I can\'t help it, I busted up laughing when I read the 3rd link! I, personally, haven\'t had much to do with emo\'s, I never met one or anything. I have seen them all over the place in school, though. Gimme more info, I find this funny...however sad it is that the person is the way it is. Goths are similar to emo\'s, aren\'t they?

You are completely right Windy. Emos are just cowards that can\'t face the real world so they blame it on others. If they can\'t live a life everyone else is living, then yes, they DO deserve to die. For the record for yo punk ass, Emily Dickenson wrote emo poems with illogical grammar and punctuation and she\'s famous. Famous like a fox.

And yes she is being an idiot. Why? Because...unless she\'s paraplegic and typing with her tongue, there\'s not much to be emo about. Most of these kids don\'t even know what it\'s like to be in pain, or at the end of your rope. It\'s just funny.

I honestly do wish DA would filter out the kiddies that don\'t want critiques, just ban them all. This is the internet. It\'s public. When you put your art/poetry/stories/face/etc in public it WILL be criticised. Don\'t want critiques? Don\'t show it to the public. It is THAT simple. But alot of people aren\'t too intelligent when it comes to this.

Believe it or not but the \"emo\" scene wasn\'t always like this. Emo (in the 80\'s) used to be a offshoot of hardcore punk with more guitar oriented melodies. The early bands didn\'t really do anything too different than those of the hardcore scene. They drank, did the drugs, and wrote songs about not fitting in. They dressed pretty much the same as hardcore, too. They wore all the stuff that they wanted from big shorts to business suits.

And with all those there were a few about romance (tell me one band that hasn\'t done one). This much later (as in recently) became all bands of this sub-genre\'s writing style. As time moved on (from the death and then revival in 2002 or whatever) the song structure got a lot more generic and uninspired. This is the \"emo\" we know today.

Emo cannot be classed as music with emotion for this is all music. All music exists to say something or make the listener feel something. The type we know today is sooooo far from it\'s roots that it really shouldn\'t be considered the same thing.

Where the name came from:

X = incorrect. As with all new waves of music (no matter how small) there is someone that will coin a name that sticks to it. I forget who it was that said it but they referred to it as a wave of emotionally charged hardcore bands. That name over time fell to simply emo.

I find it amusing how a group of people that started off with the idea of self freedom and the \"I don\'t care what you say\" attitude evolved into a group of overly socially conscience sheep.

Who then? I only diss people who diss me. These people who called themselves \"EMO(tional people)\"... yeah, they ARE, but you should ask yourself one thing: in what way? You can be emotional like: \"geez i hate evrybodi teh wolrd socks lets go be emo\". Those are the people I want to keep off my lawn.

Goths and Punks? Hey, the ones who don\'t bother me, I don\'t bother. I just hate Marilyn Manson with his facism of Christianity. Where and when in the name of all that you could hold holy is or was Christianity facistic? Alright, people weren\'t always considered equal and gay people used to be burned alive. But that\'s WAY in the past (though some people still not consider everybody as \'equal\').


BTW, the dude who is most GOTH of all, is Micheal Jackson. First his body was black, then he fell asleep in an acidic bath and when he woke up his body was white, but his soul was... well... really dark pink?

Goths are emos that wear makeup. REAL goths are a whole \'nother bowl of cereal. But I only know of one real goth in all my encounters..and they\'re so different than the usual goth you see around town. It\'s just stupid..you say they\'re not the same, but they both have the exact same crap in common.. And why should we give any kind of respect to people who scream \"DON\'T JUDGE ME!!!!\" every 5 minutes and end up hating you just because you don\'t like an emo band?

And Morph, about Manson.. It\'s sad that you take him seriously, honestly. Manson is the biggest joker in rock now, he loves making up crazy stories and being as controversial as possible...he does this for theatrics and shock value. And of course for attention. Folks like you give him his well-deserved attention..he works hard enough. He goes to church with his parents for Necro\'s sake. And oh...side note there? Gay people are still being killed because they\'re gay. And I see no damn equality wherever I go.

THe truth is Wind brings a point. Alot of People decide that they need a special EMO version of themselves to appear cool. Now, because of Linkin\' Park\'s popularity that number can only keep rising. Think this over, half of today\'s \"Rock\" bands play EMO songs so that they can look incredibly cool and eventually make illusions that they lead exciting yet troubled lives.

Listen very closely I don\'t have problems with Goths it\'s just the fact that the EMO craze went far enough to bring them back into context. I don\'t hate the fact they are back I hate the fact that EMO is causing people to turn into things they really aren\'t.
Example(this is real): My friend considers himself a goth yet still keeps Motivational posters hanging on his walls. *ding* my point exactly.

I know lots of goths, and hardly any of them are suicidal or self harming or in any way masachistic or even close to emo.

I know one \"emo\". I say \"emo\", but the only emo thing about him is that he likes Linkin Park (among others). He doesn\'t act emotional, let alone depressed, so in what sense he is an \"emo\", I\'ll get back to you on.

However, emo as a music style, I pretty much hate above all music styles, even that crap chavs like.

About Marilyn Manson, yeah, I think he\'s a bit of a twat, too. If I like something, I like it for the music. As far as Marilyn Manson goes, the music is second to image, which is why I have very little respect for him.
