It was designed to do that if necessary. It's too early to tell right now exacly what will happen, of course. If I get the impression that we'll be able to upgrade to 1.9 quickly (say, 2-3 weeks), I'll wait. On the other hand, if something crazy like the 1.8 upgrade cycle happens, I'll split off Raw (Rodinia) to stand alone until the rest of the servers are ready to follow suit!
