Well, after reading a few of the posts here on theories of each of the characters and their pasts in the Mega Man X series, I\'ve decided to make a little section here on what I\'ve managed to build up from my experience of the X installment.

The following information is based on evidence collected from MMX 1-6, Megman Power battle 1-2, and the Japanese Megaman X manga (comic). Only COMPLETE and VERIFIED information from these 3 scources will be posted for each character, but in certain cases I have added in my logical theories for the missing pieces.

X
X is simply the first reploid (significantly more sophisticated robot) built by Doctor Light. He was sealed in a capsule for 30 years to assure that he would not defect and go against humans. He is not the original Megaman, rather an entirely NEW model robot. Later, his capsule is prematurely found by Doctor Cain. Doctor Cain chooses not to disturb the capsule, however analyzes X\'s composition and creates his own line of \"reploids\". X later awakens on schedule, but to a wartorn world of maveric reploids, and is quickly recruited into an organization of \"maveric hunters\". His story continues on in the game Megaman X (1).

-information on this can be found in the begining cinematic for X1, the X1 instruction booklet, and the Japanese Comic, as well as the special European ver. cinematic ending for X3.

Zero
Zero is Doctor Whiley\'s creation. He is NOT an upgrade of Bass(Forte) or Protoman(Blues) as other believe. However, Zero\'s creation WAS influenced by Bass\' design. Bass, and his energy scource, \"Bassnium\", is the foundation of Zero\'s \"evil\" power scource. Whiley\'s original plan was to release Zero, and the Zero virus (later called the Maveric Virus)upon the world. Zero was also set in a capsule, timed to open at the same time as X.

-evidence of this info can be found in the Bass storyline ending for Megaman Power Battle 2 arcade. Whiley specifically details this, and mentions \"this new robot, along with my other project...\", with a silhouette of Zero on the screen.

However when Zero awakens, (slightly earlier than X), he proceeds with his mission, and is found in an abandoned warehouse by the Maveric Hunters. Shortly, he is defeated by Sigma (good), analyzed, and awakens with no memory of his evil nature. Zero soon raises through the ranks, and meets X. They become best friends.

-information on this can be found in the X4 ending for Zero. Hints of X and Zero\'s \"destiny\" to fight each other can be seen in the X3 ending.

Dr. Light
Simply, he created X, and died of old age. previous theories stating Zero woke early and killed him are false. Zero was sealed in a capsule programed to open roughly the same time as X (Whiley and his ways =\\). The images seen in the cinematic of Zero\'s X4 ending, showing Zero\'s hands with blood are not from Dr. Lights lab, but the warehouse where he was found by sigma. Other theories stating he is alive, and transmitting from a far away place are possible.. but unlikely. (X5-6, he talks to Zero, intelligently, but I ask you, where the hell would a poor old doctor hide in a world that has been scared by the flames of a fallen space colony!?). The Answer? : the Dr. Light hollograms of the capsules are not just recordings, they are intelligently programed interactive AI\'s sealed in each capsule. With these AI\'s, they know when to open for X, and when to stay locked.

-information on this can be found in the Japanese manga, in which case Dr. Light often has intelligent conversations with X (As if his conciousness were in the computer), and often guides his prized creation. Though the story of the Manga is not entirely official, Capcom has proven time after time, to draw new elements of their storyline from this Manga\'s concepts.

Whiley
Died of old age. ^_~ same as Light. A similar AI to Light\'s Capsule holograms os Whiley exists, but DIRECTLY inside Zero\'s conciousness, pushed aside by Zero\'s \"good side\".

Sigma
The original Sigma (his first body) was an extremely powerful reploid built by Dr. Cain. This body is later infected by the Maveric Virus, and manifests itself into the \"Sigma\" virus. This can be seen as Sigma\'s \"soul\", or at least the evil one of which we have come so acustomed to whooping ^_~.

-evidence of this is drawn from X1 intruction booklet, and X3 after Dr. Doppler speaks to X.

---------Fate\'s of the old Robots----------
not from Megaman X, however, somewhat important, as Capcom has already written in the ties between the original megaman and the X series. -proven mainly in the Power Battle Arcade, and the Manga. It has also been hinted at in X4,5 and 6.

Megaman
Fate unknown. Capcom seems to have not released any info on what has become of the Blue Bomber, however it is sure that he was not remade into Megaman X...

(Protoman)Blues
Protoman is the FIRST robot. He was built by BOTH doctor Light and Whiley. Whiley later betrays Light, stealing the first 8 robots that they later build together.

As mainly brought up in Megaman the Power Battle 2, Blues was slowly dieing of a power core defect, and refused to be repaired by doctor Light, stating it was \"not his style\". It\'s safe to assume he died. Sorry Blues fans ^_~.

(Bass)Forte
Built by Dr. Whiley almost by accident, when Whiley discovers the mysterious energy \"Bassnium\", while trying to make a robot similar to Megaman.

His fate is also unknown.. however as previously stated, his energy scource is refined into the Zero core, used in Zero, which emits powerful negative \"Virus Energy\".

Possible Theories are that he either died along with megaman in a final battle, or was disowned and eventually wiped out by Whiley... with one of his \"much powerfuller, newer robots\".

Anyways, I hope this has helped you..

Note once again that this is the information collected from my completion of MMX1,2,3,4,5,6(Zero and X Storylines), Megman The Power Battle 1 + 2, and reading of the Japanese Manga, (Megaman X part 1,2,3),(Megaman X2 part 1,2,3),(Megaman X3 part 1,2,3,4) and (Megaman X4 part 1,2...).

Megaman Legends at the moment hasnt shown enough evidence to be linked to Megaman X. So, the basic assumption right now is that Legends is an entirely alternate universe- ALTHOUGH! some people have begun to make connections and theories between Megaman Zero and Legends, saying that there are hints in Megaman Zero 2 pointing out that Legends may be taking place several hundred years after the Megaman Zero series..? but thats for you to search out x_X...

As for Duo... I have absolutely no idea =). So we\'ll leave that to everyone\'s imagination. Capcom hasn\'t been very generous on showing the relation/end of Megaman Original and transition to X...
