Okay, put all the hurricane disaster stuff to the side, and whatever other crisis' we're having around the world. I'm not talking about any of that. o.o

What I'd like to ask is..

Is it just me, or is the general attitude of persons 16 and under..really ridiculous? Maybe I just haven't seen any young kid do anything helpful, but they just seem so egotistical. Arrogant. Spiteful. Emotionally unstable.

Yeah okay, I know that puberty brings on stuff like that..but I'm talking about 10 year olds too. They don't respect others, property, law officials.. It's also great when you see a drunk 13 year old hanging out with college kids. And of course I LOVE it when I tell a bratty kid to stop hurting something/hitting something/mouthing off/disrespecting others and the mother/father tells me that I'm not the parent even though I'm acting more like one than they are. What the hell is going on?

Maybe I just live in a bad town, though. Any of you have to deal with anything like this? I know alot of you are around this age, but I'm sure there might be kids at your school that are like this. Or maybe you're like this. :o

I guess it also depends on the country your in. But yeah, even in Europe kids' attitudes are getting worse. I don't know how bad it is right now, cuzz I live somewhere were not many 'socially unstable', usually the more poor people, are. I'm happy because of that, but a lot of those parents should think very carefully if they take kids, or another kid, since many of those people have something like four or five kids sometimes. If you have a kid that can't behave properly, why take another one of that kind? Young kids take over the habits of their older brothers and sisters alot, not that they are that bad, bigger brothers and sisters usually behave better. Usually. But with families like that... I'd just stay away from them.

Like some people would say:
"That's the American way of life, kid. Get used to it."

Well, I simply can't.

this society is really going downwards. everywhere in the world you see kids of 12 smoking, drinking, or even doing drugs . if you ask me we should just ignore them all and in mean REALLY ignore them. don't listen and don't help them. but a counter effect could be that those kids will get more criminal and such.

maybe just put them in a gaint world wide organized army Boot camp

that way they'll learn about disipline and order. plus it is cool to see how the are being tortured by those instructors

Well, that might help...
But actually, if we would just be rid of those kind of people, there would probably be just a few hundreds of millions of people left. Which would mean the world would be much easier to handle, which means we can get rid of our problems with nature, which means...
You get the point about now right?

Yeah, I noticed all the kids at my school are kind of like that. However, I think it's a social habit that ties into a lot of other problems concerning morality that people generalize in today's society.
Of course, I'm not in your same boat with the talking to parents about their kids. I'm only a teenager after all. :P

Let me lay this down:
Kids have experimented with drugs ever since someone huffed something and got a buzz. Same with alcohol, cigs, and sex. It all makes them feel older and more mature.

A lot of kids thing that they are the hot sh-t and that the world owes them something.

I am within the age group that Hollow is talking about. I'm not perfect. I drink alcohol (wine mostly) but I do so responsibly. I don't do major drugs (only do caffine yo) because I need money for other things. I repsect the police and their sevices even though I might not like the individual.

About graffiti....the way I see it is that a public place is a public canvas.

Yea. I agree to that. I would also like to add that one of those problems is the ambiguity of female and male roles in society. Children must change and adapt either from coming home to an empty house after school, being dropped off to a daycare or relative, or etc. This same thing happened during the industrial age. Children had to go to work in huge factories at the age of 6 and up to keep food on the table. They needed to grow up quick and understand responsibility. I think it's the same in these years but the difference is that Children are not forced to "work or die." They are stuck between being responsible of taking care of themselves and still being dependent on the parents. They have freedom, yet they don't. That's the complex of a child.

Of course, there are many other problems that stems out of the ambiguity of roles and parenting. The role of the mother is usually the "second, part-time job" nowadays as females are continually growing in the working force. Who is watching over little Billy during most of the day? To tell you the truth, I worked with many of these kids in Pre-school. Yup, the mentality and personality shapes at the tender ages. Some of these 5 year olds DO go home to an empty house or have their 13-14 year old brother look after them. And to add that, we decided that one of them will just have to wait 'til next year to start Pre-school because of his unruly behavior and bullying. The sad thing is that we had the mother come with him everyday and sit by him during the whole class after the first week of coming alone. The mother seemed pretty helpless on controlling him and had the nerve of saying on day that "He's okay. I think he'll be fine by himself." Nope, when she decided to not come anymore, we just sent her a letter and told her not to send him anymore too. It almost seemed to me that this kid didn't even recognized this woman as his mother because he treated her like dirt as with almost all the adults and other children.

I truly feel that mothers have a big part in shaping how children come out. I also believe that it is also the father's responsibility to also be there to enforce the idea of a "Ying and Yang" world. A child without balance is a child without peace within. Usually a child will not need discipline if they understand their place and what is right and wrong early.

It can also be chemically why children act the way they do now. I know a lot of parents who feed their children candy and chocolate at early ages. Sugar may have an impact later in the children's lives...

Ugh... I could go on and on... Refute my current arguments/examples if you like... Oh come on, they have holes in them other than "it depends on the child." XP

Kids are not being disapines properly! i really hate when they get away with absolutly EVERYTHING, just makes me wanna go over and smack the parents with a broom you know? but i totally agree, kids are getting absolutly discustingly arogant and mouthy, now this may seem to be a VERY strange thing to say, but perhaps the law getting more sereouse about fighting and whatnot has somthing to do with it, i mean back when schoolyard scraps were "boys being boys" you did not see as many kids mouthing off everyone and everything it comes in contact with, thats just my theory but i think it may have a bit of truith to it. things are bad and getting worse as each new generation is raised with less and less disiplin.

EDIT: because i feel i have not made my point as clear as i wanted to (my mistake after i went back and read it a second time.) to justify what i say above i mean mostly that, some kids really DO desrve a royal beating to put them in line, but i am not saying that bigger kids praying on others is a GOOD thing, i am just saying back when it was like that it was less of a problem. at least i am pretty sure it was :conf: if i am completely wrong with this frame of mind please reply and/or pm me with your concerns.

Well Mr Match, I started drinking when I was very young too, but it was wine and such..and I didn't do it to get drunk. Wine has been shown to be beneficial even.. As long as you don't kill your liver or brain I don't see a problem.

But the graffiti thing..it's alright to tag a library, phonebooth, hell even a billboard..just because it's "public property"? Graffiti is usually tasteless or profane in some way, it's not a good way to represent your town for one. Plus, much money is wasted cleaning up these buildings. I'm sure there are plenty of towns which don't care after a while and refuse to clean up, but then there's all this shitty graffiti on the walls. :(

Murals I can understand. Those people get the OK before vandalizing the property.

I'm not saying poorly done tags of "Bush sux" are alright. I mean the expresive stuff you see in parts of New York. There's also some well done peices around the city I'm from, Richmond.

Next time you see a peice of graffiti on a building, in a bathroom stall, or any where else don't look at it like trash, try looking at it like a peice of art (unless it's one of those "X was here" deals, those are a disrace).

HOLY CRAP.

I forgot that point, Wind.

Parents are spoiling the hell out of kids nowadays, and that also leads to these attitudes. They whine and get their PSPs and DVDs, so they get the idea that they can whine for anything and get it.

And yes..that's the deal about the graffiti too. It's mostly a gang thing, or put up by posers..and ALL of them can't paint worth a damn.

It's a shame that there is no solution to this, on a wide scale anyway. I'm part of the 80's generation *hangs head in shame* that's having children now. They're breeding and creating these brats from hell. And well, in my generation we had a relatively good economy and all that jazz so we were spoiled alot. I guess we always learn from our parents...and therefore the 80's parents are spoiling their brats.

Doesn't help that Britney Spears is breeding either. :o

Well, I'm in favor of "the whole hippie thing to let kids express themselves". It's made what I am today in part. For better or for worse.

It would seem to me, that good children aren't rare. They're just uncommon. You just have to know where to look. Like me, for instance. No, I'm not going to call myself a good child. I'm saying that I hang out with...well, better children then we've been talking about, at least. They've got the good moral code, but they don't know how worse it could get. I don't really recall any of them whining too much, though.

Hahah, I'll be 15 on the 9th, but no way in HADES am I like those little punk brats!! I deal with the kind of kids you guys described EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL DAY!!! It drives me loco! I am all for corpral punishment, because parents today do NOT do their jobs. There are so many kids who back talk etc. in Georgia it's not even funny, California as a whole had more civilized kids, and this causes me to regret moving. I had some awesom friends back there, they didn't get into trouble purposely, and they were well behaved. I still had to put up with the idiots, there were still a lot. I thought it was bad when I was there, I just found out I had it good.... Anyway, it mostly depends on where you live, true, but I think it IS the parents fault.

I am witnessing the creation of a menace slowly grow every day---my nephew.. My sister never wants to take care of him, she always makes my mom take care of him. You know how she disciplins him!? She ties him to a high chair and calls it the bad-boy chair. By the time he gets in it, he has no idea why he's there, and he screams his head off cause he's all alone in a corner. She doesn't spank him, and if some one who like me see's that he's being bad, and I spank him, she practically removes my head! He's about 2 right now, and I think that's the most important time to set standards, and she's not doing it. I'll tell you what, when mommy and daddy aren't home, and he's about 6 or 7, acting the way kids do today, I'll set him straight...... I have little tolerance for this kind of thing anymore, and it's gonna end up bringing my grades down, in which will really pee me off, right now, if I keep my grades up, I'll not only have the hope grant, but I'll get all the bonuses that an honor student gets. I am not losing my place in the honor roll over a bunch of wacked up kids(who really need to be wacked) cause they can't stay in line.

Graffiti is almost always written by gangs. They think they're cool or something, always killin other people in other gangs. I think boot camp is just what the kids of today need. If it meant me going too, so be it, it's just another way to better myself. I agree with what everyone's said, and we need to find some way to take care of this problam. These are the people who will lead future generations. We cannot let them grow up being like this.

Heh! I kind of agree. It remindes me of when I was on holiday in Crete. There was this family (British, also on holiday), and there were these arse-hole unminded kids around. One of them was this 7 year-old who thinks the world revolves around him, he is "kewl". My bother and I were playing pool and he was with this other bunch of kids. This kid shines this laser-pen at everything, and into the eyes of everyone around. When he got to my eyes, he pissed me off. I figured the parents weren't contolling him, so I would have to. I jabbed him in the case with the cue, and I tell you, he didn't try it again :P

Mass killing unfortunately can't be the answer to everything.. I mean, would solve alot of problems in a pinch, sure..but there's gotta be repercussions..right?

And not only are the kids who think they're so damn "cool" annoying (there's one or two on this site..*cough* it's sad when they try so hard) but the ones who think they need to overdramatize everything to get noticed aren't great either. I guess they fit under the spoiled category.

I saw a 2 year old boy a while ago in a sports jersey that was way too big for him, a backwards baseball cap, and gold chains. GOLD frikkin CHAINS. The poor kid of course didn't know any better..he was essientially just a baby. I'm sure mommy or daddy just thought he'd look "ghetto". Oh wait, this is supposed to be part of my parents rant.. And how they're letting kids wear thongs..

Yes, sometimes the parents are more wicked then the kids. Some of them let their children drink beer at the age of 4! And that's not even the worst example.
GEN-O-CIDE isn't really the best option here, though it might be a nice #2. Let's just put all those bastards in one big Space Shuttle and sent them off to Mars. Then we are rid of them, and they probably can't survive without us, especially not there. And if they do, well, then they must have adapted to our kind of people, so we can bring them back. IF we want to, that is.

GEN-O-CIDE

I'd like to point out one of the late, great leaders of the last century. While he was not right in how he went about what he did, and for the most part, what he DID do, he had great speaking ability and could rally great numbers to his cause.

He was Adolf Hitler.

If we could ressurect him and Mr. Rogers both... somehow take the reproductive fluids of both and create a bastard child of science and humanity...

We'd be set.

Adolf Hitler does his spin on "Don't hit other kids" [/quote]

All I can say is that I'm glad you aren't a world leader. Killing everyone because they are young and you think the youth is bad isn't a good way to look at it. Yes, there are many bad kids, but if you look at the parents, it's not hard to understand why. What we really need is a way to sterelise bad parents, while keeping good parents child-bearing. That would result in fewer children and the ones that are born wouldn't be such arse-holes (or there wouldn't be as many).

They sold their souls for Rock and Roll

That's the title of a television programme one of my teachers showed us. No, it doesn't have to do a thing with Megaman. It refers to the music, and to the selling of souls-thing.

They showed a piece of text from the Bible, saying that the end of the world will come when humans turn away from God, start worshipping Satan, kill other people for no real reason and so.

It said that many Rock lyrics contained texts that deliberately told people to go kill people for no real reason. The same goes mainly for rappers.
It said that two guys in highschool killed 15 of their fellow students in 1999 in a town called Columbine. In an interview after their arrest you could clearly look at their shirts, which had prints and texts from their favourite German rockband. In one of this band's songs, it is literally described how the guys operated. The members of the band themselves said that their songs "Could never bring people to do things like this". However, as the programme also showed a part of one of their concerts, in which they played that particular song, they sing about killing people and enjoy it to no end.

Then a part about Marilyn Manson came. "The time has come for us to turn away from the facism of christianity and bring it down" he literally says.
Now, at this point I thought: "In what way is christianity facism?"
It just doesn't make any sense.

Also a piece of Eminem came up. In a record called 'Kim', he sung/rapped about how he killed his wife. In it's 'sequel' how he dumped her body into a lake with his 4-year old daughter. And another record is about a fan of his who kills his pregnant girlfriend just like Eminem did to his wife in his song/rap.

They also had an interview with a priest of Satan. He said that they "take them while their young", so that they'll "worship Satan forever" and more of this kind of things. He said that they use music as a weapon of Satan to make people start worshipping him. (note that I didn't capitalized the h in him).
In an interview with members of a rock band, one guy said "your kids have our records, they just listen when you're not there! They listen it in your own car!"

After that, they show us a fifties song, which looks like it's about believing in God, with texts like "Halleluja" "Sweet Lord" and the lot. But after the point that people started to join in the song, "Halleluja" changes to "Hare Krishna" meaning the devil.
This all to make us worship Satan.

They also showed concerts in which things really went wrong, and the songs mainly contained violent and satanic texts. In 1999, 20 people were killed and 68,000 severely injured during these kind of concerts.

After we saw all that, my friend said it was all bullshit, save maybe that those rough bands do all those things and such, but that about Eminem was false. That he has been a racist and such, but that he doesn't rap about those things anymore.
I think many of those things are true. Or at least very, very plausible. Eminem has done those things and was a racist before he went to jail one time or another, and he does it less now. He still does some things that aren't right, or raps about them, but it's much less now.
About those bands, that's something I think is very true. Band members, and Marilyn as well, said that halfway during concerts they felt like a demon took possession of their bodies. My friend said that they just feel like that, that they let themselves be carried away by the music.
Okay, I don't hold the demon-thing for very plausible, but that just shows ever more which way society's going.
