I still hate the DS catchphrase....even though its been like 4 months, I still think the DS is trying to compell me to do something wrong....

Great idea! Don\'t buy the better system, just because the catchphrase is asking you to touch it. It\'s a little innappropriate, sure, but I\'m sure it\'s just for a joke.

The DS slogan is excuseable, but \"Feel the Magic\"? come on. That\'s just nasty.

And here people have been calling Nintendo a kiddie company.

Buy anyways, I just normally ignore catchphrases. They\'re normally pointless little things that don\'t have anything to do with the product.

Okay, here\'s the deal, I\'ve played both the DS and the PSP. In all honesty, that is in my opinion, the PSP is a better system, although the battery life is short, and the price is high. Admittedly, the system is delicate, but if you take just the slightest bit of care in handling the thing, you\'ll have no problems, also, it\'s not as if you can\'t plug it into a car socket, so, yes, you can take it on long car trips.

Addressing the \"is it a gimmick\" argument, I guess you could say that the MP3 is a gimmick, however, it does not effect game play, that is the difference. Therefore, I stand by my argument that the touch screen is a gimmick.

However, if the touch screen floats your boat, and you don\'t want the PSP, don\'t buy it, I can\'t force my opinions on you. I can only state that which I feel.

And you really want a wire going past the driver and getting in the way of the gear stick. If you have a battery in your system, wouldn\'t you like to use it every once in a while? Granted, I tend to plug my DS in anyway (that\'s because I have an extension running behind my sofa and it\'s convieniant) but if I wanted to, I could play all day, practically, but I choose not to.

And if I am going to pay that kind of money on something like that, I expect it to be made to a high quality where it is hard to break it even if drop it on the floor. Not to be fragile like that. I don\'t expect to have to care for it as if it were a new born baby.

And how much money do they think the avarage gamer has? I would like to see them make a profit from this. I say good luck to them, for I won\'t be helping them.

Okay, here\'s where I stand on the gimmicks. Both systems are relatively gimmicky, I\'ll give both sides that. But there\'s one thing I think really defines a gimmick: worthlessness towards a device\'s main use. And the DS and the PSP are both GAMING SYSTEMS. They\'re meant to play games, not movies or MP3s or things like that. While the touch screen is a gimmick, it can be used to enhance the way you play games, making them more interesting and/or fun. But the MP3 and movie playing features of the PSP don\'t affect the way you play games in the least. They just sap battery power. And if you want to watch a movie, why use such a small screen? I\'ve seen portable DVD players in the price range of $100-150 (not sure exactly). You could buy a DS and still have enough or nearly enough to buy a portable DVD player with a larger screen.

Exactly. Plus, there are portable CD players that can play MP3 files on a CD that cost around £40 ($80). The CDs are fairly cheap and if you buy Winamp (not the free one), you can get a thing to change CDs into MP3s. You can fit around 200 MP3s on a CD so you can carry your whole CD collection around on just a few CDS! What\'s the problem?

So why do you need a really expensive game system when the alturnatives are much cheaper?

I heard that the PSP was really good and not to bother with the DS cause it sucks compared to it. so i think in the future (like when the price goes down a few hundred dollars) i\'ll buy it :P

What about the DS sucks it has good games and they are getting better like FF III Lunar DS, The New Mario, Metroid, Final Fantasy CC, Mario Cart DS, Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, Mario and Luigi 2, Animal Crossing DS.... come on those are all looking like Great games what does psp have baseball football baseball again basketball racing...it has a couple good games like Breath of Fire III but that could also come out on DS and that FF VII Advent children, but smart money tells me that\'ll be out on DVD, also Metal Gear Acid but MG the card based game come one now. See the drew back of PSP is that a lot of PSP games can come out on DS but it\'s a lot harder for a DS game to to be ported to PSP because of the touch screen.

I was reading in popular Science that people are so fed up at the lack of updates for the PSP from Sony that they are inventing their own programs.

Yeah! There are so many consoles today, and most of them work alike!

Sorry, but this was the most general PSP topic I could find to ask this question. :P Does anyone know a good size to design wallpaper for download onto a PSP? Is it the same as the default size of a PC moniter or is stretched?
