Maybe he was the gardener for Dr. Light?
And Rock was given a buster "just in case the gardener went crazy."
I would think, in a way, Gate's creating powerful reploids was almost a sign of pride... He was a genius, so why not use his genius? Powerful doesn't mean evil, and with all the fighting going on, why not make a reploid who could fight back? Why should X and Zero be the only ones with combat capabilities? That's just what I think.
Interesting point about Sigma back there, though. He wasn't evil, either. Unfortunately, though, he became the virus, so his story can't have a happy ending.

Zero: You know me - never say 'die.'
...The image of Gate sitting on a high ledge, watching the insanity, and eating popcorn just... amused me.

I'm pretty sure that in the Maverick Zero scenario of X5 that Wily repaired X for some reason... but I don't have much to back it up on.
But yeah, X was hopeful that they could repair Gate, so at least it's an opening to bring him back. But... if they were going to, don't you think they'd have done so by now?
And I do remember reading a fanfic where Axl befriended Gate, as both were more or less outcasts in the Maverick Hunters... heh.

I'm a Mega Man nut... I own them all, and have them in a lighted display case to boot.

Yay, I love when people throw out canon just 'cause they don't like it. x.x

MHX can't be considered canon until MHX has been completed as a series. If you consider MHX canon, it conflicts with the rest of the X series as a whole.

So? It's awesome. It's probably where they got the idea, but made X do it to make it lamer or something.
After all, this is Capcom we're talking about.
I know!
Gate's body became Gateman EXE! Mr. Famous took the body and created his Navi for BN2!

You never let your emotions cloud your judgement, and you approach any situation with calm, yet strict policy. You're sometimes a bit hasty with your assumptions and this may lead to arguements, but you end up admitting your mistakes and making amends. Almost everything you do is directly linked to your desire to benifit the entire world.
Except... I REALLY don't think Megaman and Megaman EXE are supposed to even remotely be the same universe... o.x;

Yes, thank you Capcom for shotgunning your games all over the place with paradox stories and parallel worlds.
Fight, Megaman! For everlasting peace! ~ :o
Why would you need a Reploid corpse to make a miniature computer person program anyway?

I don't pay attention to MHX period. I mean, why consider that canon when the story is already...mostly laid out? If this is Inafune trying to fix plotholes then sure, I'll accept it. Until then...
I also don't take the Xtreme games into account since Zero actually CARES about his fellow reploids in that game, and is completely out of character. It's like they accidentally gave Zero X's dialogue. Haha.
