How many of you have heard about the Enix and Square megring deal, as of April 1st, 2003? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Personally, I\'m more inclined to Square\'s works. However, I doubt anything bad could come as a result of the two companies becoming one. Actually, I think it sounds great myself. I\'ve heard some of the people who worked on Chrono Trigger, ended up working on Dragon Quest afterwards, with Enix. Perhaps, now if Square goes to work on Chrono Break, they\'ll be able to get those who left for Dragon Quest to work on it, including Toriyama with the character designs. While I mean no disrespect to Chrono Cross, I think it\'s possible we could end up seeing a better sequel to Chrono Trigger on our hands.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

[font=Verdana]Yikes. Enix and square merging? I don\'t take that as a good thing at all. I never liked Enix much, they only ever produced a few good games in my opinion. I think Squaresoft should just go on the way it is. This would probably ruin them even more than they\'ve already started to ruin themselves/[/font]

Enix has made some good games..Square will probably ruin em.

I think it\'s a good idea if it benefits my Chrono Trigger sequel... Hopefully they won\'t screw over Dragon Warrior though, even though I\'ve never played it. o.o

From what I\'ve read, neither companies will screw with eithers flagship series. That doesn\'t mean they won\'t be working together on games, just it doesn\'t seem like it\'ll change much. Hopefully, one of the things they do work on together, will be the Chrono Series.

From a business aspect, this deal is a brilliant move, I think. Enix\'s games tend to sell better in Japan, but Square does better over in North America and Europe than Enix.. so the deal should benefit both.

What I do find odd though, is that while it looks like Enix will be more dominant after the deal, Square\'s President will be the President of the new company, and Enix\'s will be the Vice President. o.O

Well, Microsoft got Rare, Pac, but hopefully that\'s all, and not the develpors you\'ve listed. We really don\'t need them monopolizing video games..
