funny. That\'s nice you think he does. I never once told you that you have to like the style of the game\'s graphics nor did I tell you that I myself even like them. Given this, I don\'t understand why you feel the need to retort.

What I did tell you that your comparisons were logically flawed. There is a logical reason as to why the game looks the way it does, but again, I never said you had to like it.

I\'ve never seen the Ultimate series, so I can\'t compare between those too, but if I don\'t like the way the art is done here, then I most likely wouldn\'t like the Ultimate show or Comics.

I\'m not saying that it won\'t work for them, it just... I don\'t like it. It\'s kind of like a Tim Burton rendition in some ways.

It just strikes me as vomitingly poor.

That\'s okay. It\'s your opinion and you\'re entitled to it.
