If you have common sense, by reading the thread\'s name you know this is going to contain spoilers for Spider Man: The Movie. So, if you haven\'t read it yet, read no further.

I haven\'t bought it yet myself, but I checked the mag out in a bookstore here in my town and it seems like Stan Lee did the writing... I forgot the artist\'s name, but the art was decent. Average, fitting the movie characterizations well.

One of things that I saw, though, is the difference of some scenes. Spidey\'s making more wisecracks than in the movie (Green Goblin tells him that together they could turn the town \"upside down\" if they joined forces, and Spidey replies \"I dunno... I feel dizzy upside down.\" for an example), some other scenes seemed to be cut out (like when MJ visits Aunt May in the hospital and she and Peter chats). However, there\'s one scene that seems to be smacking in your face Harry Osborn\'s becoming the second Green Goblin. In Norman\'s burial, he tells Peter \"Spider Man\'s going to pay for what he\'s done to me... but YOU, Peter, will always be my greatest friend.\" The scene where Pete and MJ kiss was slight modified as well.

Well, if you\'ve read the comic, you know all the ones above. So, all in all, which did you prefer? The cinema version, or the adaptation for the comic books?

Heh... that must suck, Punk. We got it here 2 weeks after the US release, and the tickets for it sells like hot cakes. I watched it last weekend.

I loved that movie.. saw it for the fourth time last weekend. Haven\'t been able to get to go this weekend yet though...

Speaking of Spider-Man comic artist\'s, Jon Romita Jr. is god. Seriously, I haven\'t seen anyone\'s Spider Man comics look as cool as his. Though, I have no clue if he still does any Spidey comics, I haven\'t seen him do one in ages, and I don\'t have money to be spending on them right now.

So, if my last answer doesn\'t answer your question, no, I haven\'t read that comic. Spidey didn\'t make too much wisecracks in the movie, but oh well, still a very good movie. I liked some though \"Oh, that\'s a nice outfit, did your husband make it for you?\" XD But comics based on movies are always slightly different. At least it follows the plot better then the game did...

Oh, and Willem Dafoe ruled as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. They couldn\'t have picked a better person for the plot. And the costume isn\'t that bad.. what, you expect him to run around in a suit like his comic book one? Yeah, green and purple tights are really scary.... I\'d more just point and laugh at him then be afraid. =P

My favorite artist of all time for Spider Man\'s got to be Mark Bagley, even though some of the last stories that he drew weren\'t so good.

As for Romita Jr., I don\'t like his style much myself, but it\'s all a matter of opinion. I stopped buying Spidey\'s comics due to lack of budget in 2000 (The cronology was par up to 1998 though here in Brazil), but for what I read around the \'net, Romita Jr. still draws Spider Man\'s comics that are being written by Straczinski (sp?).

As for the Green Goblin suit, I agree. The movie one looks very menacing and fitting, it was a nice change from the comics.

I seriously have no clue when I stopped buying them, but was for the same reasons. I would be buying them now, but the stores here only seem to carry \'Peter Parker: Spider Man\', and the art in that right now is so horibly it\'s not even funny. But if I saw one that had Romita Jr.\'s work...

That whole clone saga in the comics annoyed me. Don\'t know why I\'m mentioning it, but I am. It was cool at first, but I think they just went too far with it.. I did however, like the Scarlet Spider\'s suit alot.

Finally, someone agrees that the movie suit wasn\'t so bad.. I\'m so sick and tired of hearing people complain and make fun of it. Speaking of movie villians.. I think it\'d be cooler if in the sequels, they had more of the old school villains.. Mysterio could be pretty damn cool to see in a movie. And eh, I just like old Fishbowl head..

Hmm, I can\'t really tell who is the artist for this magazine, because here in Brazil, instead of having all the different titles published, we have only one Spider Man mag with compilations of all the mags that were published in US first. So if in USA they released Amazing Spider Man #400, Sensational Spider Man #10 and Peter Parker: Spider Man #30, we\'d be reading that in only one magazine and the next month\'s comic would be done the same way.

Pretty much. At first it was very good, but they did went too far with it. The Gwen Stacy clones, the Jackal stuff, and the repoisition of Peter for Ben... gah. They should\'ve kept Ben as the Scarlet Spider and let him be active even to today instead of trying to give him the entire spotlight. The ending was very stupid IMO as well, with Osborn\'s ressurection.

I think Mysterio\'s very likely to make an appearance in the next movie. Even if he\'s old schooled, he\'s still quite popular. As for Fishbowl head, I\'d have no idea.

Well, if Sam Raimi is going to direct the next two movies, I guess it\'s all good then. I\'d like to see Dr. Octopus and Venom, myself.

Yes, Ben shoulda been kept as the Scarlet Spider. I like Ben and all, but he\'s not Spider Man; it only seems right, at least to me, if Parker has that role. What I thought was messed up, was when Peter was told he was the clone.. I mean, what the hell? The guy we\'ve been reading comics for awhile was really the clone? *sigh* Ah well, I\'m glad that turned out to be untrue. Yeah, Norman coming back was pretty stupid, I thought too.

I like the old school villians more myself, actually.... I think Mysterio could be really cool in a movie though.. or maybe Max Gargan.. heh. Fishbowl head is Mysterio, it was a comment on the bubble thing he\'s got....

For the love of god, they better keep Sam Raimi, he did a good job. I\'d really hate to see the Spidey movies go the way as the Batman movies... Doc Ock could be kinda cool to see, too. Venom could be alright, if done right.. but as long as he\'s the only symbiote they use in a movie.. I\'ll never get to see my favorite villian in a movie though.. they\'ve already used one goblin, and if they have another goblin, it should be Harry.. ah well, Hobby(Kingsley, not Mackendale, or Leeds...) still rules, I say..

Reeve said Venom won\'t be in any of the movies since someone else bought the rights for him. :conf:

But if that\'s true..then oh well, no Venom for me.

That doesn\'t sound right.. someone else buying the rights for Venom.. because it\'d be hard to do a Venom movie itself, without Spider Man or at least mentioning him. His very existence is tied to Parker\'s. Also, Venom never had his own comic series, I believe(I may be wrong, though.. =P), just a few mini series, and specials, like The Vault. He\'s still basically a Spidey character.

Scorpion... almost forgot about \'im. Would be great, indeed. Look what they did to Green Goblin\'s uniform and imagine what they could do for Gargan\'s suit.

As for \'Venom being bought by somebody else\'... wtf? That makes no sense whatsoever.

I was trying to think of more old school villians, but I can only think of the Vulture right now.. *shrug* Well, Electro\'s coming to mind too, right not, but I never cared for him.. or Vulture either. Hmmm.. wait, there\'s the Chameleon too.. could be alright, but I dunno.. they had Mystique in the X-Men moving.. don\'t know if I\'m really into seeing another person who can change what they look like. Though, I like the Chameleon alot more then Mystique..

Oh, and on a side note.. I found one of my comics that Bagley did the art for, Life Theft part three, The Sadness of Truth. When you first mentioned him, the name didn\'t ring a bell, but I can see why you like his art though, he draws Spider Man very good. Still, I\'m more inclined to Romita Jr.\'s art, myself.

Oh.. and on a side note, has anyone seen a picture of Ben Affelck in the Daredevil suit? Looks.. like DD, I guess you could say..

Ben Affleck is evil, and must be destroyed.

Ed: Oh, and another thing. Chameleon was cool in the cartoon, I thought. Oh, but the cartoon didn\'t follow the comics very well, it wasn\'t CANON. So Necro deems it crap. Well, I liked the cartoon, man. And I want to see the old 60\'s or 70\'s, whichever, cartoon. The sibling was talking about the cartoon days ago..

\"Spider-Man was standing in a place with a crumbling ceiling. And he looked up, and a piece of ceiling was about to fall on him. He proceeds to say \"My spider sense tells me to jump!\" and jumps out of the way.\"
\"Umm..alright then. But I really think Spidey should\'ve said \"My common sense tells me to jump!\", unless he doesn\'t have that anymore...\"

(Oh, and I was kidding with ya, Necro..don\'t spaz. And damn this edit is long)

Me, spaz? Bahahahahaha.. you know very well if it appears I\'m spazing online, I\'m just having some fun.. heh.

The old 70\'s cartoon.. is weird. See, for everytime that Spidey swings around the city, they like, use the same animation in every episode, so his travel always looks the same. XD

The 90\'s cartoon was canon, I just don\'t like it because like you stated, I say it didn\'t follow very well. I felt the comics did things way better.. and some things in the cartoon were completly different. Like Hobgoblin being before Green Goblin? Um.. no. Also, Hobby\'s voice was always the same in the show, and later on they said he was Jason Macendale.. who was like, the third or fourth Hobgoblin. Roderick Kingsley was the first, Ned Leeds is somewhere in there, someone Kingsley got to pose as the Hobgoblin.. but anyways, Kingsley was around after Norman Osborn was the Green Goblin.. and hell, the cartoon had it as Mackendale the whole time. =P

Eh.. sorry if I went on.. just saying reasons why I thought it sucked.. heh. =)

And just in case anyone\'s interested and hasn\'t seen this... XD

Eh, I just didn\'t want you to spaz, you easily spazzed Square whore.

Well, the sibling was noting that Jameson looked like he was cut out of a comic and his animated mouth pasted on or something..and yeah, the same animation of Spidey swingin.. Sounds funny as hell though, and I wanna see it.

I don\'t care about no damn Goblins! Bite me! I\'m just saying that because all those names are confusing. And you know I know like, nothing. o.o

...well, I know that picture will be in my nightmares tonight.
