Starring...uh...everybody...:D

Anyways, my 7th grade English class has just finished studying The Giver. As a final project, we are doing a debate. There are 8 teams, and 4 issues with an \"A\" and a \"B\" side to each. We must defend our point. Our topic and opinion to defend is randomly chosen.

It begins tomorow.

My topic is on raising kids. My group is side \"B\". Side \"A\" has the opinion that everyone deserves the right to raise a child. \"B\" claims that only adults proven to be responsible should be allowed to raise one.

What are your thoughts?

Well the giver is a great book.
In that creeped up place(where the book takes place) They have weird rules.Any way i would thing that some one that was reliable and trustworthy would be aloud to raise a child but at a mature enough age.

Well, if you’re for the later, the best argument is the society betterment issue. If only people proven to be good people are allowed to raise children, then society as a whole will most likely be less violent, more caring, and far more empathetic.

If you going the other way, just bring up what superiority theory does to people...nazi.:D

Personally, I\'m for the non-nazi way, but for the debate I must take the certain people only approach.

The Giver. That was one of the stupidest books I have ever read. But back to subject. I believe adults should be proven to raise their kids. How? I don\'t know, but I do want there to be a requirement.

I happened to read that book for fun the other day.

Have you reached the end?

An amazing conflict in the boook is whether or not Jonas actually made it \'elsewhere\'...or if that sled was really there.

Have you actually reached the end?

Isn\'t it amazing how they couldn\'t see color? Drab yes, but amazing none the less.

I enjoy the sleep that has been given to me by my Father. Sukasa, where are you?

No offense, Aura, but you are just a little off topic. Yes, I read the whole book and I hated the ending. No, I despised the ending. Anyway, Do you believe there should be some type of requirement for parenthood?

The problem is..usually no one cares about the parents until the child is born.

Meaning..that unfit parents aren\'t known to be unfit until they are given a child. You could be the nicest person in the world, but not know how to raise children. Yet you could also be a two-timing whore..but raise your children well. You just can\'t tell unless they have children.

But..I do think drug addicts shouldn\'t be able to have children. It\'s terrible to bring a kid into the world that has an addiction to cocaine as soon as it\'s born. Unfortunately, it\'s not exactly \'morally correct\' if we start denying crack addicts the ability to have children..

Dilemma.

oh god, the Giver, THAT old headache. that book was all right, i guess....

My thoughts are perfect for your side. I think any one person can sucssecfully raise a child, so why not any one person have the right to care for a child? A crack whore CAN raise a child properly. The only thing is that she made mistakes during her life and she could teach that kid how to not make those mistakes and then her child could turn out better than a person who grew up and has a desent living but doesn\'t really pay attention to what their kid does. That kid could end up as a crack whore and the crack whores kid could turn out to be the docter or the astronaut....(whatever you think the most sucssessful job in the world is......

By the by i am quite aware that your debate is well over by now.... (summer time, der!) but i just thought i should throw my two cents in...... thats what bore-dumb does to you. makes you bump up old topics......
