These are some things I heard from people about the PSP. I heard it\'ll be somewhat $200 or less. It\'ll be like a Walkman. It\'ll be able to play \"PSP TV Channels.\" And It\'s wireless range is further than the DS\'s.

It\'s coming out March 24 in North America. It will cost $249 US and $299 Canadian. It comes with a 32mb memory stick duo, wrist strap, a case, a remote, and I think headphones but I\'m not sure. It also comes with Spiderman 2 on a USB disc. Also I think it comes with a demo disc.

As for what I think about the PSP...I think the DS kills it by alot. I don\'t see what\'s so great about the PSP. Most of its launch titles are sports games which I don\'t like but others must see something in them. I think the only reason the PSP sold so well is because of it\'s loyal PS2 Grand Theft Auto players.

It will be something like this:

\"Hey Dad? This PSP you got me-\" Zzztt- (Battery dies.) \"Oh man, I just put those new batteries in two minutes ago!\"

I would stick with the DS, myself. XD

Yes, but they only have a life of about 5 hours before you have to recharge them. And when you watch a movie, make that about 2 hours...

My solution: get neither and wait for the Tapware Zodiac. Screw Nintendo\'s love of kiddie games and Sony\'s love of innovation, THIRD PARTY ALL THE WAY!!!

That\'s Tapwave. And dear god I hope you\'re being sarcastic.
The Zodiac Tapwave is already around, but you won\'t find it in normal gaming stores; this is a problem that made the N-gage sink-- exclusitivity. In addition to this, we have yet another system trying to integrate too much functionality into a device meant for gaming.
Due to this exclusitivity, developers will not want to produce many games; thus, a lack of software leads the ZT to become another mediocre handheld combatant. Even if the core idea the ZT is based around seems appealing, one can almost guarantee there will be no \'hits\' or classics for gamers per se.

I have heard so many people pick on this thing over battery life and I believe them a good friend of mine on another board bought this and said he returned it an hour later.

Okay, let\'s look at what Electronic Gaming Monthly found out about the battery life of the PSP.

\"2.5 hours playing UMD movies
3 to 6 hours playing games\"

The DS, on the other hand, has \"6 to 10 hours playing games\".

In other words, the DS has nearly twice as much battery life (playing games), meaning you have to charge it half as often.

In addition to the worrisome battery-life we have other concerns such as:

-durability issues
- the need to constantly purchase expensive memory sticks
-the square button responsitivity issue
-UMD discs flying out of the PSP when twisted
-open face high-res screen that will be easily ruined by a grain of sand

As far as PSP and DS go... I like the PSP just for the look and graphics... but Nintendo always makes way better games.

So far both look like the suck though. None of the games on either systems already out or even announced look very fun... and Nintendo\'s lastest \'think outside the box\' deal bugs me. I don\'t want to bang on drums, I don\'t want to scratch at a tiny screen with a stick, I don\'t want to sing. I want a controller. Just a plain simple controller and some nice sprite animation. I\'m sticking with a GBA, chaps.

So..... none of this better graphics, memory, battry life deal. I already have one, it plays fine.

This is true my friend tested this stuff and it\'s all true like Zaleon said.

And let\'s not forget about the dead pixels on the PSP screen...Sony can\'t do something right the firts time, eh?

No. And like anything else Sony, it\'s £100 more expensive than the main competitor. It\'s no better, either.

I have a DS and I can tell you, it\'s better than anything I\'ve ever seen in the Play Station series.

I can also tell you that it hasn\'t been selling well. Shops have been buying 100s in, but only selling around 50 of them.

I think it\'s safe to say that the DS is better for games and will always be regarded as the better.

Good thing about the DS is that you charge the battery for 4 houres and get 10 houres of play from it. As opposed to the 2 houres from the PSP.

That would be for the DS or the PSP? As far as the DS is concerned, it\'s been out for a few months already so the stores can now have the stock they want to (no more shortage).

Regardless of any issues with the PSP, the DS is too gimmicky for me. Like Gutter said, I don\'t want to scratch on a screen with a stick. Plus there are products out that extend the PSP\'s battery life, it\'s a small cradle with its own battery, so when the PSP runs out, it takes over. There are small protective films that you can put on the screen. Addressing the game issue, I\'m sure that more games will be released for the PSP, cmon give em some time, it takes time to learn all that new programming. The problem with the DS is that all the games are about the gimmick, the stylus screen, and as we all know, gimmicks are the suck. So before you persecute the poor sony people, take a look at how much better the PS2 was than the cube. Don\'t give me your nintendo fanboy argument either, all of you know that the PS2 was way more powerful and had a much better game library than the cube could ever have.

PS2 was more powerful? How the hell did you work that out? The graphics were little better than the N64 and it takes twice as long to read off the disc!

Also, for some reason, you can expect to pay up to three times the amount of the main competetor just because it has the name \"Sony\" on it. And it doesn\'t stop at the PSP! TVs! CD Players! Laptop computers! Everything!

Don\'t say that the PS2 was better than the Cube, as I have played on the PS2, the Game Cube and the Xbox, and I can say from experience that the Cube beats them all!! (Not for the same reasons, though)

Gimmick? The stylus with the touch screen is a gimmick? Well, for one thing, it acts as an analogue joy-stick, and they have been around for a long time. As have maps on the side of the screen. When you think of it, so have styli. The idea has been used on PDAs for a long time.

A protective film for the screen and a cradel to make the battery last longer? And all this on top of the £270!!? If you truely think this is worth it, you really need to think over it some more.

What you said about the game library. Sony bought out the market. No store near me have ever sold Game Cube games. That is exactly what Microsoft did to becore the Number 1 software company. The only other alturnative would be to allow the companies who make programs that work win their rightful place at the top of the market. Are you saying that Microsoft are the best company in existance just because they cheated to the top of the computer market? Because that\'s what you\'re saying about Sony.

And that\'s not all, Nintendo always makes sure that EVERYTHING works fine before releasing a new console/handheld. Unlike Sony which loves to leave tons of defects and fix them when ppl start complaining about them. And of course, they expect us to waste another 200+$ to get the \"new version\"...worse thing is, there are A LOT of persons who do that.

Bottom line: Sony thinks they\'re in the computer game market or something.

I think we are ALL underestimating the price of this PSP. For me to buy it with our extortionate British prices, the cheapest price I\'ve seen it is £270 GBP, which is around $510.41 USD. Pricy piece of junk, isn\'t it?

I know they must have made the deal a little sweeter here in America... I believe that one here, with no extra software, costs about 200$ (still expensive). However, I\'ve heard that, to max out your playing experience, you have to buy loads of software. I\'m going with the DS (maybe the PSP later if by some cruel twist of fate MegaMan games are released on it), because all of the new features look very innovative. I really doubt using two screens is as hard as people imagine it is. My little cousin does just fine with his DS.

... Vampires and a bunch of nice looking RPGs are coming out on the PSP though...
