Capcom has confirmed not too long ago the real name for the game we kept calling "Ryuusei no Rockman", or something similar. The English name will be Mega Man Star Force. It sounds odd at the beginning, but was Mega Man Battle Network any less strange when you first heard it? Besides, the new name makes sense once you read the press release...
The thing is, I didn't really follow much the developments on that game until the official North American announcement, so while I knew the rough basis, I didn't know much about the details. Is it me, or does the story sounds lame? I'll highlight a few sentences:
"The Wave Road exists in the real world, however it is only visible to those from the mysterious planet FM and the game’s hero who, through a twist of fate, transforms into EM waves himself."
"mysterious planet FM", eh? So in 22XX, they finally managed space travel in the Battle Network world?
"When he puts on these special goggles, a specific wave is triggered, summoning the presence of a mysterious alien life form named Warlock who had escaped from the planet FM."
That mysterious alien life form happens to be compatible with their wave network only, obviously.
"New battle system"
It looks similar enough to the current MMBN battle system, only with a new perspective...
Also, there's the fact that the game will be released in three versions: Pegesus, Leo and Dragon. As if double-releases weren't bad enough...
I suppose that it will take me some time to "take in" these news. After all, the first information about the first Mega Man Battle Network game didn't sound too great either, and the first art was horrible. Any thoughts about this upcoming title?
