IT HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE SEEN IT!
And it was actually pretty good! I was expecting something cringy and off-brand, but no, it worked. I think they did about the best they could have with the cartoon-character-gets-thrown-into-the-real-world trope. I was hoping, when they announced the redesign and then the delay, that it was because they cared enough to try, and they did. They knew their material, even if the setting is completely different.
Random thoughts, very very mild spoilers.

- I was on board the moment the Sega logo at the beginning went SAY-GAH! It was instrumental, not voiced, but still. Nice choice there, considering it's no longer the main corporate jingle.
- There was a dig at Mario early on. It felt appropriate.
- Sanic cameo! Perfectly placed too.
- Robotnik was a lot of fun the way Jim Carrey played it. More of this please.

- I think half the crowd went "aww" when the little girl gave Sonic his characteristic red shoes.
- TAILS CAMEO
Let's be honest, it's not great cinema, but it was entertaining. I hadn't laugh that much at a movie in a while. In the end, I think the fun part is what really matters!
