Is there a major SPAM problem? I honestly can\'t see it. I can see one or two new members acting out of ignorance.

What, exactly, can a \"n00b hunder\" do? Other than flame the hell out of every new member they see? The only REAL n00b hunters are Dr. Cossack, Necro and Breakman. The Staff. Unless you have to power to lock/ban/etc., you can do nothing.

No. If a lot of people to bad things through knowing nothing else, how do you help the problem? You don\'t instantly work out how to punish them. That won\'t help anyone. The answer to this problem, as with many others, is education.

In California, it is illegal for a car with no one in it to exceed 60 mph.
In Iowa, as well as some U.S. cities, it is illegal to transport ice cream cones in one's back pocket

OK, I have scenario for you. It is morning of 30th February (first person to say something is a moron) and this person has just registered. They are making hundreds of new \"help me\" topics in every forum. No Mod is online, it is just this \"n00b hunter\" and the n00b. They are not doing what they should do, they are not putting their requests for help in the right places! But that\'s not all! They are making hundreds of copies of topics that are further back on older pages. Also, they were replying to every topic in chit-chat, starting from the oldest topics. They are trying to be helpful, but they are just annoying the \"n00b hunter\". Now, you tell me, what the hell is a n00b hunter going to do besides directly breaking Rule 4 and flaming the hell out of them? They could give them a link to the rules and the search button, but that\'s about it. Until the real \"n00b Hunters\", the mods (although their job is not to flame new members, but to enforce the rules) will have to deal with the topics and, as the n00b will probably have taken offense at the \"n00b hunter\"\'s flames, and a flame war is what the mod will have to sort out, not an annoying topic. Thanks to your \"n00b hunters\" who have merely elevated a problem rediculously out of proportion.

No. I think that a tutorial is what is needed. A flash game which tests the users knowledge of the rules. Yes, it may be easy to bypass it, but would that not be better? Educating the new member, instead of making enemies out of them.

Well I always think it\'s best to talk the n00bs through the rules, tell them what they\'re doing wrong and how to right themselves.

It\'s only when the n00bs act high and mighty (Spider, Hardman, and Nick cough cough) that I get irritated and fed up, THEN just try to ignore them because honestly, what is the point of trying to help n00bs like them? They are \"above\" the rules in their minds.

I wouldn\'t file Spider into the hopeless section Hollow. At least not yet. He\'s a great deal better than Nick or Fister.

I think the only way to do as Hollow says and ignore them when they are annoying. Not to flame them. Lead by example.

As I said in another topic:

Quote:
Thirdly, n00b hunters? Are you f***ing killing me? Again, I wouldn\'t be talking. \"n00bs\", as you call it, are people too. They are new members who are set out to learn about a message board. They sometimes spam, sometimes they are pretty cool. But they do not deserve a name like that. I mean, newbie yeah, newcomer yes, noob, maybe when are a bad spammer, but n00b? No, thats just mean for the guys. Really annoying people? Just try you best to solve the problem without names. Yes, I have been rude to new members a lot too, but I know now that wasn\'t right.

New members shouldn\'t be flamed for being new members. Give them a chance, maybe if they end up being really bad, we could enforce the rules.

As Airman said, I don\'t think we really have much of a SPAM problem. Although, if it becomes bigger, maybe Doc can stop registering for a little while?
