Well, I finally got me a PSP and a copy of both the MM games for it. And, having beaten all MHX has to offer in about a day totalled up, I have to say, the game doesn't oppose canon. Not even the movie. All that changes is that the responsibility for Sigma's scars goes to X as opposed to Zero. Sigma still fought Zero and all that, steeping on his head, the whole bit, but X gave him the scars, and life continues as normal. And... I heard that Cain dies in the movie? Must have missed that... And what's to say he wasn't using a less prominent life support system in X2 and X3?

And even the things you said might not have been contradicting one another: Sigma could have his face repaired after Zero gave him scars, but he got them back because of X. As for Cain, well, the windows were obviously so strong as to not let the blow of the explosions through, but only the light. Or instead, the Cain in X2 and X3 couled've been a clone or Reploid.

True about the scars - it's probably easier to cut scars in with a sword than a bare hand, and easier with a hand to wipe away some covering over scars ten cut them in.

perhaps he repaired or covered the scars (liike Morph said) so that he looks less evil before he could go on a rampage? then those scars will increase his evilness by 100%

it could give Zero his memory back or at least a flashback from the time he still had the Virus. Zero will know he passed the Virus (if they know a virus caused Maverick-ness), thus ruining his plans, after telling everybody.

i can´t give an explanation what could have happaned to Cain, but you can see his face fading in white, when the explosion comes in. no more no less, no hidden swithc which ejected him out of the building, away from the explosion. no sudden fall to a bombshelter, nothing.

You can make up a lot of stories around this. the Death, the Scars. think what you like. i say Cain did not die and the scars were painted over.

You forget, X wasn't just scraping with a normal hand at the time.

Why not? All he needs now is to grow a couple stories taller and become irrationally dependant on a human pilot.

Or he could go for the Mobile Doll approach. Either way works for me.

Well, if yelling Shining Finger makes X's hand any different, would yelling what I did give my bum special powers?

Okay, so THIS question arises.

If there were no changes to the canon..WHY DID INAFUNE MAKE THIS GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE..because I thought he wanted to change said canon?

*shrugs*

Probably Capcom just hounded him to try and get people to buy PSPs.

It's basically just a good update. So now we have an X1 that fits the new art style and STILL plays better than the recent games. If only X2 would go into development... That and X3 would make for great revamps. I'm guessing that his logic was the same as that of Squenix in their constant rereleases of FFI-II.

Fine, let's say that their EXCUSE for LACK OF logic was the same as Squenix's EXCUSE.

It's supposed to be a remake. If the Maverick Hunter series were continued all the way through, it'd become official canon, and not an "alternative storyline."

Because MHX is supposed to be canon, how Inafune wanted it. However, since it is an incomplete series, the original series is still considered official canon. If the X series was completely reworked into the MHX series, IT would become official canon.

However, MHX being continued remains to be seen, as the current Mega Man projects are Mega Man ZX: Advent and the Mega Man Star Force series, not Maverick Hunter X.

The problem is, it's not the same dev teams that worked on Maverick Hunter X compared to Zero / ZX or Battle Network / Star Force. Nothing is stopping Capcom from creating the games in parallel, as they've done before. However, considering the low sales of MHX in Japan, an eventual sequel release seem to be more and more doubtful.

The difference in dialog is proof enough that Maverick Hunter is an alternative storyline. Sure you can call it "canon" but it just isn't the same as the original Megaman X for the SNES.

Is it me or is the same question being asked over and over again?

I'm gonna back RD's explanation for the most part. It's a redo of the story, but it's not official until the entire plot is redone.

Would Capcom really have to spend THAT much money to get MHX2 into development? The engine is there, so is half the content, just swap X2's stages and enemies and add voice acting. With whatever's left of the budget, add extras. An "X Hunter" mode wouldn't be bad, heh.

I don't think it's the money going into the project that's the problem. As Doc said before, MHX didn't sell to well in Japan, so I think the problem with a making of MHX2 would be the Japanese sales. You can afford to make a game, sure, but if you don't make the money from it to get anywhere, what's the point? (business-wise)

And I think a Black Zero mode would trump an X-Hunter mode.
