Hey, Zera here. I am posting this because newcomers sometimes come here posting things that have been been posted before, and it gets annoying... So read below:

Ok, so, you want to post a topic. Maybe people will agree to your idea or answer your question, oh boy! Now, you\'re reaching for your \"New Topic\" button... STOP RIGHT THERE! Now, think about your question. Is it worth asking it? Is it appropriate? Is it something someone else has asked? Is it spam? Ask yourself these questions... Read below on what to do if you know the answer to any of them.

1. Q: Is it worth asking?
A: Depends, if it is something you already know the answer to, don\'t. Refer to 3.

2. Q: Is it appropriate?
A: Refer to the Rules

3. Q: Is it something someone else has asked?
A: To find out, go to your little search button at the top and type in the keywords to your question/idea and click \"Search\". After that, look at a topic that comes up that you think is most related to your question/idea. Read it. Does it look like what you were about to type about before I told you to stop?
Now, if you did not see any results, you should be good to go!

4. Q: Is it spam?
A: If it is, DO NOT POST. You\'ll regret it...

Ok, if you went through all of these, you\'re good to go! Go ahead, post...

Definition of spam- Spam is what it stands for- Stupid Pointless Annoying Messages. By posting spam, you are making stupid posts that make no sence and are not the worth the time to type, read, or make. By posting spam, you are making a bad reputation for yourself and getting yourself one step closer to being banned.

Spam

Q: What is the Search?
A: It is a tool used by users to find topics they can\'t find or they use it to find if there is a topic related to what they want to post. If they find it, they will not post something just like it. It will be spam.

Q: Where do I find spam?
A: The Search button is up on the far left. In the following pic, I have circled it in red. Pic

Q: How do I use this wonderful tool?
A: The Search tool is a lot easier than you would think. Simply click on the Search option (Here is a link ). Now, you have 4 options in how to search. I will explain each below:

Search for: Here, you will type in the keywords of what you are looking for. Quite easy...

by (username): Here you type the name of somebody and search for topics made by them.

in (forum): Here you can search everyone on this message board, or just different parts, like the X Series or Chit-Chat

from: Here you choose from how far back you want to find. If you want to find a topic on a question or something you\'re not sure has been posted yet.

And yes, you can combine these in any way you think your search will come out better in.

Please explain what Spam is, also you should post the exact rule instead of just linking to the rules as a whole. Big paragraphs only confuse n00bs.

Also, another very important rule..use good grammar and punctuation. :P The shift key is there for a reason, use it.

I put the definition of spam on there.

About the rules... if I posted them here, wouldn\'t it just be the same amount if they clicked on the link? ;)

That too is funny:)
And I never knew \'till now what SPAM stood for...kool:cool:
Oh, and thanks for the info on the search. I never did understand how that thing worked--if I did in the past I have forgoten.

Anyways, very nice topic Zera. Glad someone may have finally found a way to reduce the amount of n00bish acts.

Most of this is just a more general version of the rules. I think you need to explain the \"search\" feature about where it is and how to use it, etc. before just telling them to use it.

Despite the fact that most of these are either blindingly obvious, or are answered in the question itself.

Being a n00b is all about asking the plain obvious.

Unless they meant to purposefully SPAM, this is useless, and even if they did mean to purposefully SPAM, it\'s still useless because they\'re going to do it anyway!

It\'s about as useful as:
Quote:
Q: Should you post it?
A: If not, don\'t

New members aren\'t nesecarily idiots, and if they are being here a few months, years of even decades won\'t change that. So don\'t say \"Newbies are dim, be obvious\", because they merely need informing. I think that some of the answers can be found in the FAQ, so I think a good rule might be to look there before asking anything about the board. Then and only then, if can\'t find anything, create a thread about it.
