As the website approaches it's ninth anniversary, I'm happy to announce something that hasn't been seen for a few years: a full-scale oekaki drawing contest!

Unlike the mini-contest formula that has been used a few times already, this is a much larger event, with nothing held back: judging, larger drawing area, prizes for the top three winners, and more!

A theme has been selected for this latest contest: crossover. This can be taken in any way you can think of, including but not limited to: mixing two Mega Man series together, bringing elements from another game or anime series, taking characters out of context, etc. Obviously, your entry must feature a Mega Man element to be accepted

Prizes are available for the top three winners, based on merit: you'll have to put some efforts to think of something original and draw it as well as you can! The prizes includes the Mega Man Zero Official Complete Works art book, Mega Man PC games, Mega Man Battle Network merchandise, and more. The full list can be checked on this page.

The full details and rules are available from the contest section. As this contest formula is quite different from the mini-contest one, I highly suggest that you read carefully what's in there. The contest will run for an entire month, ending on May 31 at midnight (Eastern Time).

You're creative enough, I'm not afraid about what you could manage to put together. Finding time to dedicate to this might be more difficult, of course.

So I entered the contest - does this mean that Hollow, Necro, Kia, MegamanZero66, Mr. Mettaur and the rest of the IOekaki gang are going to dip me in super hot oil and set me on fire after I win?

I don't think that's a good idea: the contest might attract new talents to the board, too! If we force the contestants to have been around for any given period of time, those people wouldn't bother to join in the first place.

Hur-hur-hur! So it seems that I have won! I'm suprised - I thought I was gonna end up 6th as usual, but it looks like almost no people competed except for me, MMZ66 and a few others (who all, by the way, did really well).

It goes along with the current activity level on the oekaki board: it's pace is slower now than in 2005, so it was to be expected that we'd get fewer entries. I was hoping that some people would wake up somehow, but it didn't really happen.

Also, the 2005 contest announcement was carried over on at least a few other Mega Man sites, so it brought some new artists to the board. It wasn't the case this year, and that must have had an effect.

Someone else wanted to enter the contest but told me that she couldn't figure out what to draw because it seemed that everyone else had drawn the ideas she came up with.

So I'm afraid that people might be discouraged in this manner.

Can we have like a Azumanga Daioh mini art contest?! I know it's not Mega Man, but maybe if we started expanding Interordi's content to a somewhat broader range of anime and gaming, we'll most-definitely attract new talents! And this way, if they're not too familiar with Mega Man, they'll bound to learn about it quickly since they will most-likely want to socialize with other people with similar interests - and where else will newcomers do that other than the message board or chat room?!

Expanding the site is something that I've been meaning to get to, but I've got some other priorities right now. One of the primary things should be to get ION Gamma's final version out. It's almost ready, it covers gaming way beyond Mega Man, and I think it's a good match for what's already available.

This isn't the first time that you mention Azumanga Daioh, so I'm guessing that you're a pretty big fan of it. I don't know if it's that well-known, though, as I don't remember hearing about it from somewhere else... I'm not exactly a good reference on that anyway, so maybe it's bigger than I think. In any case, it might be fun for an off-topic contest.

Oh my, Doc! Azumanga Daioh has been popular for quite some time now, actually. It's probably voted as one of the funniest comedy anime series out there! Just go to YouTube and type in Azumanga Daioh ep 1 on the search bar or something! You'll love the show!
