So okay, a pal on Deviantart links me to Capcom-Unity. They're having a Megaman contest, he says. Draw a robot master that they pick. Prize is two artbooks.

I have recently started to collect artbooks, and ironically the only two videogame related ones I have are CAPCOM. Phoenix Wright and Breath of Fire. So I was like aw hell yeah I'm gonna be up in this.

But I had guests over, and couldn't enter the first contest for Commando Man. No big deal, 7 more chances right? Guests were still over by the time Sheep Man's contest was on, but left towards the very end. So as the deadline neared, I just up and drew a picture in a matter of hours, start to finish.

I entered in time, and awaited voting results. During this time, Megaman X Prime contacted his friends. I contacted mine. I went on IRC channels. I emailed family members. I went to old messageboards I hadn't been to in a year or more. Posted on DA, etc etc. Trying to get everyone and their mother to vote (PS. No, not everyone I contacted voted for me either. I even had a dude vote for someone else cause my "lines weren't straight enough" or something, lol)

Then...someone noticed a guy was cheating. He was threatening his fanbase to vote for him, or else he stops making his stupid Youtube show.

A mod said that he had to take his vids down, but would not be penalized any other way. I thought this was absolutely ridiculous. I was quite pissed.

I end up winning the contest. This would not be a problem if the people who didn't get in the top 10, weren't fucking whiners.

They were actually fairly hurtful and implied my art wasn't good enough to win, that it was a "popularity contest". (um, all art contests are this way that are chosen by society and not appointed judges. How else do you get votes on the internet, especially)

(..well okay judges aren't even exempt from bias, no human being is)

I thought my idea was rather creative, but whatever. I freely admit that alot of good art didn't make it to the top 10, but I won't name names.

...okay I'll name one. It was disgraceful that P-RO's was only TENTH. (the one I voted for) What the hell was THAT.

So, after the mass whining, the mods at Capcom went out of their way to appease. They picked three artworks that they liked and will be giving them a "special prize".

Thanks Capcom, and especially all the whining fucks, for making me feel like shit just because I have a ton of friends.

Wow, that is pretty much bullshit. I know I've had my annoying fanboy moments, but hell, I wouldn't go THIS far.

By the way, Sheep Man in Okami clothing wins forever. And P-RO's pic is damn good, I agree it should've been higher.

I liked Zebes' pic, Shinygirafarig's plushy, and the Sheepman cut-out by Drew as well.

I hope you don't feel too bad about winning because of those whiners. I think your pic has a lot going on for it. I like how you have three different types of wolves from various Mega Man games, as oppose to just having one type drawn three times. It also has another Capcom franchise reference, a dash of humor, and is more than just a simple Sheep Man drawing, where Sheep Man isn't the only focus of attention.

Hollow, remember: they shouldn't hate you just because you are beautiful. Or in this case, make things that are.

The pic was quite a clever take that deserves applause. I myself liked Zebes' and P-RO's art in there as well, shame they weren't higher. I can't believe the papercrafts were in 2nd and 3rd place, honestly. They looked fun, but they weren't that awesome. The plushie was just awkward.

And I am not even going to dirty words with talking about number nine. >_>


EDIT: Holy shit, I just saw the percentages... 26% for you and only 7% for number two? You'd have to put together the percentages of five other entrants to beat you there. "Popularity contest" my ass, obviously most people besides just your friends love your art.

How did that 9th place art even get up in the top 10? That looks really mediocre compared to the rest of the art- moreso since number 10 is -amazing-.

First off, congrats to HT for his SheepMan entry. I got a descent laugh out of it as well.

Plus, I would like to mention. Because of HTs winning status, a Capcom employee might actually come to these forums. To see what kind of environment HT dwells upon. :hehe:

They'd be disappointed if they came looking for Hollow being active and stuff. Hollow's a wereposter, after all.
