No kidding wind...I mean come on he was a freakin' bad ass. He would jump in the water with 15 foot crocks and catch the BY HAND! the most deadly snake IN THE WORLD went down his shirt and he came out unharmed.

this really does make me sad. This was a guy who loved what he did. He was excited about living, and teaching people about animals that they would normally have no love what-so-ever for. I have a lot of respect for him. He was really one of a kind.

I always wanted to meet him, he always seemed like a guy that anyone could get along with. Man I just can't believe it...T_T

I'm not sad.. He died doing what he loved, and what's better than that? The only thing that would make this sad, is if people start hating stingrays or something. He got bitten, tore up and jostled by tons of animals, but always went right back to them, so I don't think he'd want you to hate any of them.

Either way, it's a real shame. I've never been affected by the death of a celebrity... this would be the first time one's death bothered me. =/

Darn. Is this true?!

Well, at least he died doing something he loved. Steve, you will be sorely missed. Good luck with those nasty crocs up in heaven. ;)

EDIT:

This might possibly be the best Steve Irwin tribute, ever.

Wow..I really can't believe it. I was waiting for it yes, cause I knew it'd happen this way. Not like this though, not like this. I really am bothered, I used to love is show. I watched it whenever I could, and now that he's gone....The child in me is crying.

Ah well, didn't really care much for him one way or the other. Good for him that he died doing what he enjoyed, at least.

This made me silent. Really silent. Truly, even in my sleep have I not been this silent. Perhaps only on my grandfather's funeral some more.

This is uncalled for. He was such a good man, really enthusiastic and active with his job and overall life. I feel truly sorry for all the ones who can call them his friends, and above all, his family of course.

But I agree, a better death in the area of what to do around the time you die, it was good, he died doing what he loved most.

I would take off my cap for thee, but alas, I do not bear one such cloth.

But to be honest, is anyone actually surprised that he died? I mean the way he lived his life and all, it had to happen sooner or later.

It's sad, I know. But like people have said, he died doing the thing he loved most. And if anybody has a right to hate stingrays, it's him... but I don't think he would if he were still here. I think that one of the best ways he can honor his memory is to just leave the damn things alone.

Farewell, Steve "Crikey!" Irwin. You left us too soon. I salute you.

And don't worry, we've forgiven you for the baby thing in '04 ;)

I'm not so surprised that he died per say, although I expected him to die more "heroic-like", at the hands of a crocodile of poisonous snake while saving the life of a dignatary's baby. But...*sigh*...at least the guy died doing something he loved, and that's something you have to tip your hat to. It's strange, the guy had a charisma about him that made you feel like he was an easy fellow to make friends with.

Steve lived a good life, I hope he says hi to the big man for me.

I knew something like this would happen. It only goes to show that wild animals are truly wild and unpredictable. Expert or not, everyone should take utmost care on handling them.

Still, it is disheartening to hear Steve Irwin died. Condolences to his wife and baby...

I'm not so sure he'd be happy to die that way... as a father, don't you think he'd rather die of old age, after having spent years with his wife, kids, grandkids? Knowing his work had succeeded?

I found something interesting today: the Prime Minister of Australia gave a short interview on TV, and he did look very sad toward this incident. A bit more and we'd have seen a tear or two. I think that this shows how important Steve Irwin was to some people.

I don't find this death to be too "simple", unlike others. It isn't a crocodile, yes, but it is a potentially dangerous animal anyway. It's a shame, in any case...

This makes me happy I saw him at Australia Zoo last year and not this year. But damn, A stingray STABBED him, it's a freak accident according to CNN, believe me, I petted a stingray before. Although the guy was nuts, feeding Agro(the fiercest and biggest croc at his zoo) while holding his baby, then he had the baby walk around THE FREAKEN' CROC POOL WHILE HE WAS HOLDING IT!

Steve Irwin killed Chuck Norris- while holding his baby in his hand.

R.I.P. ... I miss the guy already :(

The one that was really televised was him feeding Murray while holding baby Bob...

This is sad. I didn't watch his show much but I did sometimes, and when I did I liked it. He was still cool though. As others have said, at least he died doing what he loved. The ironic thing is that he was doing the documentary to prove that sting rays are not dangerous. Also, on Animal Planet they where showing his show all the time last night, and while I was watching it I heard this really wierd noise. *shudder* God Bless Steve's Soul. :(

I had heard it was Agro, but I guess with crocodiles none of them are jokes...

Yeah, my friend Peyola told me about that :( Man, it really brought me down. He was an awesome guy, and one heck-of-a daredevil--I mean, what kinda guy wrestles with crocks? :)

Vaya con Dios, Mr. Irwin, and may your spirit find peace :(

well they are supposed to not make sense.
it's my alter ego getting mad at the first stingray he sees, in this case Jet Stingray, because of the dead of Steve Irwin

back to topic: i just read on CNN.com that Steve pulled out the needle after being stabbed, i say OMG he got stung in the Heart but was still alive and pulled it out, althought afterwards he died

if you don't believe me read it for yourself http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/09/05/irwin.death/index.html

the movie where he was stung can't be seen, it's with the police (are they going to arrest the stingray?), and perhaps we will never see it.

God, this is pretty crazy.
I mean, just thinking about it, the coolest guy I admired as a child, gone.
Though, I would like to die like this, too, not some boring way like old age. =/
This was really unexpected, though, and with the whole
STINGRAY killing him doesn't change it at all.

We'll all surely miss you, Steve Irwin,
REST IN PEACE.

Its strange and sorta ironic how he died. I actualy liked sting rays. I just cant be mad at them I've actualy touched one or maybe a regular ray. but theyre so you know when you touch them like a dolphin. I guess I'll kinda not favor the sting ray for a while. I'll switch to Otters. Theyre fasinating. But I wont entirely hate sting rays Steves family is a different story and might hate them. We all must remember though through that old saying Its the circle of life. They also say when theres death theres life(meaning a new born any animal possibly).

If they understood Steve at all, I don't think they would hate the stingray for doing just what it thought it needed to do to protect itself.
