Who says it would end? It could be a continual game for weeks until I someone won!
Game duration would be long, of course, but does it really matter? It's turn-based, not everyone needs to be online at the same time. Such a thing can be played over time, and I'd definitely be up for it.
Of course, how to represent units is a challenge (that map is kinda small to stack units as blocks), as well as fairness of dice rolls. Still, it's doable.

RISK! Hmmm, my only concern is how do we do the cards? Would it be easier to randomly shuffle out the countries already? Or the first round each player chooses a country until all the countries are taken?
Also some visual aspect of the map could be fixed to make it more easier to distinguish borders and oversea crossings, though that is probably the least important issue. I would totally join in if someone can make this work!

I think I remember seeing random number generators out there using redstone with dispensers, so that might be a good way to control an unbiased dice count as long as someone was watching what went into the dispensers/was "rolling" on behalf of the players.
The issue of units being packed into tiny spaces could MAYBE be solved with signs, but that might mean a lot of /cremoving and a bunch of running around the board to see the fronts, and you'd have to account for typos. I'm sure there's something we can figure out!
The borders would definitely need to be more noticeable too, though maybe that could be done by raising them with slabs, or even carpet.
Using woold, you can have 6 playes. Units could be represented by light/dark color for 1s and 10s.

Researching random numbers. I found this one...
And had Aaranvor recreate it (yes, he did it all with just a couple of nudges). It doesn't work. This was designed for 1.5, I think it might have broken for 1.7.
Will keep researching.
