IT HAS HAPPENED. I HAVE SEEN IT!

And it was actually pretty good! I was expecting something cringy and off-brand, but no, it worked. I think they did about the best they could have with the cartoon-character-gets-thrown-into-the-real-world trope. I was hoping, when they announced the redesign and then the delay, that it was because they cared enough to try, and they did. They knew their material, even if the setting is completely different.

Let's be honest, it's not great cinema, but it was entertaining. I hadn't laugh that much at a movie in a while. In the end, I think the fun part is what really matters!

Well, I never thought we'd see the day, but there's an actual Tetris movie, and it's dropping next month.

And it looks pretty solid. Okay, sure, I'm in!

There is a movie called "Ax 'Em". Every preview on the VHS before it plays is for Ax 'Em. At the beginning of the movie, a woman gets killed by being hit in the head with a rotary phone. The killer smashes her head, and then about 3 seconds later (not for comedy or scifi reasons or anything like that), she falls over and is dead.

He is entirely correct. At least the originals. Took me like 5 tries to be able to watch more then a half hour or any of tht which such terrible acting and everything. And that was in 2007, and I still couldn't finish.

Star Wars was originally liked for "having special effects", because apparently that somehow actually mattered in a movie in the 70s, enough to make a movie popular just solely on that apparently. Because it definitely want from actually bing a good - or even watchable - movie/trilogy.

It wasn't from "Oh look, sci-fi exists! Yay!". Actually, it isn't even sci-fi. If you go and look up an "official" or "academic" definition of that. Anyway, "I am a nerd and this is in space" (because geeks didn't exist yet) also isn't a reason for grossing. Because lots and lots and lots of sci-fi or similar stories existed before the 70s. Not just Star Trek only. Lots more. Plus, books. Books with topics, and meanings. Books are a while "new thing"; "shirt story award" and "sci-fi zines" existed for good reason. People too young might not be aware of what sci-fi is really about; not space and technology and time travel only. But extreme uniqueness and different thought concepts for the morals parts. Aside from the Twilight Zone/Outer Limits stuff (which was also in the 60s before Star Wars).

So people in a movie theater in 1977 like "lightsabers are cool". Okay. Vaguely sort-of almost sensical. Kind-of. But people who exist and have seen at least 15 movies before in their life and are 15+ years old and it's currently 2002. No, not sensical. You've seen other movies. And you've seen glowing things On your own toys, when you were 2 and 5, because sometimes they have LED lights or others. Sure, lightsabers are still cool sometimes. Especially when they're used in a fight between martial arts squirrels. You don't need a generic story with horrible acting, slow pacing, at least half the time having not even any words for minutes plus, and many parts that don't even make sense, as in "I literally have no idea what is happening or why this scene exists". Because it's well past the 80s since the first day that you were old enough to have ever heard of it, and you can easily see that lightsabers can exist without any bad movies involved in them. (Well a really they can't exist, because literal lasers cannot be made to "just end", so all beams would be infinite or would be slowly fading out. But pretend lightsabers can exist.) And they are also perhaps in your toybox.

Of course it's Sony who gets the Labubu movie.
