First off, I agree with Hollow, although I don\'t know about that \"Southerner\" thing (yes I know it was a joke, I\'ve just heard it more equated with little old stuck-up or religious ladies then with people from any certian state (jokingly)).

Second, censorship should not exist. \"Lyk, OMG they shotted her nd they sexx0rzd in |>4 shooooow!!!!oneone!!\" Why can\'t kids watch sex? Either they know what it is, so it\'s okay, or they don\'t know what it is, so it won\'t hurt \'em. Why do they have to hide? (Note: This is a rhetorical question :P) Video games don\'t cause senseless violence, mental instability causes senseless violence, it\'s not like the kid doesn\'t know that guns can kill people if they don\'t play the game.

Asa for the gayness and transvestite and all that, yeah, we all know there\'s WAAAAAAAAAAAYY to many prejudists against that, so I don\'t know what their problem is. But just \'cause you don\'t like them, doesn\'t mean they can\'t be on TV, they exist in real life, so they should be in stories. We have rapists on TV, don\'t we?

I know America is more worried about sex and gayness and random other things being censored then Europe, but then in Japan porn is ILLEGAL, even full showing in cartoons. And thankfully, America, unlike most countries who might be involved in a discussion about this, doesn\'t have the, \"OMG you said \'period\' in public!!!,\" preogative, nor has it have the common, \"I\'m better then you because I make more money, and you must RESPECT ME!!!!!,\" which is really not, of course, respect, but the person saying, \"I\'m better then you, and I don\'t respect anyone at all, so you must do what I say.\" Although we do have people like that. I don\'t know if a lot of countries have that, but I know Japan and England do, although the England one is more along the lines of, \"You have to hold your glass the right way, or we will all hate you!\" I couldn\'t imagine going to a country where people acted like that. (Although, I want to go to Japan anyway, but I have to, \'cause I like anime :P).

And the \"3vil\" thing... well that happens everywhere. But no countries have that view.

To the_dreamer and Shadowfire, this topic is about the countries. You have to make generalizations sometime, and not only that they are quite often true. But it\'s not stereotype unless you meet an individual, let\'s say, American, and expect them to act that way. And there\'s nothing wrong with it unless you\'re saying ALL people with a certian trait have the other, and not when they are the same thing (for instance, all Christian have a religion... is not a stereotype). Nobody ever said that all american, or British people, or whatever, are a certian way.

AirMan, I doubt that\'s true about the army; walking through walls in your physical body is impossible, although they may have people who astral project for them to view what the enemy\'s doing. And they probably have some sort of psychics on them somewhere, most government divisions do (although that\'s a different thing).

[Oh wait, it\'s AirMan again, this paragraph was going to be for that person :P, anyway], your paragraph about England and America with \"witchcraft\" doesn\'t make sense. You said Britian executed people for \"witchcraft,\" then you said America doesn\'t do that anymore, then you said America is behind. So, whatever you were saying, didn\'t really work. But, since I mentioned this, I\'ll comment on what I can; although there are plenty of people (Americans) who still think witches are \"3vil,\" mostly bewcause they don\'t know what witches are, Paganism isn\'t really looked down upon by most Americans anymore, the only religion which still has a highly negative reaction like that is Satanism, and that\'s because the ones who do this think the Satan they are dedicated to is the same Satan as the one in the Christian or the one in the Jewish religion.

Anyway, if you think something is 3vil, or bad... well I guess that\'s your problem (or in some cases a good thing). But that doesn\'t mean it should be taken out of books.

Well, if someone tries to hold a glass upside-down and still tries to drink out of it, would you want to be seen dead with them? We respect a certain level of intellegance, here.

The fact that it\'s impossible is exactly why they try to do it! One person said that they actually did it once. If it is true, I wouldn\'t be surprised.[quote]

Actually, I am perfectly aware that America doesn\'t execute people suspected of being witches anymore! I meant their behind as they still believe in humans weilding magical powers; which is why they are feared.

Tha\'s EXACTLY the sort of thing I\'m talking about! Admittantly, I wasn\'t talking about them taking it that far, but that makes even worse, wouldn\'t you agree?

Hi!

Now, first of ll, some of you may find this topic inslting. For that, I apologise, but I have soe queeries on Americans in general. If you are American, please tell me your view on the issues raised in this post.

Now I\'ve got tha out of the way, on with the post.

First thing, why is it that with an american film/music video etc, it can have as much killing (shooting, stabbing etc.) as it can fit, but absolutely NO drag whatsoever (men dressing as women). Remember the video of \"I want to break free\" by \"Queen\"?

Another thing, adults don\'t worry about letting their kids take guns to school, but they should worry about letting them watch Harry Potter? It\'s only magic and before you even bother to try and trouble me with all that \"It\'s satanic and therefore against my religion\" bullshit, just tell me where exactly it says that they all worship Bielzibub? Magic isn\'t nesessarily evil.

I\'m just throwing my opinion in and splitting. America is a slump. Bush has no CLUE what is needed by the people, because he\'s a rich old fart. We NEED someone leading our country to bring us out of poverty, because as far as I\'m concerned, POVERTY CAUSES VIOLENCE. People have nothing to look forward to, so they don\'t look forward at all. Bunch of friggin\' drunks and stoners.... Glad I live in Maine, where the Coppers aren\'t always running amok after dopers and shit.

As for the Potter gig.... I don\'t know, Me-tinks da whole contaversy over it is STUPID. Books are good though, :D

You have just been ranted out.

Oh, and if all works well, I\'m moovin ta France when I can. Au revoir!

Vive la France, eh? I agree. Anywhere can be better than America. Slowly, Britain is turning into America Jr. It still retains its touch with reality, but I fear it losing it the way America did. I want to stay closer to Europe than America. I want political closeness of our nations to be reletive to our Geographical closeness.

We\'re drifting further offtopic. If you know anymore instances where less seriouse things are regarted with hte most importance (ie, Cussing is bad, killing is not so bad), then please share them.

Please. Refrain from such stupidity. America has problems, yes. However, there are very many great things about this country.

My Grandfather did not fight in WWII so I would have to listen to a bunc of people whining about why America sucks.

And as God is my wittness. I will not.

Sigh, my uncle was in Vietnam, when he came back 9 months later, nobody appreciated him. Did he get a veteran parade?! no! Did he get immortalized?! no! And I hate taking Crap that America isnt good! My uncle fought for this country, so it must be a great important country! (He joined the army because he wanted to, not draft)

I didn\'t read everything yet, but AirMan, your post on witches or \"withces,\" I wasn\'t saying you were stupid, I know you don\'t think they still execute people for being accused of witchraft in America, I was just saying the way it was worded didn\'t excactly make sense, and, except for the part I commented on, I\'m not really sure what you were trying to say.

My grandfather, who came from Italy, fought in WW2 just so I could be here today to say how much America sucks.

Meaning..he fought so we/I could have freedom, and I am celebrating my freedom to say that America is not working for its people. It is not perfect and never will be. But really, it\'s quite down low right now, and I believe people have some sort of freedoms to bitch about the place they live in, the democracy, we the people, you know. We\'re not all mindless goverment drones.

Anyways.. \"Why can\'t kids watch sex? Either they know what it is, so it\'s okay, or they don\'t know what it is, so it won\'t hurt \'em. Why do they have to hide?\" I personally wouldn\'t let a child of mine watch sex on tv. Depending on how old the kid is..I mean, at 14 you really shouldn\'t care anymore, and let your kids delve into the glory of porn. What? It\'s better than going out and knocking up a little floozy at the age of 15. But yeah, any younger than that, and I wouldn\'t let them watch it. Call me crazy, but I would want my child to live a full childhood, not like alot of these bastard children nowadays running around with THONGS and short shorts that say \"SEXY!\" on the aft end. Ten year olds shouldn\'t be into sex, at least I think so.

*sigh* This isn\'t about politics, this isn\'t about porn. Nor the age it should be viewed at. My \"witch\" post was supposed to highlight the believe in witchcraft and magic. How it\'s still feared, and people still think others are witches. People still kill, justifying it by saying \"They were posessed. The voice in my head told me so.\" People still go into places holding crosses at \"vampires\".

Anywhere could be better than America to escape the insanity. To think about priorities. To think about things that really matter. To think \"Hang on, I\'m visiting Transylvania but I still haven\'t been killed by Dracular!\" or \" I\'ve read MacBeth and I\'ve not been killed by witches\" or even \" I\'ve said the Lord\'s Prayer Backwards and I\'ve still not been posessed\".

I\'m quite sure there some beautiful places in America, and indeed, I\'m sure it can be a wonderful place to live. That\'s not what I meant. It\'s not the country that I\'m talking about, it\'s some of the people.

I\'d like to correct some facts in this thread. Porn is not illegal in Japan. Porn showing pubic hair is illegal in japan. Japan has a 24/7 porn channel.

The majority of the people who hear voices are schizofrenic. The reason they say that God told them to do it is that the voices in their head are projections of what they believe to be true, projections of their, \"self,\" if you will. Try not to blame christianity or any other religion on these people. Not that anyone has, I\'m just sending out a warning.

I personally think that The U.S. is just a country of ignorance. If people would be educated, they wouldn\'t be so crazy, excepting those who have chemical disorders who need medication. Of course you can\'t force people to be educated without a tyrranical regime, which America is not.
