I am very happy with the results of this election. :]
The USA needed a change.
I was watching the election map online, when I found out Ohio chose Democratic, I knew Obama would win. I also thought this race would be close, but shockingly it was 349 to 163!

I went to school today and there were many political arguements. I've heard many people say (and seen many things on the internet) against Obama for his race. It sickens me how ignorant some people truly are.

I think he will make a fine president and I hope some people see in time that ignorance should have no place in the world.

Same, McCain went through all the shit he has for his country and we repay him by electing a guy who's patriotism and motives are questionable at best?

I agree with Kagome though in a way; ignorance should have no place in the world. Here's how you do it.

1 Have Obama issue an executive order for everyone to march into the sea forever.

2. Those of us smart enough to ignore this can divide up the stuff and restart America without people like Dennis Kucinich.

As a side note, why make fun of Cheney's endorsement of McCain when Kucinich endorsed Obama. Seriously, Kucinich claims he was abducted by aliens and he has more credibility than the Vice President, I don't think so.

I'd go on a tirade, but I have Chemistry homework.

So are you saying you're happy the new prez will relate to you since he's "half black" or are you saying you're a dem/lefty because of half of you or....what?

PS this wasn't change at all. Nothing revolutionary. Oh wow a different race is in the white house. He's just a man. Big deal. It's so strange, the big deal people make of it...it's not supposed to be one. It's like if a midget won the election. "Yay finally america elected a little person!" You're alienating them, singling out an aspect of their fucking genes, and it's really weird. So please stop it america.

I want revolution. I want an Independent presidential nominee to get somewhere in the polls. THEN that will be revolutionary.

Yeah, I certainly see no real change coming from this. So it amuses (and saddens) me when I see some people crying about the end of the world, and some people just about ready to go dancing in the streets.

So... since very little is changing, I don't have much opinion one way or the other. I'm conservative in nature, so I prolly won't like some of his policies, but I wasn't happy with McCain's policies (not that he talked about them... ever) either. So... whatever.

Now, some good change would be to maybe... I dunno... get away from this two-party nonsense. Maybe then we can actually think about what people wanna do, not which side they're on, or which side should get more power since the other messed up royally.

You speak the truth. People are very tied up with their party and ignore the others. Last time I looked, the US has about 15 or more other active parties.

But I think why people don't want to look or vote for a 3rd party is because they feel they "wasted" their vote on a hopeless underdog. Most people want to feel good that they won. The only way to do so is to pick a popular party (even if you probably don't fully agree with it) and vote for whoever is nominated.

This kinda leads to how I voted. 3rd Party candidate, thanks. ^^

More power to you. :) From my Great White North point of view, the US Political party is kinda boring: it's always one or the other party coming in, and it's been like that for almost 200 years. Here, in the last federal election (which concluded 3 weeks ago only), four parties managed to get some of their candidates elected, and a fifth one almost broke through for the first time. As a result, we get more variety, and more diverse opinions can be heard.

I hear you, Doc. Over here things are quite a bit different from over in the US of A, since we are president-less and several parties in Parliament need to agree on something to get it to happen. The upside to it is that it isn't just one side of the coin in power and moronic legislations hardly come through. The downside to it is that if there isn't any unity in opinion, nothing gets through.

Oh well, democracy as it is is flawed anyway.

On a light-hearted sidenote, however:

Stop.

So what makes Obama's patriotism questionable? Not to belittle you, but I'd hazard a guess that it's that good old-fashioned bullshit litmus test where every Democrat has to prove their faith and patriotism but it's assumed for the Republicans. Really. McCain could have said he wanted to nuke the goddamn capital and he'd still been seen as more patriotic than Obama. As for motives, I'd question McCain's a thousand times sooner than I would Obama's. But then again, I never believed that Obama was a secret muzlim or that he "palled around with terrorists" or anything of the idiocy that came out of Palin's mouth.

And what makes the shit McCain went through relevant? I do appreciate what he endured in his service to the country. I respect his service immensely. That said, it has jack-shit to do with his qualifications for running the country.

I agree with Hollow (OMG!). My friend Stephanie, who is black, posted a topic about "yay America finally got a black president". However, Stephanie is no more racist then the recognized members of this board (meaning non-spammers non-n00bs etc.). I posted a comment on her blog saying that is actually racist. Why? She didn't say ANYTHING about Obama other then that fact that he is black. She did agree with his views, yet, they were not mentioned in her blog. She said this is basically "a step forward for America," or something along those lines, due to the fact that he is black. But, it's not, because if we had only white males presidents over 55 for the entirety of America's (oops I mean UNITED STATES INC.'s) existence... that doesn't nesecerily mean we are excluding other groups. They may have just been better in voter's opinions (of policies). It is not as though it is the 60s and it really WOULD have been a step forward. The majority of America has not been racists enough to reject a president based on race since the 80s. It is at a point where the race is not even worth mention.

There is definitely no change with Obama as president. He can speak strongly, that's fur sure, but has anyone ever noticed he never actually says anything? Doesn't outline policies or plans at all. Same as it's been for years, and which president we elect, if the choices are "dem main vs. republican main", will never change a thing.

As for McCain, almost anyone is better then him... he authored, wrote, and garnered votes for a bill to destroy a longstanding native American settlement full of Native Americans who have no idea how to survive in what Americans refer to as "regular society," his stated views on issues change every 5 minutes, in the debates I saw everyone else was looking at him with the "Are you really that stupid?" expression on their faces for the most part, and his voting record doesn't match his stated viewpoints at the time of the votes. The first thing, though, is what most people don't know.

Then there was the whole Paline thing. Choosen to be eye candy but she wasn't even sexy. Kinda stupid if you ask me. And yeah the whole "war vet" thing - just another idea that's really ridiculous.

All that stuff wasn't entirely McCain's fault though. Sadly, the republicans are...going batshit insane lately in a desperate plea to win elections or god knows, and their policies and ways of getting votes are getting worse and worse.

It's pretty scary really, I just hope they learned their lesson with this. But I doubt it.

ring man77, I had to read your post 4 times before I realized what you actually said. I thought you were talking about Mony Mony the Billy Idol song and calling him an 11 year old.
I was confused.
Anyways, first of all, we need to put money back into the economy to stop recession. People are saving and not buying, just like they did in the 20s when they noticed things were getting back because everyone wanted to sell, and not buy. This hurts the economy and we need to be giving it back in.

I think another problem with the whole world is overpopulation. Seriously people, stop.

Um, in theory, but just printing paper notes doesn't increase the money, it just makes the value of each part of the whole go down so that every time another thousand $1s are printed, the $1 you have in your hand is worth less. It is this way because we have to trade with the other countries, not to mention EVERYTHING comes from "other countries" now, so the value of our print is only compared to the property and production we have in America, against the rest of the world, regardless of how many pieces of paper exist.

Not to mention that if you print billions of dollars and give it to BUSINESSES instead of people, that's obviously just going to make your own money worth less since it's the businesses getting "richer" and not you or any other human.

I'd say it's obvious I hate Obama pretty clearly. Now he's just being completely incompetent. The more notes in an economic system, the higher the inflation, the higher the interest rates, the more pairs of tighty-whiteys lost when families pay their bills. Stimulus packages are an oxymoron, all they do is lower the worth of the money we already have.

Now i'm getting screwed over watching the small wages I earn part-time get taxed and become worth even less. His tax plan is stupid and makes no sense. He should just cut the taxes back on everyone and not just appeal to one part of the brackets. Then people have more spending money, and the economy starts moving again. You can install your regulation in things like AIG and Fannie Mae, but you don't need to take out huge loans that i'll be paying off and so will my kids one day.

His foreign policy is worthless too. He's proven that he doesn't know how to handle himself in those situations. (Bowing to a foreign leader, giving the QUEEN of England a fricking iPod Touch as a gift, she already had one by the way, etc.) His only real strategy seems to be to appease the world and assume guilt for everything that's wrong with the world while alienating our allies and allowing our enemies to get as close as they want. Conforming isn't something world leaders can do, but that's what the president seems to think he can get away with.

That's why the idea is that you don't print more money, you just spend it more and earn it more, thus the money starts to roll.

Personally, I don't see where the Obama hate is coming from. All of the world leaders are having trouble aiding the economy and preventing it from tumbling down into the abyss, and the man hasn't even had a hundred days to make everything better. For one man such a job must be pretty tough.

Then again, if the world had been enveloped in Marxist socialism rather than capitalism, this whole thing might not have happened.

Obama still needs time to get things taken care of, patience is a virtue.

Several things that I noticed, on what is hurting the economy. One, I am looking at major businesses. There are multi-millions and billions of dollars, that they simply don't know what to do with. But thier greed gets to the better of them. Not to mention millions of dollars go over seas, and there is nothing we can do about it.

Two, the government. What Obama needs to do, is keep tabs and closer looks at what they are doing. Let me explain, the president has agendas, many things to do. While he is doing those, the other people who run help run the country, will find new ways to lie to us.

Millions of dollars keep Area 51 a secret.

Who knows how much money is keeping the Mexican Border up, cause honestly, I can see that border becoming the next Berlin Wall. It might even help the U.S. and Mexico.

What I like about Obamas approach, is that he is paying attention to what the general public needs. He is trying to help the general public. That, in my book, already has merit.

Obama is the first black president, good. Heck, I'll welcome a female president in the future. In general though, being a white guy myself, having a black president will do America some good.

One, he's only half-black, and once he acknowledges the white side of his existence, I'll be impressed.

Two, race and gender shouldn't be an issue at all when it comes to our president. It has no bearing on the presidency, so no one, especially Obama, should be making a big deal about it.

Honestly, you can say that he's paying attention to what the general public means, but that means nothing if he doesn't do something about it. And he needs to start doing something, not make another worthless speech.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot about that. Well, the Mexican Border, needs to be taken down. As for the people who have jobs patrolling the place, can land jobs as Policeman or even Security jobs. Do you see criminals run for the Canadian Border, take a chance with the Mounties. Heck, I would. :P

I'm gonna give Obama prove himself, before I pass any harsh judgement on him.
