Over the past months, as more new members join, I can\'t help but to relize that a tread has been picked up among them. They all make \"What\'s your favorite sport\" or \"What\'s your favorite movie\" and especially in the MMBN forum, \"What\'s your favorite navi\".

These topics are spilled with spam, one word replies and often triple posting. Created and posted in shearly to raise a new member\'s post count.

However, this is not the major reason why they drive me crazy. It\'s the fact that there are often 3 of the same topic each filled with spam. Making them each, worth that much less in my eyes.

In the past, these topics have only been locked if the MODs or Doc found a flame war amonst them, or by user request. But I believe that all \"Favorite\" topics should take the same road as the forum games and all be locked and deleted.

Perhaps, these kind of topics only bother me and am serverly overreacting, but if I am not allone, please be heard here.

I apologize for my absence, however, it will be a bit longer. Those who wish to contact me, I have updated my email and AIM info. Thanks.

Yeah. I agree with the one word replies with the Favorites topics getting out of hand, IE:

Topic: who\'s your favoite navi?

First post: BASSSS OWWNNZZZZ!!11!1!

Second post: Protmann rullzzzz:D:P:muha::eek:

Third Post: Protmann rullzzzz:D:P:muha::eek:

It\'s getting to the point now that those Topics are that of Forums Games. I mean, alot of the favorite topics namely the favorite Navi ones just go in circles. If we\'ve had a topic like it, why allow another to be made? Not to mention, they bump so many of the actual real conversation topics away.

There is one thing I\'d also like to point out. We have ONB Official Help topics...why are people still making Help topics of their own?

The purpose of the Official Help topics was to keep all of the individual help topics in one big topic to avoid multiple help topics from building up in the forums and pushing all of the good topics away.

Geez...I even put the links in my Signature...

But then, did you really believe that everyone would use those topics, and no longer create help topics? Most newbies don\'t even bother reading the rules, so...

*sigh* Yes, it\'s hard to control. It especially happens around a games\' release. Since we saw two new MMBN games within a week, that was a reciepe for disaster. It will die down eventually, but we still have a few weeks to spam-rush to get through...

So, what we want to do is make the Official Help topics more visible to others, especially newbies. Do you think that you could make an announcement in the Rules and Guildlines Forum, Doc?

Say something like...no more help topics, instead post in the Official ones provided by the ONB. Something like that?

By the way...can you edit the descriptions of topics? I think I made them to big for the Help topics.

With the \'What\'s your favourite\' topics, we should have one pinned one in each MM forum and eliminate all others. This can be carefully moderated and the normal members can always have they\'re fingured on the \'report\' button. Also, we can make it so you can\'t say just that you like someone, but why you like them. As most of us will try to stop SPAM, that will make the topics interesting, reading why they like the character.

With the \'help-me\' topics...................I don\'t know.....

As some of you guys mentioned before, we should have a main \"Who\'s your fav\" and a main \"Help\" topic for all the MM game forums. All that are created out of these topics would be deleted.

I think it would cut spam down some if not a lot.

The current \"information\" topics kind of serve the purpose of requesting help, right? In the MMBN forum, the ONB thread did removed many questions that would have gotten their own topics, but I don\'t know if that\'s really needed for other forums. After all, the other series don\'t get games every 3 months, unlike the Network titles ;)

As far as the \"favorites\" topics are concerned... Do you really think that a *single* topic by forum would work? Besides the favorite character / weapon / bad guy / ability / level / boss, it would get messy way too fast.

From what I understand though, I could only answer a question someone has if I pass your quiz. But say for example, I know the answer to a question but I don\'t pass your quiz. Then the question might not get answered. So as a result, I really dislike the ONB topics. Besides, if we have only one topic for questions, then what are we gonna fill the forum with?

I remember telling this guy, \"You posted this topic two times in a row.\"

And he replied, \"Yah, so what.\"

Favorite topic problem: My major problem with the favorite topics, is that new members can\'t find the search button and end up posting the same topics.
When advised not to create such topics, comments from such members are ignored, unless a MOD steps into the situation.
Perhaps, if it where stated somewhere that such topics were advised against by our local admin, then our words would become stonger.
...Course, they\'d still have to learn to listen first...

Help topic problems: I liked how these initally started out, with all the resources provided in one place, then pinned in an easy to find location.
However, it becomes very difficult to find the answers to the questions in the mix. Often, one is overlooked and others are answered several times.
Perhaps if we just kept the original post made by Bass SP and held it as a \"resource topic\" it would get simplier.

I apologize for my absence, however, it will be a bit longer. Those who wish to contact me, I have updated my email and AIM info. Thanks.

Well, is it posted anywhere (rules, rule board, anywhere other than a random topic) that we\'re supposed to use the search function before posting a topic? Sure, most n00bs won\'t pay attention, but I\'m sure others will...

I\'m getting sick of the favorites topics, but Doc has a point. Not much you can do in this situation.

Just..don\'t give in to the lamers. Always come out fighting. :lol:
