Kimba the White Lion and Disney\'s The Lion King. Two different but closely equal or a blunt rip off of the first mentioned. This discussion has been talked about for years, literally.

Oh. What a world we live in where you \"can\'t even trust your own brother?\". Wait... that is only if the Lion King was a total rip-off of Kimba the White Lion and all of Disney\'s lawyers were are telling the truth. I\'ll be fair. The Lion King and Kimba the White Lion have nothing similar.

...except for the characters....

...maybe the story too...

...and probably names and places also...

Hey! Who can really blame Disney? They never even heard of Kimba or his creator Tezuka Osamu. (He shook hands with Disney\'s founder, Walt Disney, way back when they both were alive. He admired Disney and wasn\'t afraid to admit he had inspiration from some of Disney\'s movies.)

Which do you think I prefer? Kimba the White Lion, of course. Kimba has something that The Lion King doesn\'t have: a heart, soul, and morality. But that\'s dangerous with cartoons and animated features, especially ones that are seen by millions and millions of children worldwide. We don\'t want to get all preachy about doing the right thing or having consequences for actions! People will get offended!

By the way, Kimba was never really a preachy lion cub. It was through his actions and lessons he learned which taught the viewers what was right and wrong.

Did you know? Simba was a white lion in the pre-production drawings and was also called \"Kimba\"!

Please, take sometime and read these articles.

http://www.kimbawlion.com/rant2.htm (If you are tired of reading, look at the photos. They tell enough information...)
http://www.kimbawlion.com/16_ce.htm (Please note that this link has a lot of foul lang but I agree with him a lot more than the first article\'s author... Go down 14 paragraphs, he will completely use no cursing. Those silly Australians... ^^)

EDIT: Oh yea. Forgot to mention. I\'m sorry to those who might be offended.

Thank you for your time! B)

Well, I\'ve seen both Lion king and Kimba but I haven\'t really watched them enough to notice the similarities. But the fact that their main characters rhyme with each other shows some kind of similarity... Kimba, Simba, hmm...

But yes, one can not ignore the very definite similarites between Kimba and Simba (just switch the K for a S) I could believe it was just a rip off of Jungle Emperor.

This isn\'t the first shady thing pulled by Disney.

I tried to look it up , the movie that i remember. Does anybody happen to remember the absolute Disney groan called, \"Jungle 2 Jungle.\" Well they also ripped that movie off of another. I tried to find it on amazon.com to show you guys, but for the love of it, i couldn\'t remember the name, or anything near it....

Also most have heard of the subliminal messages in past Disney movies (i.e. the lion king, the little mermaid, Aladdin, ect.)

Here\'s an article on Disney\'s subliminal past.

http://kzsu.stanford.edu/~dougm/Humor/bawdy/95/September/SubliminalMessages.html

And here is a video display a few of the subliminal messages disney has pulled in the past. NOTE: you younger ones might not want to look at these subliminals...

The truth of the \'subliminal messages\' in Disney movies can be found at Snopes.com. In reality, the studio producing the movies for Disney added things occassionally..I think they were called Studio SFX. That\'s where the \'SFX\' (which abunch of soccermoms saw as \'SEX\') in the blowing leaves comes from..in the Lion King.

Yes Studio SFX added some \'wrong\' things but Disney didn\'t even know about it.

As for Kimba and Simba...anime came from Disney in the first place. I don\'t think it\'s so bad if there\'s give and take. Besides, Kimba didn\'t have Scar..who was a badass. Or a hyena voiced by Whoopi Goldberg. You definitely don\'t see that everyday.

The \"anime came from Disney in the first place\"? Please show me, I want to see where you came to that conclusion. If you are talking about the \"Bambi\" and Kimba connection, Kimba came first. A photo finish but Kimba came first.

Kimba the White Lion does have a \"Scar\" character. His name is \"Claw\". He is a dark lion, with a black mane and a scar across his eye on... I think it was on the right... Or was it on the left. Funny, Scar has it on the other side so if Scar has it on the right, Claw must have it on the left. ;^^

(Sorry, Hollow, if it sounds like I\'m picking a fight with you... Don\'t hurt me... ;;^^)

Don\'t get me wrong guys, I\'m not angry with the movie in general. It\'s the people who made the ... movie. They denied even hearing of Tezuka\'s works! Now, you go to Japan as often as Disney does, you will see, at least once, Kimba the White Lion or Astro Boy. Animators are to study many types of art forms. Tezuka is considered the \"Walt Disney\" of Japan, so why wouldn\'t a Disney animator look into this?

I remember I went to a Cancer Society Christmas party a few years back. They had some animators drawing pictures for the little kiddies. Well, I wasn\'t a kiddie but once they saw that I had a Tezuka character on my backpack, they wanted me over so they could draw it. Let me tell you, they weren\'t asian...

From what I\'ve heard, The Lion king\'s story was based off Hamlet. A son of a murdured father getting back the kingdom from his evil uncle.

To tell the truth, I\'ve never heard of The jungle king. It looks like disney realized thet they didn\'t have the rights to a remake and changed the consept (slightly). But on the other hand, there has been made copies of disney movies for a long time. The Lion king, the little mermaid, Pinocchio, Aladdin etc. all have been copies of by low quality companies. I doubt the Jungle king falls under this category though...

No no, I\'m saying that anime is here in the first place because the first animes were made AFTER the anime folks had watched Disney movies. They blatantly said they were \'influenced by Disney\'.

I\'m not saying they ripped Disney off or anything like that, no. I\'m just saying, what goes around comes around.. Disney got \'influenced\' by Kimba, albeit too much.

Old news story but I bet it wasn\'t spread around (Probably because the case involved French people. Just joking? ;;;^^).

Another case lost...

I still can\'t find the news article about Aladdin. One of these days... *snaps fingers*

Wow. I guess Disney is curiously \"inspired\" oftentimes...

Yeah, I thought the same thing about Kimba when I saw the show on a Mummies Alive! VHS a while ago... That he was really Simba like.

And Aladin can\'t be a lie! Especially not with the DVD coming out so soon.:D

Did I just say I\'d watched a Mummies Alive! VHS? I\'ve gotta learn not to share everything with you guys.-_-

...

\"Mr. Patten also states that Kimba fans could not remember details about the show they loved\"

OH NO HE DIDN\'T!!!

Ain\'t no way you can say that fan doesn\'t know his fandom!!! That\'s like saying I don\'t know what color MegaMan is!!! He would\'ve been JUST FINE if he hadn\'t said THAT. The fact is, FANS KNOW THEIR STUFF. I know every weakness to every Robot Master. If some guy says I don\'t just so he won\'t get sued, I\'ll be glad to show up in court and prove \'im wrong.

There\'s different degrees of fandom.

There\'s obsessive fandom who knows /everything/

There\'s fans who aren\'t obsessive but do know enough.

There\'s casual fans who can\'t remember things.

I highly doubt some people just said \"Hey, let\'s sue Disney. I kinda remember something that is similar to this movie.\". Court cases are expensive (especially ones like these). People who go against the big dogs must have a whole lot of information to back up their story.

Of course, Disney gets by with just a few scratches in their wallet (maybe make money either from the case or from the talk about the \"scandal\" (people love to know what the fuss is all about so they go buy the movies)) while the defendant, who should have had some kind of compensation, loses tons of cash.

For a \"family friendly\" company, they run some unforgiving/vicious battles...

I\'m sorry, Kia, if I seem to bite you in the hand but Disney made so many \"mistakes\" that it just... ...You are not bleeding. Are you? *pulls out some bandages and medicine*

In the case about Nemo, I think it\'s worth pointing out that the characters and story are from Pixar Animation Studios, whose movies are currently being published by Disney. The movie teams are not the same between the two companies, so I wouldn\'t really count this as a Disney issue...

Man, I\'m afraid to make anything with animal characters as the lead roles... Next thing I know some guy from Russia is going to come out of the woodwork and sue me because my mallard duck looks just like his and the storyline was partially similar.
