The first answer is here.

Sounds a bit screwed to me... In my opinion when stuff like that happens theres only a couple of things you can try but if you can\'t even get into windows, maybe this will help you... hehe...

Next was a link that took me to a thread

Quote:
I\'ve seen this question asked/answered so many times I could do it blindfolded so to save people alot of time, I thought I\'d give it to you in this detailed guide, hope it helps! Formatting is the process of removing all data from your computer, in cases of extreme viruses or other computer problems, this is sometimes necessary but I wouldn\'t recommend it as a first option because as I say, it removes ALL data.

WINDOWS XP USERS

Windows XP proceedure is simple, just insert the CD and reset your computer, follow the on screen prompts until you get to the options where you can Format/create or delete partitions. Select a \"Quick NTFS Format\" unless you have suffered virus or registry problems, if you have then I recommend you delete the partition, create a new one, then format. Setup will then go on to install Windows XP.

WINDOWS 2000 USERS

Create the 4 Windows 2000 Boot Disks, downloadable from http://www.bootdisk.com . Insert the first disk and reset, follow the on screen prompts until you get to Setup, select Install Windows, Select a \"Format with NTFS File System\" unless you have suffered virus or registry problems, if you have then I recommend you delete the partition, create a new one, then format. Setup will then go on to install Windows 2000.

WINDOWS 98 USERS

If you are still using Windows 98 I highly recommend you upgrade but I\'ll explain the proceedure as it is more complicated.

Create a Windows 98 Boot Disk from http://www.bootdisk.com , insert it and restart your computer. When presented with the Boot Menu, hold SHIFT+F5 to get to the DOS prompt.
You will see C:\\
Type \"format C:\" without the \". Your hard drive will soon be formatted. Reset your computer leaving the boot disk in, but this time allow it to boot into Windows 98 Setup and follow the on screen instructions to install.

I hope this helps guys, obviously I am providing this guide free although this service costs £105 in local PC repair centres so if you consider this a huge favour please don\'t hesitate to donate even the smallest amount via Paypal (http://www.paypal.com) to joshbrangwyn@yahoo.com send any questions or improvements to the guide there aswell, or suggest them in this thread. Let me know if this guide helped you!

Good Luck and Happy Formatting!

I got an error on my computer at home, (I am at my grandma\'s house right now) and it said \"MONITOR NOT DETECTED.\" I don\'t know why, but I can\'t get it to find the monitor. What do I do?

So I'm not going to have anything spectacular in my signature.

well, obviously it\'s a problem getting the message from the computer to the monitor, and I\'d say to check all the wires, etc.

We know the monitor\'s okay, because otherwise you couldn\'t get the message, could you? wait, is this a message from the computer or the monitor? take the plug connecting the monitor and computer and see if anything changes. if not, check all the cords and ports.

My computer is even..funner.

It will play music. But only for a certain period of time. Randomly while playing music, it will shut itself off, reset itself.

It does this with Winamp and Meridian Advance. But will not shut off when I play ZSNES (yes, with music turned on). It freezes with Neopets flash games, on occassion..and shuts off/resets with other flash games, like those ones for forums..

I\'ve tried getting new drivers but that didn\'t help..

All Windows systems are similar, with the exception of XP. All other OS\'s of Microsoft are almost the same.

Holly, chances are you\'ve got a not too powerful PSU, depending on how old your computer, meaning that not enough power is getting to your computer, either that or you might have a RAM worm.

That reminds me, I need to do a RAM test again... It\'s odd that the power would have something to do with it though, but that would make sense. I would think it would only reset when something is making the computer work harder..such as loading big programs or playing Quake 3.

Right, so, I\'m shuffling between forums. I have a problem a member on another forum needs an answer.

Quote:
So i buy this DVD burner and look into its HD burning feature, and am wondering the following:

The burner came with Nero 6.0 for dvd and cdr burning. There is a built-in feature of HD burning which is supposed to allow me to burn 1.4GB of data onto a 700mb cd-r. I tried the burn and it would not work,

is there a certain kind of disk that is needed or something I didn\'t do that did not allow the burn?

Thank a lot,

Blake

I\'d like to give him an answer.

Maybe Nero isnt compatible with the HDD burning feature?

Are you sure he was burning EXACTLY 1.4 Gig?

When he says board does he mean Motherboard because if he does, he\'ll have to give me the make and model of it to see what maximum processor he can get, also upgrade i advise you get water coolant, if your going to overclock you need to kept your computer cool.

Well whenever I start up the computer and it goes to the Desktop, something called \"Access Denied\" appears. It doesn\'t do anything... or does it? Is anyone able to verify that error?

Oh and...

I don\'t know if I should be talking about this but... my ZSNES emulator lags very often, even without the Internet on. If that\'s a good thing to discuss, then does anyone know the solution to end the lagging?

Tell your freind this could be a error with the cmos battery and the motherboard, Make sure the motherboard isn\'t corrupt or have any errors, and windos systems are not the same, Windows ME was built totally diffrent, thats why it ahs so many errors.

Mega, The AK70 motherboard can only get processors up to 1 GHz (not 100% sure),

The person with the XP problem has to install Microsoft Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 to get rid of this problem.

In light of what Sage has just told me on MSN, i dont know if you should get Service Pack 2, just stick with SP1, unless you dont have any of the programs on this list

I have the \'not shutting down\' problem too, but I thought that was just a Win98 problem? I guess Microsoft errors are contagious.

Another technical Question

Quote:
Well I am going to make my computer well working for a game called The sims 2..:

To MegaX: The persons computer BARELY scrapes the minimum system requirements, and in my opinion, if he\'s planning to upgrade his computer he\'s better to do a big upgrade rather than a minimum one, 512 Ram will last to the end of this year/early next year due to more demanding games coming out, the videocard wont play many high spec games and the processor, most games that are now coming out will require 1 GHz and most likely more.

But back the original question, Yes, his computer will play The Sims 2, just not very well.

|EDIT| $175 amounts to £97.15...If your planning to get 256 of ram (£25) or ($45)

Radeon 9500 Pro: 128 Meg ($90) 64 Meg ($70)

In total thats $135/$115.

Now, there is NO WAY in my opinion that you will get a good gaming processor for that amount of cash, unless its worse than the one you\'ve got, but you can search...

ok so my friend has this problem with his cd burner/software and so far all i know is that he gets a speed error message when burning cds. he can burn 1 or 2 cds but then after that the burner gives him a message saying slow down your burn speed and all of the cds fail after that. he installed another cd burner and both burners did the same thing. he slowed down both to 4x and has tried many different programs. i have not even looked at this computer so this is all i can tell you about it. just wondering if it sounds like a software issue maybe a driver? or a hardware issue so as to maybe figuring this out. any help at all would be appreciated.

I think its a hardware issue, not speficially the burners but the heat, burning CD\'s make a lot of heat on your comp and MAYBE its heating up too much so your motherboard gives you that message to try and cool down some of the componants.

I am trying to get my computer well running for the sims 2 I will worry about the freezing problem later...

So here\'s the specs for the sims 2
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:
2.0 GHz processor or better
256 MB RAM if Windows XP, Windows ME, Windows 98, or Windows 2000
At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space

okay now in order for me to Run The Sims 2 to WELL not EXCELLECENT just WELL OR EVEN SMOOTH...what else do I need to do:

So far I am doing the following

1. Upgrading to 9600 pro
2. Getting more memory/ ram (whatever you wanna call it) 256 stick

Now if your going to recomned me something please don\'t give me some crazy gamig thing just give me a good inexpensive one also....
i didn\'t tell you but this is THE ONE game I will play on my computer
so if that makes a differnce before you tell me something thank you

What size of Hard Drive does he have, and you\'ll probably need to upgrade to a 1.5 Ghz processor or better, but by doing that you\' might need a new motherboard if the one you have isnt capable of going that high.

EDIT:www.cpuid.com, Mega could you ask him to download that and post the log?
