Based on Mega X's suggestion, I tried out the game software Xfire. It's not exactly what I wanted at first, but it's close enough to do the job for me!

Xfire is built around an instant messaging system much like ICQ, MSN Messenger and others. However, this one is focused on gaming. The software allows you to simply chat, start online PC games with friends right through the interface, keep track of various statistics, and some more options. It's a good way to find gaming partners without having to rely on random matches, which can sometimes be disappointing because of idiots or bad connections.

If you don't already have Xfire and are interested, you can download it on Xfire.com. The website explains the whole thing in more details as well.

Games I currently have installed and am willing to play online:

  • Age of Empires I, II & III
  • Jedi Knight
  • Star Trek Armada I & II
  • Star Trek Elite Force I & II

I also have a few others not installed right now, so feel free to ask. I'm not limiting myself to those titles, though: if I'm online on Xfire, it means that I'm opened up to other titles as well. MegaChess, or online Nintendo DS titles through the Wi-Fi connection are other examples.

If you want to join in the fun, get the client and post your username here! You'll find me under the username drcossack, as seen in my new signature. The more we are, the most we can play together!

I'm not sure what's more surprising, that someone actually listened to me, or that I ended up being helpful. :P

Man, you just HAD to bring me back to XFire. I had an account, now long gone. But now I renewed...damn it.

I have FEAR, Halo, HL2...I can't think of much else. I don't really play RTS or MMO's online that often. Shaky connection.

My info's in my signature as well.

Yeah. I got the power armor pretty early, it was hands down me winning after I got the Alien Weapon. In Fallout 2, I've just started, but I'm actually getting the power armor early AGAIN just cause I can.

So yes, I am already on Fallout 2. Matter of fact...Maybe I'll play right now.

Pssh. I played the real way and didn't get the Power Armor until after I'd gotten the G.E.C.K.

It's kinda like waking up and finding your football buddies playing WoW on your computer. Only not really, because Doc doesn't really fit that stereotype. It's the surprise, more like.
I would download it if I weren't so busy with Guild Wars and Jedi Academy right now, maybe later.

Wait... Doc, when you say Jedi Knight, do you mean Jedi Knight-Jedi Academy or are we thinking of two different games?

I say "Jedi Knight" as in "Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II", the first game to have that name.

I forgot to mention it at first... Does anyone here still have Monster Truck Madness 2? I spent some serious time with that racing game a few years ago, and I went as far as to create several tracks for it. If you have it, then please say so! I'll reinstall it right away and race you online!

Lol, I play alot of Doom. I'm oldschool.

Been playing Baldur's Gate as well, now THAT is some hilarious stuff if you're with one person that knows everything about the game..and the other that knows pretty much nothing. It's great.

Also TJ delete the damn thing if it's messing up your games, dude.

Gah! Why does WoW have to consume my spare time?! I wish I had the money to buy other games to play with some of you guys. If you guys ever feel compelled to play World of Warcraft, my characters are Zerick (lvl 30 druid) and Zulsnuff (lvl 64 rogue) on the Rexxar server.

My PC just can't handle many games right now.

I've had games where I've played things and tried to open xfire. It opens but its way to big sometimes and makes the game lag, prolly not the same thing though.
