...It turns out that the US has a national association dedicated to proper hotdog ettiqute. And they have decreed that no one over 18 should have ketchup on their hotdogs.

Well, fuck that. I happen to like ketchup on my hotdogs, and now I'm just going to put it on out of spite.

^^^ Lol. Soooo true.

Frankly, (no pun intended) stupidity is just one of those things that will outsurvive everything: hot dogs, water, even God. There will ALWAYS be stupidity. Everywhere.

This is a fact that I utter with extreme difficulty.

I wish it weren't so, but it is.

I hate those who think hotdogs should only be eaten with mustard. What the hell, now we have RULES on EATING?

If someone wants to put ketchup on their 50 dollar steak, I say go for it and enjoy it. Same with hotdogs.

Silly Rioni, they are saying only children below 18 can have the ketchup. Therefore, you being over, can only eat mustard and onions.

Sorry.

Phew, what a relief. Thought this was a topic about me. X, NO MORE MISLEADING TITLES. Either way, my Costco in this city does not even SERVE ketchup with their hotdogs as an option. When I asked why, the explained that only adults can have memberships and don't bring their kids often. So I can honestly say "Thank you, X, for clearing this up."

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who finds this completely silly and pointless! I'll keep on using my ketchup thank you very much.

The way Mega X puts it sounds like the funny rules that kids like to force on each other sometimes: "Okay, today you can't touch the lines of the sidewalk!"

Is... is there a reason? Or are they just limiting adults?

Huh... that's really bizarre. "Ketchup Hot Dogs: They're not just for kids." :P

Of course you are, dear wife. I wasn't nitpicking you. Please don't put me in the doghouse again.

With ketchup-less hotdogs.

Please.

Mega.. is the stupidity the decree... or all the people buying into this story? Given past experience, it's hard to tell whether there really is a decree so stupid, or you're just trying to trick us all.. =p

I'm afraid I actually saw this in the newspaper. You can usually tell when I'm not being truthful since the topic should say "UnNews". But yeah, this one's real.

And since stupidity is being mentioned, let me point to mad political tension in the Middle East, which my friends happen to be discussing exactly right now, next to me.

I eat my hot dogs without anything, so I can form an even smarter group. I hereby start the Association for Eating Hot Dogs with Nothing on Them.

The AEHDNT declares that hot dogs should be rightfully eaten plain--sausage on bun. The AEHDNT also declares that doing otherwise is a crime punishable by taking away 500 GP, denying camera phone usage between 3am and 6am (time local to convicted), and forcing the convicted to bathe with brightly-colored plastic machine tools.

That is, us guys OVER 18 are the screwed ones, not the younguns. Xp

To be honest, I always figured Ketsup the more appropriate default condiment for Hotdogs and Hamburgers alike, and not Mustard...

... I actually hate mustard... incredibly, might I add.

Good thing I don't like ketchup. I don't know why... I use to when I was younger, but later on, the taste was too sweet to put on food. Yup, my fries are always ketchup-less. ^^

Ketchup fans over 18 can use catsup, though. They banned ketchup, but not catsup! Really, is there a difference?

If I remember right, the "Nathan's Hotdog Eating Contest" was held about a month ago. This rule was probably for only that contest, not as a global rule of etiquette. Still, I don't quite understand the rule since condiments are optional...

It's an actual etiquette rule, for the 'proper' way to eat hot dogs.
