Ya, that is very VERY true about the music. I like rock, but not the lyrics that go with it. therefor I listen to Christian rock! Same sound, different lyrics! The other problam is, people are sheep. When they think something is \'cool\', that\'s their way of saying they just found a new shepherd, and they\'re gonna follow him now! If people didn\'t set bad examples for everyone else to follow, we wouldn\'t have a problam. Music is the one thing everyone listens too. Then there\'s TV. I think more people listen to music than watch tv nowdays. Either way, they both corrupt the minds of those easily corruptible.

Let\'s take little Jimmy as our specimen. Little Jimmy is a lovable, happy child, that everyone likes. He never does bad things, and he always tries to stay away from it. Once we expose him to heavy metal make you wanna jump up and scream music, we start to see drastic changes in little Jimmy. What\'s this? Little Jimmy just wrote something dirty on the bathroom walls! And this? Little Jimmy is smoking weed!! Oh no, now little Jimmy is groping the girls( )!! Uh-oh, looks like little Jimmy just found daddy\'s gun! EEK! Little Jimmy stuffed it in his backpack! Oh my gosh! Little Jimmy\'s at school with the gun..NO DON\'T DO *BLAM!!* it..... *BLAM* *BLAM *BLAM* *BLAM* *BLAM*! Little Jimmy just shot down his entire class! LOOK! He\'s going into the other classes! OH NOOOO!!!

And thus concludes our experiment with little Jimmy. He just liked his heavy metal....

Little Jimmy?
But seriously, if you look for the lyrics texts, you can see what those guys on stage are actually yelling about all the time. Yes, I like RnR, but, like you, not THAT kind. I prefer Cristian, or Elvis.
And what you said with \'cool\' and sheperd things, for the most, they really are true.

Yes, that\'s true, but look at the \'REAL FACTS\': At one guy\'s concert, he sung his \'Break Stuff\' song, and in the end, 2 people were killed, a large area of the city was just vandalised, and a few thousands of people were severely injured. And still he goes on with singing his song at concerts, and people keep on dying and getting injured there.

Okay, now that\'s slightly different, didn\'t that mean the city already had problems to start with?

It could be that a group of troubled people decided to take advantage of situations even if it wasn\'t meant to be a bad situation.

Oh, this is always fun.

Okay, so if you say heavy metal/rock is TEH MUSIC OF TEH DEBIL and makes people KILL...

Then all the stuff they say about videogames making children kill is true as well and videogames should be banned off the face of the earth.

And then people like me come at you with a pitch fork and a picket sign reading \"Bring back the games!\".

You have a point, especially with games such as Back Yard Wrestling! If people were more individualistic(my big word for the day!), we wouldn\'t have as much of a problam, but everyone follows the leader...that kindergarden game should be banned. Think about it, it sets up bad ways of thinking!! Aw yes, if one sheep jumps off a cliff, the others WILL follow. Isn\'t that what society\'s doing?

Exactly.

Music does NOT make kids kill. Neither do games.

Kids ALREADY are messed and will do SOMETHING bad regardless. They just have games like Manhunt trigger their psychotic reactions. Even though Manhunt and Rockstar in general is shit and should burn... But that\'s another topic.

Ya, I knoe everyone possesses the ability to kill. But sertain things drive it outa them. Violent games, music, etc. aren\'t the whole problam, but they don\'t help, either. Another reason kids are killing other classmates and teachers is because they might get picked on a lot, so they wanna even the score, or something. They also think their life sucks and the world owes them something. I know I get picked on a lot by this one kid, and I almost tore him up today in physical fitness...but I regained myself and backed off. He\'s damn lucky I did, too.

Yes, I know. I do. People could already kill before. But if we can prevent things, why don\'t we do it? I don\'t mean to ban all music and all games, just the ones which go over the limits of what should be acceptable. Not to much gore, no songs about going out to intentionally kill people for no real reason.

Okay, going to the point of why games aren\'t always fun: my two younger brothers are nice and kind if you look at the big picture. But lately they\'ve been playing GTA,SA and they\'ve become a lot more aggresive and it doesn\'t do anyone much good. I don\'t say here GTA\'s evil or something, or that it should be banished from the face of the earth, a lot of people make more friends through those games and act less aggresive to other people, cuzz they take it out through gaming. What I mean to say is, that people should think first before doing anything.

That, my friends, is the way. Think first, act later.

No no no no no.

You know...we could use some logic here.

You know...we could do something no one\'s ever thought of before!

We could...make parents DO THEIR JOBS!

o_o

I know it\'s ludicrous.. I know it is unfathomable.. But I think we should make parents be some sort of..rule makers.

You know..they could establish that..their children..under the age of 14..can\'t play extremely violent games! Or watch violent movies, or listen to terrible music!

..yes I\'m being over-overly sarcastic. But I think it\'s utter bullshit when people want to ban something, when they could just prevent their children from playing/watching the damned thing. It\'s like with tv shows..you don\'t like the show? Think it\'s crap? Think the actors suck? Then don\'t watch it and shut up. :o

Same deal here..think it\'s bad for your child? Don\'t buy the damn game you moron!

Wind...this is a family board. Isn\'t it?

Owell, Hollow is absolutely right, but my mom wouldn\'t agree, she thinks if the stuff is bad, it should be banned. Everytime she says something is banned and shouldn\'t be on tv, I always reply, \"Then change the channel...\". She usually changes it, while still groveling that it should burn or something. But ya, there\'s also that little thing called parental control that they have in most service providers, where you block the channels you don\'t want to be shown, like whatever channel the Sapranos is shown on. You know little kids don\'t need to see THAT show! They say the \'F\' word in almost every sentence. Parents should actually look at the rating on a game before they buy it. I see so many little kids playing \'M\' rated games all the time, it\'s not even funny.

So, you see, it\'s the parents. It\'s always been their fault, to be honest. They teach their kids the wrong things at the wrong times...and you know, that leads to sex depraved idjit kids! :D

So, in summation. Parents need to shape up or use condoms in the future.

Reality swirled in a wholly blue manner, revealing absolutely nothing of merit. Things flashed madly in and out of existence like some entirely other sort of phenomena. On a whim, Kurt Vonnegut imploded, taking a sizeable hunk of Massachusetts with him. However, seeing as Massachusetts wasn't entirely sure it existed, the chunk wasn't all that big.

Kids today are the way they are because... their parents sat them down in front of a TV or computer or something, then went off to work or to do whatever. A lot of parents seem so involved with their own lives, their jobs, having their own fun, that they don\'t want to take the time and responsibility of looking after their own kid(s).

Instead, they let video games, music, computers, and TV\'s be the role model for their kids.

And with those \'reality\' shows, slut-looking \'singers\', etc, plus the violent games (I have nothing against \'em)... It\'s not much of a shock with how kids lately have been.

We\'ve got kids getting pregnant at the age of freaking 13 (not kidding), doing drugs/smoking/drinking at similar or lesser age, kids getting ahold of weapons... Joining gangs... And a lot of it\'s because of the parents not doing what they\'re supposed to do. If they didn\'t want the responsibility, there should have been birth control. Or adoption. Whichever works.

But seriously. The parents are so busy with their own success or happiness, partying and being big-shots and having rich stuff, that they forget about their kids. They\'ve got their kids shut in their rooms playing these games, listening to... 50 cent and other similar music, seeing the bullsh*t on TV... they don\'t notice when their kids start screwing up. They don\'t notice school problems, that their kids might be doing \'bad\' stuff (again... drugs, drinking, smoking, sex, gangs, etc).

And by the time they might notice, it\'s too late.

These kids only have the role models of music stars and game characters that can get away with almost anything. They grow up rarely having to use their brains anymore. Weakminded, low morals... I fear for the upcoming generations. I just hope that any children I have in the future don\'t turn out like that.

I\'d like to point out that teenagers getting pregnant has already been happening for a long time. It\'s not a new trend. :P

(In middle school (Junior High back then, in, like, seventh grade class) there was a girl who was pregnant with twins and went into labor during class...)

I\'d also point out that several high school and middle schools have day care centers inside them. Oi.

However, If I remember correctly, the pregnancy rate is supposed to go down because teenagers are getting aware but this might get screwed over because of recent politics...

Oh I know that the teen pregnancy thing has been happening. I merely meant that it seems to be more so... or perhaps at an earlier age in some cases. Considering that my high school has a rather large daycare area for the teen mothers... *shrugs*

And that\'s another reason for kids being how they are. They get raised at their parents high school or by their grandparents, who in some cases spoil them. Bad role models with their parents, their parents being selfish, self-centered, most of the time irresponsible teenagers...

Parents who have split up didn\'t help. Every messed-up kid I know has, at one time in their lives, an unstable family, with break-ups, step-parents, etc. I\'m not saying that every kid with an unstable family is messed up, but most kids who are messed up have had an unstable family. Exactly which is why divorces always turn their kids into demons. I babysit for alot of divorced people and trust me it\'s not fun.

My parents divorced quite recently. It sucks. The problem isn\'t with the divorce, it\'s that most of them don\'t know how to handle it right. I got through it just fine, course, I never liked my dad all that much... but mostly, I think that these women need to sit the truck down and spend time with their kids! All they wanna do is get a job and leave the kid with his or her grandparent(s). I should know, my sister is one of them..... If the women don\'t wanna take reponsibility for their own kids, they shouldn\'t have...well...you know what I mean. I say we revert back to the old days where the wife\'s job was at home and the man\'s job was to put food on the table. It worked then, it sure as heck can work now.

Okay, I\'ve stayed away from this thread for a while, though I still read here, and I have to say I agree with the \'One-parent-works-and-one-stays-with-the-kids\' thing, as Wind said. I agree with that. It works out really well. At my home, my dad works, and mom stays home. Now at wednesdays she goes to some school to learn things on the Chinese Arts Of Healing or something. She does that so she has something to do and can make some money with, yet stay at home with the work. Working at home isn\'t very nice, for both parent and kid, I think, but by the time you really mastered that what she\'s learning, dad probably doesn\'t/can\'t work anymore.

PS. What the HECK did you mean with

Indubidably! If a wife works at home, she has to have it worked out where she can spend time with the kid and work. The wife belongs in the kitchen cause most men can\'t cook! Some of us are helplessly lost without a chef in the house! I say we keep the kid from watching too much tv. People use it almost as an electronic baby-sitter! My nephew is almost always infront of the idiot-box, and he learned hatred and dissobedience pretty quick for a 2-year-old. >_> Sometimes I wonder what they got him watching. Perhaps those preschool shows are sending hidden messages to the kids...I KNEW THEY WERE EVIL!!!!
