So, anyone here seen the extended version of Advent Children? I gotta say, watching it on Blu-ray in a home theatre type-system really made it all the more better. Aside from that, the extra footage added some additional depth to the movie, including the origins of Denzel, (which is also in the form of a special feature 20 min anime movie), updated voice work for Marlene (whoopi...) and some more detailed scenes revolving around some of the characters.
Some of the better scenes added I think would have to be the extended Sephiroth fight. Watching Cloud getting poked over and over by Sephiroth's sword while in midair was quite cool and devastating at the same time. Cloud even attempts to pull an Omnislash on Seph, but having learned from the last time they fought, Seph counters it on the finishing blow.
One of the extra scenes that made me laugh, was of course with Reno and Rude in the helicopter during the motorcycle chase near the end. After assuming Rude was knocked off the helicopter and after Reno breaks off the joystick controlling it, Reno is about to jump out of the spinning helicopter, only to discover Rude is still hanging on to one of the wings.
Reno: "Rude! You're alright!"
Rude: "Yeah, I'm just peachy."
Right before spinning right into a tower.
The dumbest additional scene, I think, was the one where Cloud is "interrupted" with a vision of Zach during the fight with Sephiroth, right before he closes in on Cloud for what looks like the last straw. After approximately 3 minutes of redundant, self-explanatory, "reassuring" gibber jabber which could have been shortened down to a quick montage of flashbacks that last 0.5 seconds each, finally we get back to the fight. This scene really kills the build up during the fight after Sephiroth gains the upper hand.
So, what do any of you think?
