You know, the internet is funny in some ways. We judge others by how their behaviour is, not on anything else, correct? What gets me though, is how old you think a person seems, can be way off. Is there anyone else who seems \"lamer type,\" and automatically thinks that the person is young? I don\'t know why it is, but I always think that. I know it\'s not true, many adults type like that too, and there are some cases where I\'ve seen 12 year olds with really good typing skills. Perhaps it\'s a fault of mine, but I almost always think the person typing like that is young and stupid.

What I think is funny though, is if we all didn\'t know each others ages, something tells me alot of people would guess things way off then what they are. I hooe HJ doesn\'t mind me using her as an example, but I wouldn\'t have guessed she was 14(she is, isn\'t she? o.o). I mean that in an impressive way though, she\'s a very good artist(much much beter then I was at her age) and doesn\'t act like an idiot..

I dunno where I\'m going with all this really. I just like though, how one conducts oneself here is how they\'ll be judged, not by age or anything. I used to hate it when I was younger, when family used to base things off age, and I always got the short end of the stick, because they thought I was too stupid to understand I did since I was much younger then them all.. bah.

Uh.. yeah. o.o I just think it\'s cool how age means nothing on the internet really. =)

Actually no, internet age does matter..heh. Well, only if you tell people what it is. I have been \'accused\' of being from 14 (or was it 13..) to 22 years of age.

It really sucks though..because if you\'re young, and are relatively intelligent..can carry on conversations without an \'omg\'.. People assume you\'re older then. And perhaps you tell them your age..then sometimes they get bitchy, can\'t believe they\'ve been talking to a mere child all this time, and dismiss you as such, not thinking the same of you as before.

I see why certain individuals keep their age a secret from various dimwits.

Well, that\'s why telling your age to some people is a bad idea, for the reason you said, Hollow. Plus, the other might look down at you and not take in what you have to say.

But that\'s why I think age is irrelevant, because if you don\'t say anything, the other won\'t know how old you are, and will just make a guess by how you act. Someone could easily get along with others in other age groups this way..

With the exception of things like child pornography, e-shopping, and a few others issues, I would have to agree that age really shouldn\'t be considered with most things internet related and viewing others.

However, a physical trait like age is a convenient way for most societies to stereotype others.

Me,hj and fred are the same age...intresting....when i first saw Dr.cossack on the board i thought he may be like 28 or something because he acts very mature....anyways actually he\'s like 19......you can never label someone by age...because we all act different...this board showed me that.

Meh. . .I regularly play in EverQuest, so the whole \"online age\" thing is like a mish-mosh of whatever anymore. I see lamers who range from 13 to into their 40\'s and beyond, and then, there\'s just as much of a range of people who can actually type coherently.

I know I was one of those people who always kept strict about typing correctly, and heck, when I was 14, I was called anywhere from there to into my 20s. The stereotypes kinda stink, but I guess you can\'t avoid them.

When it comes to knowing someone\'s age, I don\'t really have a problem with it, unless the person is way older than me and sTiLl tYp3s L1k3 t|-|l5. Nothing bugs me more than \"ur\" or \"omg\" or \"thx\". What is \"thx\"? Fer chrissake, to me, that refers to the masters of sound, not an expression of gratitude! Blah!

Anyway, I went way off subject there, sorry. I judge, but it\'s more on a level of intelligence, not age.

Funny how no-body asked for my age since I started using the internet, that is.


I never really know how old a person really is on the internet but I could make assumptions. And usually me assumptions lead me to very VERY akward situations, it does.

I do tend to think sometime that a person with higher skill than mine, in any place/game, means that they are older, but it really scares me when the person is a few years younger. I re... wait back to the point here not my story :rolleyes::P

Ahh well, all I can say is that your mental age really makes a large different, that it does.

Why judge on age if said person you are judging has more sence than you?

I type very regularly because I cannot desipher half of the internet lingo people throw at you. Brb, omg, ty, it goes on and on.

Anyway, in my early days, I was such a hyper annoying fangirl that everyone guessed me to be younger than I was.

When I started getting cynical and stuff. No one bothered to try to guess my age.

(As if you didn\'t know, I\'m 21. I was 15 when I was in that hyper fangirl phase. Ugh. I hate those days.)
