I don\'t get it. I thought that in the Jap games: MegaMan is RockMan, Bass is Forte and ProtoMan was BreakMan. But all of you are saying that ProtoMan is Blues (I hope that\'s spelt right). So who is BreakMan?:conf:

Protoman is called Blues in Japan not Breakman. Breakman is what Protoman was called in MM3, why? Ask Capcom for the minor confusion.

Protoman started out as Breakman in MM3. Capcom just made him look more human than another Sniper Joe and renamed em. I call it modification of Robots and design.:miam:

Protoman\'s japanese name is Blues. Breakman was a cheap copy of Protoman in one of the NES Megaman games, I\'m not sure which. You can actually tell that Breakman isn\'t Protoman, because of a few color mess-ups that Capcom put in on purpose. So ha.

I thought Protoman was called Breakman in MM3, to disguise his identity to doc light. Then when he saved Megaman and whistled in Dr Light\'s lab, he reveleved himself as Protoman, not Breakman, because Light reconised his whistle.

Yeah, for whatever reason Protoman decided to use the alias Breakman when he first encountered Megaman in MM3. It was probably to hide his identity from Light.

Was Proto working for Wily at the time or was there another reason for his attacking Megaman?

Ok, here\'s the deal with Blues. You all should know before MM1 when Wily was still with Light, Blues disappeared from the lab because of an accident. Well later, Wily fixed a glitch in his system because he knew Blues\' systems. I\'m guessing helping Wily was a way to repay him since Wily saved Blues\' life. Now during MM3, he was called Breakman because when you heard that wistle, he came. You either fought him or you didn\'t, but either way, he ended up breaking up something that was blocking your way, hince Breakman. Now the fight with Breakman before the Wily Stages is indeed Blues with a little mask thingy. At the end, you all know what happens, Dr. Light fills you in with the info on Blues. Now Blues was with Wily up until the end of MM4, when he rescued Kalinka. Now after MM4, Wily felt betrayed and wanted revenge on Blues. So he framed him with Darkman. Of course this didn\'t work as Blues revealed who Darkman was. My guess is Bass was created after the defeat of Darkman because Wily had a robot just like Rock on his side, Blues. So instead of trying to make an imposter or recruiting Blues, he start on a new project during and before MM6 but after MM5. Now Forte was created on accident when Wily was trying to build a clone of Rock. The element Bassinum gave his the edge and Forte was born during MM6. Get it? And that\'s the story of Blues\' name. Note I just like to use the japanese names.

I actually don\'t have proof. It \'s just a theory I heard. So is the whole Bass being created during MM6, but all points point to it.

Wasn\'t there a game that showed Zero AFTER Bass defected from Dr. Wily? Just curious, but I think that\'s why he made him...just a thought....

That, and Zero was Wily\'s ultimate revenge. It is said by many a person that Zero was the orginal carrier of the Sigma virus, then known as the Zero virus. It was his ultimate revenge- he planned to destroy all the robots because if he couldn\'t take over the world, he would take it down with him. That, and He wanted to get rid of Dr. Light\'s latest project, Megaman X. X wasn\'t ffected by the virus because he was buried by all of that rubble and was no longer wired to Dr. Light\'s system, thus making viral infection impossible.

...and it goes on from there. Well, then, I hope that satiates most of you people out there. Mind you, it\'s just a theory.....

Actually, Wily did want Zero to destroy Bass after the Power Fighters. But not even the manga explained what happened.

My theory is that Zero killed the original cast, except for Auto (who\'s alive and well in 21XX, as seen in MMX3 on the PSX.), after Wily\'s last defeat, were Wily, obiously died. (A activation seqence for Zero, on Wily\'s death seems likely.)

Just a theory, remember.

I\'m not sure if Zero was responsible for the original cast dying, I admit there is a good chance he was. I just don\'t get why Zero would dormant after killing everyone and not reappear till nearly century later unless Protoman, Megaman, and Bass actually managed to damage him before getting wiped out and whoever found him in 21XX reactivated him.

That\'s exactly it, Zero was damaged, but he killed them. He went into hiding to repair himself, and probably got trapped in a Cave in. Thus to save his energy, he shut himself down, untill he was re-activated a century later.

My theory is that the original cast went in for a final raid on Wily\'s lab. Wily then went and released Zero, and he killed the whole cast. Since his primary function was to kill, he killed Dr. Wily in the process after the rubble fell. its a theory.....

I don\'t know as Bass was with Wily when Zero was being built. And Bass was really puzzled with this new silluhet (which it was at the time) and Wily obviously didn\'t tell anything to Bass about it.

Looks like we got carried from Protoman to Zero...
Anyway,

In the PSX version of MMX3, they had animated sequences to introduce the bosses. In Volt Catfish\'s, he swims by a window underwater, and there\'s a robot inside that looks JUST like Auto.

There are three things that I\'m curious about concerning Protoman.

1) If he is such an older model than Megaman and Bass, how come he often appears to be just as powerful as they are?

2) When Protoman duels with Megaman, is PM just testing his brother\'s strength, training MM, or just trying to prove he\'s the best?

3) When Protoman and Megaman fight is PM really fighting at full power or does he just view it as kind of game and doesn\'t really take it seriously?

1) Protoman was probably based off a more experimental system than Megaman or Bass, so that may be why he seems more powerful.

2) If you\'re referring to MM3, I believe Protoman was working for Wily, and fighting MM as to not arouse suspicion.

3) Hmmm, no clue.
