So I saw the midnight show of Spider-Man 3 tonight. I feel the movie was quite fun and rather entertaining, but at the same time was rather messy. The action was superb, but many scenes in which were supposed to be serious just seemed silly to me. I didn't really have high expectations so I can't say I'm disappointed, but I think it was easily the worst of the three. Too much going on and the three villains seem wasted to me. But to say it wasn't an entertaining movie would be an outright lie.
I also found it annoying how anytime a masked character got a good closeup, whatever covered their face would just disappear. Lame. Nothing major but still, lame.
The dance scenes were somewhat inappropriate for the movie but I enjoyed them immensely.
The movie retained the same sense of humour that the first two did, which I found refreshing because I was expecting it to tread into darker territory. Overall I actually think the third was funnier than the first two, though some of it detracted from the movie.
I felt the scenes with Flint Marko killing Uncle Ben that Peter imagine just seemed cheesy.
I liked Sandman but there wasn't nearly enough of him. Venom was a complete waste. I did not enjoy seeing Harry take Peter's side at the end, and felt it was a waste of the development done with him in the first two movies. However, the wink after he told Peter he was the other guy was absolutely priceless. I think all three villains would have worked seperately and it would have been alot better if Raimi stuck to the formula of the first two movies and just kept one per movie. They just felt wasted.
All I can think of at the moment.
To those that have seen it, your thoughts? ;o
