I have always looked at the MM games as just different series. I never cared about some lame story interconnecting them all.

The cartoony MM8 look was one of the best parts about it. Revel in the Saturday morning silliness!

I don't ever want to see him die either. However, if there was an X9, they could certainly clear up wether or not Sigma essentially died in X8.

YAY!

They say he did because he was on the moon with no place close enough to go. The sad thing with Capcom's story writers is that Lumine had the Virus in his chameleon chip - all Sigma had to do was go and join it. And notice that's when Lumine starts to get really loopy.

And plus, he stepped on Sigma's body much like Sigma did to Zero's when he was infected - calinky-dink?

I.
THINK.
NOT.

The moral of this story? Don't step on the heads of Mavericks.

More globally: good guys who step on the heads of bad guys WILL become bad guys.

I knew Mario had something up his sleeve...

Anyway, about the timeline. How is it proven that Legends is last and BN/SF are in their own timeline? I'm just a tad curious.

Well, I for one, certainly hope that the BN/SF series are not connected to the rest of the Mega Man universe...

Boy am glad that your truth corner agrees with me. Everything that's stated there have been different things I've had to argue with people on the Capcom board, and all accounts my idea of the "truth" goes right in line with the one on this site.

Well, it's good to know I can trust at least ONE source out there, thanks Doc.

There actually might not need to be a connection between MM and X, because the deaths of Light and Wily don't have to be amazing, they could just pass on. An X -> Zero is very much needed, especially to sort out the Sigma/Mother Elf confusion. Zero -> ZX isn't necessary, but a bit more background on that transistion might be nice. As for ZX -> watever lies on -> Legends, I have no idea...

I have always had the idea of ending the original series with the X series. In X9, you could kill two birds with one stone.

Duo, or perhaps another character from the original series could come back into the X series. Upon his return, he mentions certain events that accured during the past, with that said, X and Zero set of on an adventure to dig up some unknown ruins. Of course there would be bosses, but instead of having elemental creatures for bosses, Warrior Alienoids could be the new set of bosses. Such as Shinobi Scorpnipod or Pharaoh Griphinx and Yamato Komodrako.

In general, they find out several things about there past, such as what happened to Mega Man and the rest of the crew? What happened after the Zero onslaught in the original series?

Honestly, I believe the game would make insane sales, and Capcom could regain some of the fandome who got lost and outrage during the lose of plotholes.

It'll be a smart move.

To which I have 1 word to say, Capcom. They don't care how many fans they screw over if they make a profit. And it looks like the Original and X part of the timeline have been abandoned, due to the focus on Star Force and ZX.

I will say it again, there is no good way to bridge the gap between the lighthearted MM series, and the dark X series that won't piss off about half the fans.

Seriously, ambiguous is good here.

I dunno...personally I'd do one last game, leave it open for future Classic stories but bring things to a conclusion in the same way-Wily continues Zero and Light makes X, Bass maybe decides to reform a bit more, deal with Protoman, etc. That would work well and not neccessarily have to signal a shift of tone from Classic to X.

Somehow I actually care more about the gap between X and Zero, than the gap between X and original. I guess it's just because I gave up hope on a Megaman 9 or X.5.
