And, the world must be ending, for it has passed the Acid 2 Browser rendering test, something Firefox didn't do.

I'll believe it when I see it. And remember kids, if you say Bill Gates, it's not polite to yell Sieg Heil in front of your actual ruler until after it is discovered he is indeed the local gestapo.

Proof enough that it has when it was the own Acid2 site that said it passed.

Agreed! From the looks of it, it's a major improvement for the I.E world, as Firefox 3 was sent back to the drawing boards.

You know, I've thought that about many programs and websites, but then three years later when I looked them up, I either couldn't find them (in some cases) or they had been taken down (in others).

Also, when you get a new computer, and install this program, won't it generate a different hash then the one you've currently got is generating? I would think there's something the program stores in your computer to know whatr code it generated last time for X website.

Nope. It has nothing to do with your computer. The hash's algorithm is based on the website address and your base password. Incidentally, they also have a remote program that you can use from computers that don't have the addon installed.

Ok we have options for FireFox such as Javascript, Flash, and such. BUT we're missing one thing, now I know it isn't THAT important but I'd really like FireFox to be able to use Active X without using the IE tab. It'd be really nice if you think about it. You'd be able to use things on Fire Fox that you normally couldn't. I know there aren't many of those instances AROUND but still, it'd help a little don't you think? I hope some producer for mozilla creates a plugin that allows FireFox to use Active X as an add on instead of having to use IE Tab.

Meh, fewer and fewer sites require Active X anymore, and being a linux user, I don't even have the option for an Active X compliant browser (I cba with ies4linux :P ) and I am really not missing it tbh. If there was a time it would have been advantageous, that time has long since passed.

As much as I can understand why you'd want ActiveX to run everywere, I think the better solution is to ultimately make the web pages themselves not reliant on that technology. It's not compatible at all between browsers or operating system, which kind of misses the point of the Internet as a whole.

I really like my Safari. ^^ I dunno why. And Firefox takes too long to load when opening, tho I like it too. It works just like Safari for me.

But, I HATE Internet Explorer. Ugh. It drives me insane. Though I have a late version since Macs can't get a new one. But still, it drives me bonkers while making layouts.

I just use both. I use IE the most, but when something doesn't work on there, I try it with Firefox. If that doesn't work either, I know I have to update something somewhere.

Opera, red ones go faster

I use Firefox mainly though actually since I'm too lazy to upload Opera and Firefox does it by itself

You know, even though Fire Fox 3 beta 5 is awesome, it STILL isn't....perfect I guess I could say...err...I don't know how to put it really. It is kinda buggy but it IS faster than Fire Fox 2. Have any of you used this one before? If so, what do you think about it and comparing it to other browsers, which would you rather use?

RD, do you have FF set as your default browser? And why not just log onto hotmail through the webpage?

I don't think FireFox is necessarily better then IE anymore. IE is 10x faster to load pages.

I have FireFox set as my default, yes, though that doesn't do crap when it comes to messenger. And I use messenger as its on all day and thus able to get to my mail instantly.

For the record, I still use FireFox as my browser, despite having the latest version of IE, and it still runs faster than IE. So if you ask me, I don't think speed is the browser's fault.

Except perhaps with Opera. Dunno, I've been on different computers with different connections, generally IE is the worst. Although I've yet to see it best Opera in terms of speed.

Firefox 3 still fails the Acid 3 test but it fairs much better than the likes of

Firefox 2
Internet Explorer 7
SeaMonkey
and
Opera
Netscape (Netscape repeatedly closed itself halfway through the test so I have no screenshot :P )

Which is bizarre, as IE7 easily passed it, think IE8 did too. Netscape closed it's support, and no more updates for it, it's considered a dead browser now.

Also, RD. I recommend getting FasterFox, it's a mod for Firefox that precaches the pages ahead of time to make them load faster in the future. It's a grand thing to have.

As I have said before, FireFox has yet to let me down and thus, I do not need any upgrades to it.

If I used the same mentality, I'd still be using IE5.5 :P

I'll upgrade my browser when it becomes necessary, i.e. when its performance becomes crap. That's the reason as to why I switched from IE to FireFox in the first place. In the several years I've been using FireFox, the performance has yet to diminish and remains optimal, and thus I don't need to change anything.
