Allright. This here is my friend\'s truth about Squaresoft games. Just to when you THINK that square is doing great business and such, think AGAIN! By reading this, you\'ll understand why Square isn\'t really doing good business. Read here:
\"OK, here is the whole deal regarding Squaresoft:
For one, the company is a really good one. They have many games that have the
potential to make tons of money. However, they seem to have forgotten about
their lesser game series, such as SOM, SOE, and CT. The FF series has been
driven to the ground by Squaresoft\'s greed for cash. Normally I approve of such
actions -- hey, we\'re all in it for the money. Unfortunately, they took the
best series they had and thouroughly screwed it. Do I even have to mention
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within?? Almost every FF games after FF3/FF6 either
had horrible plotlines (FF7, FF8, FF10) or really cheesy character abilites or
concepts (like \"stealing\" magic from enemies in FF8, or the Knights of the Round
Table summons in FF7). Don\'t get me wrong, I played every single FF game that
has been released after FF3/FF6. Graphically these games rule, but as we all
know, graphics DON\'T MAKE THE GAME, GAMEPLAY MAKES THE GAME. In the case of
RPGs, complex plotlines are a must; making the game non-linear at some point is
a must-have, as well. Basically, the two BEST RPGs ever, which all other RPGs
must be compared to, are Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger. Both these games
have complex plotlines, especially CT. FF3 has several well-developed
characters, all of which aren\'t really the star of the show -- they ALL are the
stars. CT has incredible replay value; there are over 12 different endings in
this game! Face it, FF3 and Chrono Trigger are the gods of RPGs, followed by
SOM and SOE. Yes, they are old games, but they have something that very few
RPGs (for consoles, that is -- PC RPGs are almost always much more complex,
deep, and enthralling) today can match up with.
I\'ve really lost my faith in Squaresoft, despite the fact that now they intend
to produce exclusive games for the GCN and GBA and plan on going multi-console
with FFXI. It\'s clear where I\'ll have to go to satisfy my RPG needs: my SNES
and my PC.
That\'s my take on Squaresoft.\"
This is his whole truth based about Square.
Now before you guys hurt me on this, I have some thoughts on the whole thing reguarding to Squaresoft. First of all, they were doing good business with Nintendo. Final Fantasy, the first one for the NES, became a popular on in the 90\'s. Then came other games for the NES and the Super Nintendo. The most poplular among the other Super Nes games{ stated in his truth about Square} was Final Fantasy 3 and Chrono Trigger.
When the series were taken to 3-Dimensional, that\'s when he realized that Square when down in the dumpster. Take Final Fantasy 7, for example. What I thought of that game was that it has incredible gameplay and movie scenes in the game. What my friend thought of it was that the game...WAS A TOTAL JOKE!
Final Fantasy 8, however, wasn\'t even a good one. My friend also told me that his friend beaten the game, but soon he realized that the ENTIRE game has like...no STORYLINE! The plotlines in Final Fantasy 8 made NOOO sense! I was suprized by this.
Now if you have anything to say about this, dish it out and then we can discuss further on this.
Favorable quote from TCL:
"You need people like me so that you can point your finger and say, 'That's the bad guy.' So what does that make you, good? You not good, you just know how to hide, how to lie. Me? I don't have that problem. Me? I always tell the truth - even when I lie. So say goodnight to the bad guy. It's the last time you're gonna see a bad guy like this."
