...okay, other thread got wonky somehow. Anyway, there's gonna be a new Mega Man ongoing comic from Archie! Patrick Spaziante is on-tap to do art. (He drew for the Dreamwave comic.) This might be the first legit comic book series I actually want to check out.

Well, if I'm gonna collect this, I'd rather wait for graphic novel collections. Makes it easier overall.

Even more Mega Man goodness. Where has all this awesome stuff been hiding for the last decade?

I'm familiar with both the artist and writer, it's a good team. Spaz has got the classic art style nailed.

Going to go ahead and pray this lasts for awhile. Loved the sonic comic when I was a kid but what I wanted more than anything was Mega Man.

Why Archie?

Why not Dark Horse?

Why not DC Vertigo?

Obviously, they're targeting kids, rather than the longtime fans. Are today's kids REALLY getting into Mega Man? When did that happen...

Regardless, the art *is* looking good. Almost more accurate than Ariga's works... Now I have an excuse to go to the comic shop on a regular basis. I hope the story is either a continuing narrative or at least somewhat related one-shots, and not some weird fluff just for the sake of having a comic.

I never see Archie comics at my local comic book store. This won't be easy to get...

A Megaman that isn't kid friendly wouldn't be Megaman at all.

It's available for preorder now. As apprehensive as I am about this one, I put in my order already. The art looks good compared to what I've seen from Archie, so it might actually be a good comic to follow. If they're doing at least the twelve issues that the subscription pays for, then it should be worth reading.

I have not had a printed subscription to anything since I let my Nintendo Power subscription lapse in the late 90s. I have subscribed to this. Here's hoping this is the comic adaptation I dreamed of as a child that will still appeal to my tastes as an adult.

Now they say you get a free autographed poster for subscribing. I'm hoping that those of us who preordered early get that little bonus as well...

They should, but I wonder if they aren't going to. I already got my poster, so if they were going some to send the earlier subscribers, I would think they would have done it by now. Maybe cancel the order and order it again?

Seriously. Zero was the darkest series, right?

Man, I can think of so many media examples that were way darker, edgier, more cynical and mature than that series. At its core, Mega Man has always been relatively kid-friendly.

I'm ordering these from my local comic shop. I was going to subscribe directly, but I don't want to have stickers stuck to my copies with my name and address on them. It bothered me they did it with my Nintendo Power magazines. Trying to take them off might rip/damage the comic.

Kind of anxious for these, to be honest. I didn't really care that much at first that this was becoming a comic book series but I enjoyed the mangas, which I also initially never planned on getting.

If they become a hit, it could be a whole new thing for Mega Man, and might even generate some more awareness for the franchise.

I thought they said they deliver in envelopes with cardboard backing. I know my poster came pretty well protected.

Maybe, but I do remember when I had a subscription to Nintendo Power they just sent the issues to me unprotected with my shipping info stuck (nearly glued) to the magazine on a sticker.

Maybe Archie handles things differently, but I'd like to stay on the safe side of things.



I actually collected quite a few of the Sonic comics back when I was younger. They were actually quite good. They combined elements and themes from both the games as well as the SatAM cartoon, which were already terrific iterations of Sonic by themselves. I loved seeing Knuckles among the Freedom Fighters group.

I wonder if the Mega Man comic series will demonstrate any sort of deviations as the series progresses. Might be interesting to see what else the series is capable of besides just being a simple comic form of the original story.

I think that the current incarnation of Nintendo Power prints directly on the cover. If I'm not mistaken, most magazines do that today.

Comics usually don't have a mailing label location. I can't see why they'd do anything but send them in some kind of stiff mailer. When the first issue hits, I'll be sure to post a picture of the package.

I remember those days with Nintendo Power. Had a few slightly wet issues because of it. But what I remember that really irked me was when they started gluing that "renew your subscription!" stuff to the cover that was a huge pain to remove. I'm sure the last issue I had probably still has something like that glued to it. I remember one of them was this really ugly clown thing, must have been when they were trying to be "edgy" like every other video game rag.

Anyway, I thought what Archie shipped the promo poster in was pretty good. I'd be happy if all the issues arrived that way.

Horrible voice acting. Not like it matters though.

The art is really standing out though. Granted, the comic won't be animated either, which is absolutely fine.

Uh oh, this is disappointing. Guess I was wrong. No board, just a plastic bag. At any rate, did anyone get the alternate cover?

I read it, and it's actually darn good. Lots of little details that the older fans will notice. It seems like the first story arc (issue 1-4) will go through the original game. Does that mean that the first year could theoretically cover MM1-3? I find it more likely that we'll get some filler issues, or that the rest of the year is MM2, or original content. So far, though, I'm happy with it.
