I'm surprised no one has posted a Transformers topic already. I guess the torch has been passed to me!

Now, I'll admit that at first I thought the movie was going to be...uh...bad, to put it in nicer terms. But I saw the newer, more kickass trailer with the explosions and transformations and such, and I began to anticipate the movie's release.

So, I saw Transformers with a couple of friends the day after it came out and I have to say that is was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. The CGI is beyond anything done previously and the combat and transformation scenes were exectuted very, very well. The plot was pretty good, although they basically tried to stretch the plot of the original Transformers cartoon into that of a full-length motion picture, but I had no problem with that..

There was touches of humor here and there and the acting was quite believable. There were unexpected actors in the movie as well.

Jon Voight with a shotgun is the coolest thing ever!

I waited a whole year for this movie and it did not disappoint. Excellent transformations, great humor (it is based on a kid's show, after all), and awesome scrappin'. I'm buyin' that DVD for damn sure.

Due to hype and not wanting things spoiled for me and such, I feigned total disinterest in this movie since the announcement of its release. Frankly, I've never been one to want to discuss a movie much before I see it. I've also never been huge into Transformers- I never really caught it on as a kid. (I adored Beastwars, though.) I wasn't sure if this was going to be good or not, but I wasn't about to judge it without seeing it.

It was awesome. Hands down, outta this world, awesome. No, it wasn't the best movie I ever saw- I still reserve that for the Lord of the Rings trilogy- (to each their own, neh?) but it was very well done, and I don't honestly think I could come up with much way to improve it. I really enjoyed it, despite the fact that the morons at the theater didn't turn the stupid overhead lights off. I think this'll be a must-have for me when it comes out on DVD.

I"m going to ruin the hurrahs with a meh. Okay for one, I CAN NOT stomach Shia Lebouf, while every other casting call seems good Shia just isn't... I was hoping for a bit more fleshed out plot, and a few other minor things.

Dranzer's grade= B-

Sorry Dranzer, but you fail for expecting a detailed plot from a Transformers movie. I mean seriously, watch the 80s cartoon sometime. Yeah. Exactly.

Enjoy it for what it was, which was both kickass and true to the atmosphere. Sure, you guys fudged up the Allspark, but otherwise... excellent.

I saw the movie, and IMO it was excellent. Definatly one of the better movies I've seen. It was funny, and the action was great, although I wish there was just a little bit more fighting. Oh well, I smell sequel.

The Movie was definately better than the show lol. I enjoyed it and I thought they did a good job making the transformation between machine and human form. They still showed all the parts of the car.

My friends and I were hooked on Transformers as kids, and we watched the 80s cartoon to no end - and we probably drove the VCR to the breaking point with the number of rapid rewinds and plays we did to see Unicron's head flying away over and over and over, screaming "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" every time. :P

After my interests in Transformers was slowed by the more recent shows, which just didn't appeal to me as much as the originals and Beast Wars, I suddenly came across a movie poster in a random theater-built-into-a-shopping-center that had the Optimus Prime eye and said "THEIR WAR. OUR WORLD. TRANSFORMERS 2007" on it. I instantly begain anticipating this movie, buying a movie poster with backing not only for this one, but also an old one from the 80s movie (that was a cool yet random find) and they've been in my room since last fall.

Little obsession stories aside, I was looking on the 2nd to see if there were any early shows near my grandparent' house in Ohio. When I found that my dad and I could make the 9:30 show, I felt like the world's kiddiest 15-year-old, literally never sitting still, that internal 5-year-old "WHEEE" Unicron fan coming out again. And when I saw it, it was nothing short of awesome. I just wished Megatron got more screen-time. But still, I went for giant robots, guns, big bangs, and Optimus Prime - and that's what I got. ;)

And luckily, Sam's "happy time" meant nothing to my 8 year old brother when he saw it. :P

I saw transformers twice during it's opening week. How much I enjoyed the movie surprised me because I've never really been a transformers fan. I felt that I would have liked to have seen less people and more of the transformers in the movie but that complaint is fairly minor. Honestly, it's the best of the summer blockbusters out there so far this year.

Spoiler (click to toggle)
My favorite line of the movie was when Jazz leaped at Megatron saying "Want a piece of me?" and Megatron responded with "No, I want two." as he tore him in half.

Hurrah! I saw it as well, and yes, I loved it. It was probably one of the best action/sci-fi movies I've seen in a long, long time. Right up there with the Alien and Predator serieses. Good humor, good action, and good actiing.

My only complaint is, because these things were so large, the camera man should have backed away from the robots as they fought just a tiny bit. Not so much for his own saftey as he or she, had an invisible force field incase they got too close, but so we could see more of the fighting without being shoved all the machinery and cgi up close, down the eye socet and allow it all to sink in as they fought making it easier to watch.

Nah, Blazen, I liked the close-up fighting - especially when Optimus Prime grabbed Megatron in the air and they flew through a building. Oh, and seeing Optimus Prime's awesome beam sword cut the head off Bonecrusher was very cool.

I like the kid i the car that shouted "Whoa, look mom!" or something like that.

And Necro, I think 8 is a bit young for such... "enlightenment," let's say.

Haha, this has got to be one of the best movies I've seen all year. Hands down. I wasn't really around in the 80's, so I couldn't really judge... But I do vaguely remember loving Beastwars and the original movie.

As most other people in this thread have said the CGI was amazing, I absolutely loved how creative they got with the transformations... Seeing as how it just wasn't a lot of twisting and turning and -boom- the car's an "NBE," it was actually believable. I was also very entertained with the fact that Jazz moved just like free runner! XD

Now; for the things I didn't like, which is a short list and is fairly nit-picky. I didn't really like how short some of these battles were: Example: Bonecrusher vs Prime. I realize that sword fights are generally short in reality, but couldn't there have been a bit more rock-em-sock-em action first before Prime took his head off? I also didn't really like Megatron's demise, I can understand why he was destroyed the way he was... But for such an evil robot it didn't seem to do him justice. And I also didn't like how many little mistakes were in this, or at least the ones I caught really bothered me: Bumblebee's windows going from Tinted to Untinted most of the movie, and that scene where Sam kept magically putting on and taking off his brown hoody.

Anyway, this was still an awesome movie: 9.3/10.

I honestly doubt they're done with Megatron. If they do a sequel, which I bet they will, they can really only choose one other villain: Unicron.

How does Megatron fit in? Unicron, if you'll remember, gave Megatron a new robo-body and renamed him Galvatron.

Yeah, I smelled sequel. Somehow, burying a nigh-invincible alien robot under the sea isn't a good idea. Though they could be destroyed, the country underestimated them several times before...

And Unicron would be awesome. Especially if his head blew off. I swear I'd yell "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" in the theater.

I just wish people would make up their minds.

It's either "geez it's based off an 80's cartoon get over it it should have been crap" or "I was expecting more from this movie"..sometimes from the same person..

It's bizarre.

This is directly from wikipedia's Transformers film page:
On May 30, 2007, DreamWorks greenlit two sequels to Transformers.[112] Shia LaBeouf,[113] Megan Fox[114] and Peter Cullen[44] are signed on to return. Producer Tom DeSanto has envisioned a storyline introducing the Dinobots, Constructicons, and Soundwave.[19] Writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman may not return, as "the next Star Trek is taking up [most] of our time."[30] Michael Bay has not signed on, "trying to keep some leverage for the negotiations,"[44] but already has ideas, including an aircraft carrier character.[115] The producers expect that with a bigger budget and the special effects worked out, the Transformers will have a larger role.[116]
The last line makes me happy. I'm betting that they will have a beast wars one though, they can't have dinobots without other beast wars characters.
