This should be the official topic of the Nintendo revolution, not too much is known about this next generation gaming experience, but what is known is that it now supports standard size dvd games and is backwards compatible with gamecube, it comes with wireless wi-fi for wireless internet connection straight out of the box, and online play is totally free unlike x box live.

this is a mock up Video of the revolution. it is made my some unknown person or unknown people.

So many rumors have showed up until now, most of them hinting at some radical change. I'm really curious to see how different this new console can be, while it would still be able to play GameCube games! Nintendo said that they would make a more official unveiling a week or two after the end of E3... Should be interesting.

I really look forward to seeing what this system can do. I was really impressed by the Gamecube's performance, so, I can't imagine the leaps that will be made with this machine.
Now, let's hope nobody comes in here and blows it by only posting "wtf! Nintendo sucks, I don't like it, lolz!11one!1", as they tend to do.. x.o

I've heard it'll be tiny. One lady form Nintendo said it will be no bigger that three DVD cases stacked on top of each other. I'm thinking that they're aiming for a more redone PS2 design.

Sorry, just had to Shadowfire. ^^;;

I am glad to hear that there will be another Nintendo System. I never liked the Gamecube too well. It just wasn't too revolutionary for me. >.<;

I, being a fierce Nintendo loyalist, will most definitely purchase the glorious Revolution videogame system the moment it is released to the public. Long live Nintendo!

If only the actual system could be like that mock up video...

I'm so happy with the gamecube at the moment, I couldn't care less about the new system. I'm tired of things becoming "obsolete" just a few years after spending so much money on them. It sounds really cool, but geez, I'm not made of cash! I have more important things to worry about. Like rent. (And the ridiculously rising gas prices.)

Wow. That video, except for maybe the last minute, was completly pointless. Really, tell me the point of all the billions of tiny Peach castles forming a big Peach castle. What did they do to Mario? He looks like a crack addict.

It looked kind of good I suppose. Burning dvds, all that riff-raff, looks nice, but I bet it's gunna cost a buttload of money to buy.. I am a pessimist. I really do like the backwards compatible feature though. Good job Nintendo.

So, does the thing go on your head? I didn't really grasp the whole 'Revolution' plot. Ha ha... so you don't buy controllers anymore, just helmets? Plus, did it have a thing where if you walk around it does so in the game? It seemed like that. I don't know how much evil I can twart walking around blind in my room.

Anyway.. I can't really judge on much until I see the games.. If you keep an open mind it could be really rad I suppose. But still, I really think a revolution was uncalled for. I'm still not digging the DS and it's touch screens, the bongos, or microphones (said this before). I really am just most confortable with a controller.

If it really does have free wireless internet connect, I'll kick all you guys asses in SSBM.

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention; I am a jackass.

Hey gutter that was not a real video it was a mock video. the real revolution will have wireless controllers very small about the size of 3 dvd cases stacked on top of each other. no one yet knows what the "revolution" will be , but tomorrow at E3 the but N will show and tell, I'll guess at about 6pm CST. so I'll update you all as soon as I get the information. I have the specs on the xbox 360 and the ps3 I'll post them all side my side tomorrow after noon and tell you what all that stuff will mean in terms of gameplay and looks, to the best of my ability

Sorry about this being a double post and all but Nintendo hit me with a HUGE letdown today....at today's press conference they didn't tell one real thing about the revolution, and how it will be revolutionary. The only new things we know is that you can download ALL old school Nintendo games NES SNES and N64 and play them. lets see Nintendo said it'll be "two to three times as powerful as the gamecube" with is another letdown seeing that Sony said that the PS3 is around 30 times as powerful as the PS2 and Xbox 360 is around 15 times as powerful as normal X box.

ok well as I promised you I'll give you the specs of the ps3 and xbox 360 and the run down

Processor: PS3: 3.2GHz Cell w/ 7 SPEs 2.18 TFLOPS
Xbox 360: 3.2GHz G5 w/ 3 Cores 1.0 TFLOPS

The Break down: Ok I'm not totally sure of this Cell processors power but it's said be be able to be clocked at 5GHz while the xbox with it's 3 core G5 process will stay aroun that given 3.5 GHz range. the TFLOPS are how many dots can be shown a second 2.18 T flops = 2.18 billion dots a second while the xbox 360 is trapped at 1 billion a second.

The winner: Clearly PS3

Memory: PS3: 256MB XDR @ 3.2GHz 256MB GDDR3 @ 700MHz
Xbox 360: 512MB GDDR3 @ 700MHz 10MB Embedded DRAM

Break down: this would be almost a tie had it not been for the PS3 using XDR ram which is the most advanced ram that can be use I believe. there is not going to be a clear cut winner in this department because most differences will be minuscule. The only differences you'll really see is faster game play on the PS3 because it does not have to share ram with the processor, so games will run slightly smother.

Winner: it's hard to call at this time because it'll really boil down to how games are devolved but at this time PS3

GPU: PS3: 550MHz NVIDIA
Xbox 360: 500MHz ATi

Break down: both are going to be bad a$$ but I must admit that this is not a real area of expertise if you go by speed PS3 seems to have an edge again but I don't know how that'll play out.

winner : tie ( because I just don't know)

Best Display: PS3: 1080p Standard Dual Screen Output
Xbox 360: 1080i Optional Single Screen Output

Break down: ok this is where things get a little interesting, the PS3 is going to have 1080p High def standard on all games, now that is the most high definition that you can get in fact I've never even see a TV in my city that has progressive scan....but it shows that Sony is looking to the future, x box also going for high def just not quite as extravagantly as PS3. I believe you should be able to play both on standard and HD TV's but when you get on HD you should be able to see the difference.
PS3 can be hooked up to two side-by-side HDTV's to projecting video in a 32:9 extra-wide screen format (think Cinemascope in your living room). Like a gigantic version of the Nintendo DS, the dual digital outputs also allow for an extended game display, with the action on one screen and either game information or video chat on the second. while the xbox has one screen

Winner: clearly PS3

Network: PS3: 1000BASE-T Ethernet Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
X Box: 100BASE-TX Ethernet Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g

Break down: wireless internet but the ps3 also comes with Ethernet ports I don't know abotu the X box they didn't say.

Winner: you know what I'll give it to x box 360 because they need it

Wireless Input: PS3: x7 on Bluetooth 2.0
Xbox 360: x4 on 2.4GHz RF

Break down: the PS3 can support up to 7 controllers and that is always fun X box 360 4

Winner: Ps3

Storage: PS3: Removable HDD *Size TBA
Xbox 360: Removable HDD 20GB

Break down: The PS3 has not given a clear cut answer to the question "will the PS3 come witha HDD" Xbox 360 however did

Winner at this time X box

Release: PS3: Spring 2006
Xbox 360: November 2005

Break down: << the time it'll be released

Winner: X box 360 but the dreamcast also won this race

Dimensions PS3: About 13.5" x 3.25"
XBox 360: About 10.25" x 2.5"

Break down: how big they are

Winner: strangely X box

Over all winner: PS3 it's seems like it'll be the powerhouse of them. Sony although sometimes screwes up a new game system, let's just hope they learn from past mistakes.

on I know that had nothing to do with the revolution but I didn't want to make another topic

Got a few things to comment out in that sentence:

- Nintendo said that the main, juicy details about the Revolution will come out a few weeks AFTER E3. You'll have to wait a bit more!
- I don't think they said that you could download ALL of the older games: I would expect this to work on Nintendo's own games only, and maybe some third-party titles. Also, this could be a paying service... Licensing issues could be hard to solve for them.
- Don't believe the Sony marketing crap: it comes out with every new system they do, and it's wrong most of the time. ("The PS2 can render Toy Story in real time", anyone?)

My main point here: wait until we know a bit more before being let down: we didn't even see the controller of that console yet!

Well, all I can say about any of the new systems: It's about time that they have online play and have it free.

No controllers for the Revolution? Helmets, eh? Virtual Boy anyone?

Downloading older games seem too good to be true... There gotta be a catch. I agree with the Doctor, you probably have to pay for a subscription. I bet most of these older games already have re-release collection games. Just getting more money from previous hits...

I don't play Nintendo's system game. They come out with a system every two years it seems... I'll wait until it gets cheap... That's the same with the PS3. There's no rush to me.

I'm hoping to see some old games you can't find these days in that download list. I might just subscribe if it does have them (if subscription is necessary and you don't need a credit card. My family doesn't have one).

But I'm having a very hard time believing Sony. "Thirty times more powerful"? Please, even if it is, it's probably counting every single tiny thing that's been improved. I'm betting that the Doc's right on that subject.

As for the next XBox, a fifteen time increase seems to be stretching it to me (since the XBox was the most powerful system last time). If it is that much more powerful, it's probably going to be one of the most expensive consoles in a very long time.

EDIT: And it's not going to be a helmet, Breakman. It's already been cleared up that the thing in the video wasn't the real deal. If you were joking, just ignore this.

If any of you have seen the Tech Demos for the PS3 then you will understand how strong this little bugger is. the games they have shown look FAR better than anything Xbox 360 has done. but I REALLY hope the Revolution can keep up with the others. I mean I don't want nintendo to be in 3rd place again, I'm a diehard nintendo lover, and I have been dating back to the NES. I just really hope they don't screw up somehow...

Update: I have been doing a little poking around and I have made an interesting discovery. The Nintendo ON video might be real after all. At The Nintendo Press conference yesterday Nintendo reps made several references to the left and right side of the brain, And if you’ll remember how they called the main pert of the system the brain in the video referring to the left and right side one for making games and the other for playing. Also they showed a clip of a new Metroid game that looked almost exactly the same as the one from the video. A new Mario was also announced. The first half of the video that people thought had nothing to do with the rest of it might actually be because fo the backwards compatibility with every Nintendo system ever....this could all sound like crap to you guys but it seems like it could actually be real
I honestly believe that they have something big planned they are just not telling us yet

There's been some info released! I found it on Toys 'N' Joys. It's not much, but includes pictures of the systems. And from the sound of the things, in terms of size, this things going to the Gamecube to shame. Just read the thing. It shouldn't take long.

That will probably only be used for GameCube games: the Revolution titles will be built with something different in mind.

The neat side effect is that we will probably be able to find brand new GameCube controllers for years to come. That's great when your current controllers become too worn down or broken!

the awesome thing about the nintendo revolution is that it allows you to play ANY and EVERY game nintendo designed in the past, meaning, super mario bros, here i come :P haha, but the graphics i hear are pretty good, and you can only get some really awesome games for it, but i'd have to say that i like the PS3 better. it looks really good. But yea, nintendo revolution looks pretty sweet
