Sorry I pressed enter when I didn\'t mean too. Have you ever felt that an evil henchmen is cooler than his evil master? Do you ever think that the castle gaurd look cooler than the heroic paladin? Do you ever think that a gang member looks cooler than the actual leader? I know I do. Personally, I think henchmen are the coolest thing.

Which gets me to thinking, what are the coolest type of henchmen? I think that the attractive female assassin with throwing knives may just be it. Or the tall skinny guy with gauze who carries a giant axe, cleaver or machete.:D

Well, that would be a Henchwoman, now wouldn\'t it, Aim? :P But I suppose you mean the type of anime chic that perhaps would make our buddy SolarWarrior babble, \"Hot stuff!\"
With no offense towards him.

Personally, I never found the big, stupid, heavy, strong, cliche henchman striking a \'cool\' tone in my mind.

Perhaps the mysterious ninja-type of likeness, hired to kill the main character, or betrays the mastermind? Sorry, my idea pool\'s empty.

My favorite type of henchmen are the bumbling idiot type that don\'t really do anything helpful despite their efforts. Kinda like Fujin and Rajin from Final Fantasy VIII; they\'re incompetent, but they\'re good for bringing humour into the game.

I find the Turks from the previously mentioned games predecessor to my liking as well.

But I do like Ridley more than Mother Brain. I just like alot of villians..they\'re cool, ya know. :D And other times you can\'t even tell who\'s the boss, like with Spider-Man. Who the hell is the top villian in all that?

There\'s no such thing as a top villain for Spiderman. Each villain is equally evil.

I thought Rhino was pretty stupid too. But I just saw him on the cartoon...and he was like Rocksteady on the cartoon, he showed up too often and occassionally busted down walls.

The original and current Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, is Spider-Man\'s greatest foe; however, he isn\'t the big enemy. There isn\'t a big enemy for Spider-Man simply because none of the villains have the same agenda. They have in certain stories, but in general they\'re all after something different.

I would argue that Venom is a better villain than the Green Goblin. Venom has all the skills and memories that Spiderman has and then some. The Green Goblin flies around on a glider, shoots stuff and throws pumpkin bombs.

Agenda-wise, Venom exists for the sole purpose of killing Spiderman. The Green Goblin is just crazy.

This makes me think of something. How many times in games and anime has it turned out that the true villian was originally known as a henchman to the player/viewer? It\'s just getting annoying. Just when you think everything\'s over with...

The Green Goblin and Spider-Man have a relationship that Venom never obtained with the wallcrawler. Venom shouldn\'t even be compared to Norman Osborn for greatest villain. He hasn\'t done anything too significant to damage Spider-Man\'s life, yet Norman Osborn hurt Peter Parker like no one ever had before and has since.

I would like to hear an example.

Venom has a greater bond with Spiderman\'s psyche and that makes him more dangerous. The Green Goblin understands Spiderman too, but Venom knows him better.

Well, Parker was in love with Gwen Stacy before Mary Jane showed up, ya know. Where\'s Stacy now? Goblin killed her, everyone thinks that\'s enough to make Goblin the big villian of Spider-Man. >.>

Now I\'m not saying that\'s not such a big thing. I guess I\'m just biased because Goblin looks so goofy and non-super villian.

Venom\'s just been annoying in comparison. Oh, and if you follow the \"old\" cartoon. The Green Gblin also caused Mary Jane to fall off the bridge into a huge \"void\" So did the Goblin. This Goblin was GG Jr. so to speak. So the Green Goblin line ended I think.

IIRC that is

It\'s completely obvious to me now that you don\'t know very much about Spider-Man and if you\'ve even read any of the comics it must have been very little. No one is actually reads the comics would even contest that Venom is in the same league as Norman Osborn.

Spoiler (click to toggle)
Back in the 1970s(I\'ve read reprints), Norman Osborn, the Green Goblin at the time, became obsessed with trying to defeat Spider-Man. He eventually followed Spider-Man one day without Spidey knowing that he was really there, and found out that his nemesis was none other than his son\'s college roomate, Peter Parker. The goblin couldn\'t beat Spider-Man, but Parker he could. It eventually lead to the famous bridge scene, which has appeared in the movie and 90s cartoon, albeit edited. In the original comics, Peter Parker wasn\'t always in love with only Mary-Jane. The first love of Peter Parker\'s life was a Miss Gwen Stacy; she was someone Peter loved more than anyone and still cherishes her memory to this day. Like what happened to MJ, Gwen was kidnapped and taken to the bridge. She too, was thrown off. Spidey tried to save her by catching her with a web, but when the web caught her foot the sudden stop was too much and Gwen\'s neck snapped. Spider-Man publically got the blame for her death, which he blamed himself for. But Norman was the reason it happened. Norman was the driving factor in the death of the first woman Peter Parker loved.

Like in the movie, Norman did get impaled by his glider eventually and it was believed that he died.

However, Norman resurfaced during the clone saga of the 90s(which was horrible), which was again, something of his doing. The whole scheme was just a sick game to him. The storyline ended with MJ having a miscarriage due to Norman\'s influence(or he stole their baby, Marvel never looked back after the storyline ended. For good reason) and killed Peter\'s clone, Ben Reilly, who was like a brother to Peter kinda.

That\'s not all. Norman has also tried to brainwash Peter Parker into becoming his sucessor as the Green Goblin.

And last year, Norman Osborn used some drugs on Peter\'s childhood friend Flash Thompson and made him drive into the school where Peter works. As a result, Flash is now a vegetable.

Please tell me what on earth Venom has even done that\'s close to touching what Norman Osborn has done to Peter Parker. Venom is a cool character who has unfortunately been misused too many times. He never became the villain he could have been, and never came close to being the number one villain like many thought he would be. The Green Goblin is the greatest enemy of Spider-Man.

Well I don\'t read the comics at all but I watched the TV series and I thought it was pretty cool. :)

Err, I\'m sorry.

I have a habit of going overboard with Spider-Man, which I\'m sure most members here have figured out I\'m a big fan of. I should let you know that while it\'s nice to know you enjoyed the cartoon, it really wasn\'t the best source for judging Spider-Man because it butchered events that happened in the comics. But I admit to most people it wouldn\'t really matter.

Sorry if I was flying off the handle. =)

Harry\'s pretty funny in the new MTV cartoon. He\'s always doing that \'curse you, Spider-Man! You killed my dad!\' thing. They haven\'t touched on Green Goblin though, in that series. They just made Electro look stupid, and Lizard look cute.

I still say Venom is the better villain -in my opinion-. BUT it\'s only because I grew up with Venny action figures and watching him on the cartoon (And well, the fact that my artist idol Todd McFarlane had a part in creating him, too). I\'m pretty sure if I actually read the comics I\'d break down and admit that Goblin was the better villain, but until then..

Harry did replace Norman as the Green Goblin for abit. His pyschiatrist even tried to be the Green Goblin for abit, but this was during when Harry was still the Goblin. Harry never lived up to his father, however. And he eventually died from overdose on the Goblin formula.

Like in the movie, Norman did get impaled by his glider at the famous bridge scene. It was originally believed that Norman perished there, but later on it was revealed that he didn\'t die, and his body healed at an accelerated rate due to the Goblin formula. He returned later at the end of the clone saga.

So the current Green Goblin in the comics is none other than Norman Osborn, the man who carried the moniker originally.

Necro , you you lost me on the big Spider-man thing. Well, I\'m going back on topic. My favorite henchman is probably Zain from Megaman Xtreme. He\'s a man (actually Maverick ) of few words that cuts people into little peices with a big sword, what\'s not to like? Yep, the big, yellow maverick with a big sword.
